Fits well, does float face up
I was worried by reviews stating this will float face down. Tried it on my 17lb 9m old and it quickly rolled her sideways and then into her back! I absolutely recommend testing this with your own baby before relying on it as a life preserver, but for us at her current weight it does what it is supposed to. We use this for boating. All infant life jackets will have a lot of padding, which is a pain, and baby may not like it. Unfortunately it is necessary for safety! We started using this when my baby was 6m for boat rides and she has gotten used to wearing it. All the kids wear a life jacket on the boat! It was actually a little harder to get on her teeny tiny baby neck because it is so short, it seemed like the neck hole was small. Now that her neck is longer at 9m old it fits very well and looks more comfortable! I like this life jacket because it has less huge bulky padding around the back. This seems to easier for my baby to move around in, and is less hot too. I don’t think you’ll find an infant life jacket that isn’t a little bulky and kind of a pain to force them to wear. But this one does a good job. She just started walking and can walk/crawl/sit in it just fine.

Great life jacket for safety!!
**update** a whole year later and I still love this safety life jacket. It still fits very well at 31” 25lb. She doesn’t tolerate it as well at she did last summer. But ya know,.... being a toddler is hard LOL. I will definitely hold on to this life jacket for my newborn son. The quality of this PFD is great. **original review** I would buy this life jacket again!! I purchased for my 10 month old, 24in., 18lb baby. It was difficult to find an infant life jacket in a store. I was hesitant to purchase online because fit is obviously VERY important. I wish I was able to upload more than 1 photo, the Amazon app is stopping me. The life jacket is fantastic. It fits very well and my baby is comfortable and happy in it. I would definitely buy this again. Some reviews are critical stating that this PFD is not good for swimming, that is a misuse of the product. This is for floating and keeping babys face OUT of the water. If you want something to help your infant swim, this is not the right product. (Life jackets = help save your LIFE Swim aids = help you swim)

Best life vest for baby under 30 lbs!
We tried 4-5 different vests that were supposed to be for "infants" but all of them were either too big, too bulky, or too uncomfortable for my child. This one was perfect. The neoprene chest part is great because it allows their arms to still move freely and lay by their side. The foam is substantial enough to float them easily and the flap behind the head floats their head easily above water. And the double strap between the legs make the vest feel very safe and secure. My daughter weights about 22lbs and this worked great! The mid section is snug so it could fit a smaller child. Worth the buy!

Overall I think the vest is very good, especially in the water
Our granddaughter was around 15 lbs the first time we took her on the boat, and it fit her well, and has some room to grow. Overall I think the vest is very good, especially in the water. The design will hold the baby on his/her back, head supported out of the water. She floated right over wakes, kicking and splashing, loving it. However, the downside is in the boat, and she must wear a life vest by law. Even though it works great in the water, while on the boat it becomes rather awkward and uncomfortable. The reason: The "floats" on the front and head rest are very bulky. While in the water and standing up, it works fine, but an infant needs to be held a lot or sit. That is when it all pushes up on her neck. And even though the opening around the neck keeps her in perfect position in the water, it about chokes her in the boat. There is no good way holding her on your lap or sitting in a seat. And she got hot, because of the tight fit around the neck there was no air flow. It is a constant thick neck brace. We had to loosen it up for her to somewhat get comfortable. So for safety in the water, 5 stars. But for comfort on the boat, at the best 3 stars. I found another solution. So I have to mark it a 4.

Safe and Secure but a bit too small for our chunky babe
I tried this life vest on our 3 mo old 16 pounds (a chubby no neck little babe) and although it did clip on and seem very secure and safe and soft for the little it just seemed too tight. The babe didn’t fuss over it but just looked uncomfortable. We ended up going with an infant vest that didn’t clip around the neck but has chest clips instead.

Safe and comfortable
We struggled to find a life jacket that functioned to keep our son safe when in or around water. Other life jackets flipped him to his belly or he couldn’t move or function in. He can freely play in this one and when in the water it flips him to his back. He wore it for a week long beach vacation without complaint.5/5!

Difficult fit
I started using this with my daughter in the pool at the beginning of summer when she was a little over 1 year. It's a bit tricky to get on and off. She didn't mind wearing it out of the water, but once we get in the water it severely tips her on her back and she HATES that. I know, I know, that is the life jacket working how it is supposed to work, but it's not comfortable. You can't actually swim in this life jacket, only float on your back. As she got older and got that cute round toddler tummy, it stopped fitting well and by the time she was about 16 months old at the end of the summer, it barely fit. I would say this would be a good purchase if you plan on going out in a boat with your young child frequently. For swimming, it doesn't really work.
