New Balance Women's 411 V1 Hook and Loop Walking Shoe

I took the advice of some of the reviewers here and bought a half size larger (I'm usually 6.5 but bought a 7). When I first tried it on, I thought it was a mistake because it felt like there was a lot of room in my shoe. However, after spending a few days walking in them, I'm really glad I listened to the advice. It really helps to have more room in my toe box so that it doesn't feel stiff after a long day. The outer material of the shoe is actually pretty stiff (though it's cushion-y inside), so it really does make a difference to be able have some extra space with the shoe. Moreover, I work in a busy clinic where I'm constantly running around all day, so these are a serious life saver. Wearing heels is not very ideal for medical offices, and wearing flats is super uncomfortable for me. These are a good compromise, and they look professional as well (I actually only got them because my office has an all-black shoes dress code). The velcro straps are a nice touch because I don't have to worry about tripping over myself anymore. I have a lot of New Balance sneakers because all of their shoes are so comfortable and well-made, but these particular shoes are actually more comfortable than my New Balance athletic/running shoes. Seriously though, who knew you could get amazingly comfortable shoes for under $20?

Okay, so these shoes are really comfortable. I'll have to keep telling myself that every time I look down at my feet while wearing them... Because they sho ain't a thing of beauty! They look more like those industrial work shoes that people wear when they have no choice in footwear. However, my purpose was to get a pair of comfy black shoes so these fit the bill. Occasionally I have to wear a special ankle brace so needed to order one size up and wider than usual. I removed the insole from the brace side, flipped it over and added it to the non-brace shoe (underneath the original insole) so wearing double insole on the good foot. This helps to fill up the space because that shoe is too large. But, I digress, back to the shoe. It appears to be very well made. The Velcro straps make getting these on easier and fast, but the straps are really too long and tend to stick out. No problem, I got some adhesive stick black Velcro and used it to hold the extra strap length down. Voila! Problem solved, now they look neater. I got these at such a great price that I could have, should have bought two pair in different sizes, one size for each foot! Regardless of the industrial appearance, comfort trumps all so I'm quite sure I will he buying more of these in the future. I have searched for a comfortable,light weight walking sneaker for 5 months. Everything about these fit perfectly....the length (because I have a third toe that is longer than all others) the width, medium fits well, not too tight OR too loose, size 8.5 is a true fit, my heels do not rub the back of the shoe, easy on / off, no problem with the Velcro, and the best, they are so light weight... I will get another pair at this price so when these wear out, I will have a back up!!

I recently moved to New York City, so I do a LOT of walking. Accordingly, when I needed new shoes, I made a point to try for ones that would do well for that criteria. I've had these shoes a couple weeks now, and I'm very pleased with them. I have very high arches and so lots of shoes press painfully on the top of my foot, and these ones don't, which is wonderful. They don't have an awful lot of arch support, but I find with my arches, not many shoes do. They are very comfortable while walking long distances and while standing. The soles give a good amount of grip. My feet don't scream in agony when walking after periods of rest like they did with my past shoes. I would definitely recommend these shoes to a friend.

The shoes were wonderful to start off with but within a month they had stretched out, and the sewing is not very good because the threads started coming loose.. I really hated it because it's a good name brand...but you get what you pay for

Quality gets worse every time I order. I have ordered these shoes every 6 years for the last 18 years. The quality is sooooo much worse than the shoes I originally loved. I know than expenses and so forth effect the manufacturing, but if the first pair I ordered had been like the pair I just received, I would have returned them. Very little cushioning and support. So disappointed.

They're chunky for New Balance. Not a great look but very comfortable. Too hot to wear in summer. My only complaint is with the velcro straps. The velcro is not continuous. There's about a quarter inch gap that gets stuck putting them on and taking them off. Very annoying. My other velcro strap shoes --- cheap ones from the w store --- have continuous velcro so it's not a technical issue. I've been wearing them all day but will have to find something else for summer. I'm glad I listened to the reviewers. I usually take a 9M but I bought 9.5 C/D and they fit perfectly.

So...pleased with these shoes: They are just what I needed! If you are looking for style and beauty, these may not be for you. I; however, was looking for a pair of comfortable, light weight, supportive shoes to wear doing lawn work and gardening; these shoes met all of those requirements. I did order a half size larger than usual to accomodate heavy socks and as some have already stated there is plenty of toe room. The velcro closures are a plus!
