The biggest name in Japanese science fiction— Gundam —returns with one of its creators retelling its origins 25 years after the series debuted. Caught in the crossfire of a space civil war, teenager Amuro Ray accidentally finds a new mobile weapon—the RX-78 Gundam. In the ninth volume of Gundam: THE ORIGIN , the Earth Federation's White Base has now returned to space and is on the offensive. After long being chased around the solar system and across the Earth, they are on the hunt for what remains of the Zeon military establishment. Much has changed over the many weeks since the crew of the White Base fled to Jaburo with a prototype Mobile Suit on board, but now they have knowledge of who and what is awaiting them around the moon. Review: Duel In Texas Colony - When Mobile Suit Gundam premiered here in America, I had already seen several Gundam shows. Mobile Suit Gundam was dated but I still enjoyed it. Unfortunately it was cancelled toward the end of its run. The show had many classic moments throughout but, to me, the show really picked up when White Base made it back out into space and Amuro and the crew took on Dren and his Rick Doms. This is the point where I thought the show took a turn, not only in story but in production. I then saw the movies and saw how it was improved even further! Now that I'm reliving the story through the Origin manga, I don't feel the sluggish pace of the anime. Every page of every book is necessary and fantastic. However, this volume begins the chapter that I liked most about the anime. After the first few pages, I anxiously awaited to see how the battle in space was going to be changed. To my surprise, they left it nearly 100% intact. The White Base docks at Side 6 and Mirai reconnects with an old lover while Amuro discovers a mysterious girl! Upon leaving, White Base encounters Conscon's blockade! Amuro and the crew must make it through multiple Musais, twelve Rick-Doms, and Conscon's Chivvay Class battleship! Char arrives at Texas Colony awaiting the arrival of the Trojan Horse and he is accompanied by Challia Bull; Zeon's Newtype pilot for the Mobile Armor Braw Bro! The White Base has to deploy their entire forces to combat the prototype Mobile Armor! Char discovers the white Mobile Suit in Texas Colony and utilizes his prototype MS-14A Gelgoog in an effort to destroy Amuro once and for all!! This volume continues to follow the anime pretty well up until they arrive at Texas. Challia Bull gets a very different role to play and Char and Amuro's battle is much more theatrical. Lalah plays a big role in this book and the relationship between her and Char is played out much better here than in the anime. The book really gets you geared up for the major battles that are going to be in the next volumes but at the same time, completely draws you into the story of the emergence of Zeon's Newtypes! Review: Excellent! - Love these books! The cover feel is so cool, too! I think desertcart has improved their storage of these books, as well, bc they used to come beat up, sometimes. Now...much better condition.

Fateful meetings and tragic reunions.
With this volume of Gundam: THE ORIGIN we enter the final phase of both The One Year War and Vertical's excellent publication of this watershed manga adaptation of First Gundam (only three more to go!). As we start this volume the 13th Autonomous Mobile Suit Squadron has just returned to space to help bring the war to the Principality of Zeon. We are treated to some truly amazing art and a wonderful retelling of quite possibly THE single most fateful and important meeting in all of the early Universal Century. Reverberations of which will be felt up until at least the year U.C. 105. I won't say anymore about the plot so as not to spoil anything, other than to say its excellent as always. Yaz's art is superb which is to be expected with him.

Bundled Shipping and pristine condition books.
I already knew I would love the books. But booksXpress impressed me with their great service. If I'm in the market for more books I'm going to try and go through them again.

A Must Have for MS Gundam 0079 Fans
The hardcover edition is just amazing! Though majority of the pages are in black-and-white, but the artworks are truly awesome. The English translation is good, but occasionally I found it hard to follow. The Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 is always my favorite. This is a must have for 0079 fans.

Excellent Quality
Yes, this shows the first book. Great series overall. I think the only real sloppy copy was volume 3, so many typos and whatnot. I highly recommend this series.

Uno de los mejores tomos que tengo.
Lo pille en una oferta. Me gusto(fascino!): -paginas a color. -pasta dura. -material de las hojas. Fuera de la oferta de los tomos que compre, los demás tomos están algo caros.....pero lo valen completamente. Colección obligada para mi.

Tribute essay from Makoto Shinkai
Every collector’s edition of Gundam contains a tribute essay from a famous manga artist or famous person if not a manga artist. I enjoyed reading that by Makoto Shinkain in this volume. It gave me a new perspective on how to view Yasuhiko’s art. In this volume, for the first time, I felt sorry for Amuro. The landing on Side 6 was like opening a Pandora’s box for him.
