Sturdy and spacious
I ordered this desk and only 1 box arrived. Box 2 was nowhere to be found. Eventually I had to send box 1 back and order the desk from the website for $150 more. Had I not previously owned several Sauder desks, I would have went with another brand. I’ve owned three other Sauder desks and it’s become my go to office furniture over the years because they’re sturdy and reliable. It’s as close to hardwood as you can get without paying the price. All of the desks have been nice looking and solid so I decided to stay with the brand. The three other desks have since been passed on to friends and family due to moving or downsizing and they all love them. I ordered this desk because I renovated my office and needed a desk that was smaller than the previous L shaped Sauder desk that I had. The desk is well made and easy to assemble. I have worked from home for 5 years now so I’m at my desk for at least 40 hours/week, which I would consider heavy use, so I needed a desk that could handle it. This is my favorite desk so far because of the amount of storage space and it’s beautiful. I’m not sure what the hidden door on the front of the desk is supposed to be for, but I’ve stuffed the dozens of wires from my work and home computers in there so I don’t have to look at them. This is an upgrade compared to the other desks because there was nowhere to hide the wires. I have a 34” and 35” ultra wide monitors on top of the desk and there’s still plenty of room left. I took my time and it took about 3 hours to assemble. A few of the pieces didn’t line up so I had to drill my own holes. Unless they changed how it’s assembled, I’m not sure how it would take anywhere close to 8+ hours to assemble this. If you are reading this review and were as confused as I was, the drawer glides for the keyboard tray come attached together and they need to be separated. Maybe it’s just me but I’m not sure why these pieces came assembled as this caused so much confusion. Aside from the shipping (and price inconsistency) issues, I haven’t had a problem with it so far. Since it seems to be made from the same materials as my previous desks, I really don’t anticipate having any issues.

42 steps to assemble, but totally worth it!
Absolutely solid desk for the price and worth the effort to put together. That said - plan for an afternoon of fun and excitement... This was the "final boss" of furniture assembly for me and took me every bit of 3 hours and some help from the wife. Totally worth it though and instructions (all 42 steps) were very easy to follow. Finished product looks outstanding!!! Definitely would recommend!

Great executive desk
This is an amazing excellent, stylish desk. Be warned - it comes in two boxes and each are extremely heavy. Giving it 4 stars only because it took forever to put together but the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I put it together alone but you really should have two people as you get to the installation point where you’re putting the pedestal bottoms onto the top. It has spacious drawers and built in file drawers.

Very Well Engineered and Manufactured
This desk is a model of precise engineering and manufacturing. Everything just fits together perfectly. The final product is beyond sturdy. Great reinforcement throughout. Instructions are very precise and well-illustrated - pay attention to them. The desk was ordered for Christmas, but the order fell through the cracks. Amazon redid the order to Sauder and, well, it'll be a late Christmas, early Valentine. Everyone was courteous and Amazon made a generous "Sorry" gift to my account. Get the delivery guys to put the two boxes where you're going to build it. HEAVY. Build it where you're going to use it if you can. Here are some hints on the building: 1. You know the carpenter's maxim: "Measure twice, saw once." Well, "Read twice, screw once." Pay close attention to the directions and don't skip around (much). 2. Get a GOOD #2 Phillips screwdriver. Make sure the tip is sharp. You're going to use it a LOT. 3. Label everything. Some parts are labeled but many are not. Label everything and get it organized. 4. I defy anyone to put together parts K, N, and CC as described in steps17 and 18. I had to put together the three components to form a unit that I then attached to the desk with the 27G connectors. [NOTE: If you do this, lay out the K panels on the desk to make sure you have the correct sides facing outward.] 5. Be patient. There's a long chain of steps to putting this together. There are a LOT of screws and it is tiresome to be using a screwdriver, but a power screwdriver could tear up the board. 6. A BIG ONE: The drawers don't slide well? A lot of complaints here on that. I took that into account, noticing that the slides have a little room for up/down adjustment and the drawer sides can be adjusted in/out on their 6G, 9G, 10G brackets. Crank the screws down tight, but just tight enough to hold and let the drawer position the slides. Then tighten all the way. Adjust if needed. 7. The only thing Sader was missing was some felt pads for the desk. I don't expect any sliding around but still insist on protecting my floors. Altogether a very fun project. This isn't wood, it's particle board, so we'll see how it holds up to wear and tear. I think this will stand the test of time and it is coming in at below 20% of the cost of a similar wood desk.

The quality-price ratio of this desk is outstanding. It is heavy and sturdy. Boxing is long-distance transport proof too; item received without any damage. The box is well sealed with hard cardboard edges and plastic wrapped. The box is very heavy so I unboxed in the garage, sorted all the pieces and preassembled the drawers, rails and small items in the garage then moved all the stuff to my office for final assembly. There is quite some assembly work to do, but the manual is very descriptive with clear warnings related to critical steps. Be careful not to tighten screws until parts are positioned and squared, although pre-drilled holes are generally making pieces fall in place quite perfectly. No parts missing and I even ended up with a few spare hardware (did not forget to install any !). I spent about 3 hours completing the assembly. Final product has a high end finish; with a final Pledge coat, it looks as nice as my other hardwood desk for 1/3 of the price. The only difference with a way more expensive hardwood desk are the edges where the side trim meets the surface: those show some lighter color that give away the press wood. I used the stain pen from my hardwood desk to minimize this effect with good results, but the out of the box finish is still very acceptable. The only true negative point I found is that the drawers are a little stiff. All in all, it would be very hard to find an equivalent looking that massive and rich for a lesser price. I am very impress with Sauder's ability to optimize the design for flawless manufacturing and easier installation, the quality of the instructions and the packaging. I also bought the bookcase and the file cabinet and have the same good words about those too. Altogether, it made my office looking extremely nice !

But took a carpenter a full day to put it together. Once positioned in the office, it looks high end. Finish is flawless, the design works well for my needs, well built, and overall very pleased with it.

Beautiful desk. Incredibly difficult to put together. Took two of my sons 8 hours to get it together. My goodness it was a lot of work. The desk is beautiful and sturdy.
