with a little handy work, they work!! I rated them high cause they can be made to work!!!
I like it, and I tried a lot that did not work, this one works. However, I made modifications mentioned in other reviews, wiring the joints that did and will come apart on you. I had prostate removal and needed something that worked, to get on with my life, or I would not have one. The snaps on the sides kept coming undone. I got heavy duty snaps from Tandy leather and replace the side snaps when I realized they came apart so easy just with a little pull. No wonder they didn't hold. With vise grips, you can bend the old snaps sides in one direction, then the other and they fall off. The whole thing is very under engineered. Now the bag, which is to small, I got a little larger one, the leg bands don't really work that well, and soon the whole bag is hanging on the outlet hose. I read that someone used a shoe string, which I did adjusted to standing position to hold the bag to the jock strap, it works except when sitting and the rubber folds not letting urine go to the bag. The bags fill with part urine and air, unless there is a air vent placeed in the line between the jock and the bag. You can find them on other units, like night bags, the bigger volume bags. The good news, these will work, if there is something better please write, this is all I've found that does. larry

There has to be better options...
Horrible design. Nearly impossible to put on. Fit was terrible. I am always honest with my reviews and read all reviews before I purchase. This product was a gamble based on the reviews but we were desperate. My husband has ALS, he has no use of his hands so I was the one putting this apparatus on him at night so we could both get some sleep. My husband is a size large in all things yet the “jock strap” was impossibly small so we couldn’t even use it. I altered a pair of snug fitting spandex type underwear he used to wear working out at the gym. The sheath fit through a hole just big enough for it to fit through so that worked reasonably well. Then there is the sheath. Too small for my husband. I trimmed and trimmed making sure not to take too much so it wouldn’t leak. Getting it on was a nightmare! After using it a few times and washing it each morning with mild soap, the rubber started getting sticky, folding over and sticking to itself. Then the connection at the bottom of the sheath used to connect it and the tubing pulled out of the sheath. Once that happened it became a daily occurrence. I would spend at least ten minutes getting it back in every day only for it to happen the next day. It took about 45 minutes every evening to put this apparatus on and when I finally admitted defeat it was such a relief it made getting up two and three times a night worth getting rid of the hassle. I spoke with his OT and his recommendation were the catheters that are similar to a condom with adhesive. That will be our next experiment. Wish us luck and my advice is to pass up this product.

I think the product is good but just not for my dad
It did not work for us. My father is 80 and bedridden. The urine backed up all over him the first time he used it. I think the product is good but just not for my dad. I ordered two. I opened one and used it (unsuccessfully) but I'm going to return the second one which I have not opened.

Lifesaver
So this is my second purchase is a ouch underwear. The first was a disaster. This one is really good. It took a little to figure out but it is a lifesaver. Let me give more detail. The pouch has an inner seal that creates a waterproof seal. It is a bit uncomfortable at first but I got used to it. The leg bag straps are not great but I had a cloth sleeve for my leg already. The hosing is not very flexible so you have to wear the bag lower, calf. Not the thigh. Finally, keep the cap. You will know what I mean. If you don’t want to use the bag the pouch is pretty good size so it should hold a good amount of liquid but you need to cap it off.

Impressive Right Out of the Box!
My reviews are typically long, extensive, instructive, detailed, and updated as I figure out more about the use of the product including changes of my rating ongoing. I received my urinal product today that is pictured in the ad and found it to be as expected from what I could see. My first impression was that the part that you insert your penis into was quite large and there was really no scale to get an idea on size in the picture but that didn't make any difference to me other than that this thing may be too big for me. I immediately tried to put it on and had to revert to the instructions to figure it out. It says to pull the inner sheath out and use two fingers to stretch it so that it can be put over the penis. I tried this and it was pretty difficult to do. Once on, it didn't feel very comfortable. The sheath stayed as placed...outside. I began reading more reviews. A lot of the reviews were given a one and the main complaint seemed to be about fit. Then I read one review that said he used some lubricant and that worked well. I like to use coconut oil as a lubricant so I began to research how that would react with latex rubber which this product is made of. It is not recommended to use any oil based lubricant with latex products because it weakens the ability of the latex to resist tearing. They recommend using a water based lubricant with latex. I have a supply of Trojan H2O Closer product that I also enjoy using so I tried using it to help me insert my penis into the urinal and this is what I found: 1. doing this allowed me to insert my penis without having to pull the inner sheath out; 2. this is likely a good thing based on what I know about science because it will cause the seal to improve if the urinal flow is blocked for any reason because of the shape that is formed. Think of it this way as pressure increases the inner sheath would have to be inverted for it to begin leaking. Also as pressure increases the inner sheath will be forced against the penis in a way that will increase the seal not decrease it; 3. the increased pressure will also force the urinal to expand and as a result any kinks will be -straightened out- thus allowing the urine to exit the urinal before the pressure builds so much that leakage would occur. This is my current thinking anyway. Of first note, using this lubrication method of inserting the penis, I noted that I felt very comfortable with this product in place as compared to the method described in the instructions. Soon after easily slipping my penis into this urinal I had to urinate. Prior to that I had put spandex type underwear on and a pair of slacks with the collection bag in place at the knee, one strap above and one strap below. My first urination seemed to go as planned....nothing out of the ordinary happened. It worked as advertised. This is the reason for my initial five star rating. Some History: I work repairing generators in my retirement job after teaching for 35 years. For about 7 years prior to retiring I have seen my bathroom usage continue to rise to the point where it was really causing a problem with coverage for my students. I got a doctor's note to allow me to go when I needed to. That is how I compensated while I was teaching. In my new job I spend between 3 and 4 hours, sometimes more per day driving. In the mornings I found myself having to stop every 10 to 15 minutes to urinate which seemed to diminish as the day progressed. It was costing me 30 to 45 minutes in my morning commute to my first job and was a problem with my employer. I began to research what truckers do for this issue. My first attempt to solve the problem was using external catheters that have adhesive on them. This worked OK but I found out very quickly that the adhesive was no match to the pressure that can build if there is ANY blockage of urine flow out of the catheter for any reason. I have become an expert at reaching in to make a ring around the adhesive part of the condom to prevent it from "blowing out" and getting urine all over me. Suffice it to say that I felt there must be a better way so I went looking for more options when I found this product. I will be happy if I can urinate with confidence and not worry about leakage under normal circumstances. So far, I am encouraged that this product will work with a little diligence and care to prevent blockages that may cause a blow out. Plans: In a two hour drive, I typically have to stop at least once to empty my 32oz collection bag that comes with the typical adhesive type external catheter setup. As a result, I purchased a gallon container from Urocare specifically designed for urine collection. I haven't tried it yet but look forward to modifying this urinal product to work with it. The container was pricey but worth the investment if it will get me to my first job without having to stop the vehicle to take care of a filled to the top collection bag. I plan on reconnecting to the bag once at the customer so that I can complete servicing and repair without having to stop to urinate. I have medical appointments upcoming but am not optimistic that there is a solution that doesn't involve drugs. I'm not a fan of taking drugs to slow down urination especially because of unforeseen side effects. First Major Malfunction: I like using a product as delivered to test its abilities fresh out of the box. I recommend trying this product on the weekends and evenings before using it in prime time. I had the day off today because of how cold it was so I had a chance to "test" it for the day. Having read many reviews, and looking at the product, I predicted that the connection at the tip of the latex looked pretty weak and guess what.....it was the first failure to show. I would call it a major blow-out that just occurred with a big mess to clean up. I was also concerned that it would leak by at the inner sheath but that didn't happen. A system is only as good as its weakest component and this product has a problem at the connection point at the tip of the latex where it connects to the fitting that screws to the tubing. Upon initial inspection, it appears that the connection is glued to the fitting. I am guessing that the glue is some sort of rubber cement. It is obvious to me that the joint as provided from the factory is woefully inadequately constructed. It speaks volumes that this has been covered numerous times in the reviews that I have read. This doesn't mean that the product is useless, just not adequate as delivered. My rating is being downgraded from a five star to a four star rating because of this malfunction. I am going to reinforce the connection with a small nylon wire tie that I will tape to prevent chafing or scratching. Another solution that I have seen is using wire wrapped around it to reinforce it. I haven't decided which I will use yet but will not leave it as it is. This is too important of a tool for folks who are having trouble with incontinence for details like this to be overlooked by the manufacturer. It is however obvious that you should reinforce these connections to prevent accidents - like the one that I just experienced - from happening prior to using the product in "prime time". I would describe prime time to be the time that you need it to work without flaw. It would have been quite embarrassing to have a failure as I have just experienced in front of a customer. My pant leg became wet with urine from the thigh down almost immediately when the connection failed. This product will be getting a lot more "testing" over the weekend prior to me trying it on a work day. I do not know yet why the urine backed up and cause the connection to blow out but I suspect that the back flow prevention device in the collection bag may have gotten stuck. This has happened several times with other collection bags and is the reason that I have been forming a ring with my fingers around the adhesive on the external catheters that I have been using to prevent a blowout there. This doesn't do any good for my confidence in this product. What I was hoping is that the internal sheath on this latex urinal would be strong enough to survive any pressure buildup caused by a blockage such as the back-flow prevention in the collection bag. This may still be so but I will need more time to test this after the connection at the tip of the latex is reinforced. For this device to be useful to me, I have to be able to depend on it to be effective in daily use. More to come as I find out more. Ongoing Comments: On the weekend I experienced a failure of the inner sheath to hold back urine. The cotton jock strap ,which I will call the urinal holder from now on, got wet with urine. I happened to be sitting when this occurred. I am thinking that this device works better with gravity rather than against it. I therefore planned to make a ring around the area where the inner sheath is with my finger to prevent urine from slipping past the critical area. My overall experience this past weekend, despite the two failures, was positive. Compared to the condom type external catheters, this urinal device is, in my opinion, very comfortable and easier to use. The adhesive on the condom type catheters makes it difficult to remove them, sometimes painful to remove, and then there is the residual adhesive which is very difficult to get off. They required a lot a time prepping to put them on and to remove them. This urinal device is easy to put on, uses no adhesive and is just as easy to take off requiring no preparation other than applying a little water based lubricant and is very easy to take off....it just slips off then a mild wipe to clean up and your done. So far my skin is tolerating this one very well. It has such promising possibilities that I ordered a second one so that I can wash one and wear one. I received it just in time to take care of that very issue. It is Tuesday and I just completed my second day of work and I used the urinal in prime time for both days. No leaks. Very comfortable. I ordered two more and three replacement latex urinals. That should tell you something about how I feel about continuing to use this product. After two days of using the product in prime time here are some of my observations, procedures and practices. I use a 32 ounce (1 liter) easy tap urine collection bag made by Rusch. I have adapted the 64 oz (2 liter) container model 4100 made by Urocare for use and it has been working well. While driving, I use a short piece of tubing to connect to the drainage valve at the and the other end of it to the tubing that comes with the 4100. Once the valve of the storage bag is open and the valve supplied with the 4100 are both open, urine flows from the collection bag to the 4100 until the collection bag is empty. Once the collection bag is empty, any urination flows right through the collection bag to the 4100. To get out of the vehicle I close the valve on the collection bag, raise my leg to allow gravity to take any urine in the tube into the 4100 when the tube is removed from the collection bag valve. Once the urine flows out of the tubing, I close the valve that is provided by the 4100 kit. This may seem complicated but for me it is more about common sense. It is a small price to pay to make it to my destination without having to stop the vehicle to urinate frequently or even to have to empty the storage bag. While sitting, I am not very confident in the internal sheath to keep the urinal from leaking into the urinal holder cloth. During those times I simply reach in and make a ring with my thumb and for-finger to seal the area closest to my body and prevent it from leaking there. At home after work, I have been testing the urinal in the standing position without reaching in an I have to say that I am very happy that it works well most likely because it is assisted by gravity. This will really help at a customer's place if I can just let the urine go without reaching in to seal it from leaking. Customers typically don't watch me work but I wouldn't want to be surprised, while trying to prevent a leak, by a customer coming to seem me during the service call. Using this type of product, modesty is rather important. Nobody wants to advertise their issues with incontinence. So being able to act normal while using this product is important to just about everyone who needs to. I am getting pretty confident with it now and enjoy the freedom it gives me. To give an idea of how satisfied I am I ordered two more full sets and 3 of just the latex part. I want to be able to start cycling the holder out for washing and also want to prepare the latex parts for use. I will be uploading some pictures soon to show how I am using these products that I have been describing.

Having used one of these in the past until they were discontinued by the manufacturer is was a surprise that AMAZON were stocking a similar item. I placed an order and after a couple of weeks a card from royal mail arrived stating that a customs charge was due. After paying this, I notified the seller who stated that a full refund of customs charges would be made. The item is exactly as described and just as good quality as the ones I used in the past. The instructions for use are not very clear, as other users have commented. In the past I had carried out the instruction to trim the inner sheath to ensure a good fit. DO NOT DO THIS as the rubber will split in time. A little KY lubricant smeared onto the inner sheath will enable you to "Slide in"easily. Some other buyer's had commented that the waist band was too small but the garment that I received had the old style adjustment which would fit most waist sizes. The only comment I have is that the connecting tube may feel a bit stiff. Otherwise I am pleased with the item.
