Worth the cost for sure!
I recently bought first set of silicone baggies to replace the plastic baggies we normally use. Those were Cuisinart. It’s a brand I’m familiar with and they had pretty good reviews and product claims. I have, over time, really grown to hate them. They do not seal properly and tear easily. So I came back to Amazon to purchase another, better brand. I was hesitant because I didn’t want to waste my money again but these Homelux baggies are far superior to the Cusinart baggies. First- The thickness of the baggies is wonderful. They are worlds thicker than the Cuisinart baggies and seem so much more durable. The difference in the feel of the silicone is night and day and I wish you all could feel them through the screen. They are also much heavier due to the thicker silicone and I’m loving that as well. It makes me more confident that they won’t tear open easily during cleaning or if, inevitably, one of my kids drops them on the floor full of veggies or whatever. Second- The seal works so much better than the Cuisinart as well. The slider does take a little effort to get on and take off, but they seal very well and, the best part, my kids can open and close them without needing help. That was one of the first things I noticed in the Cuisinart baggies is how terrible the seal was. It became a struggle to no avail every time I tried to get them closed. We ended up resorting to bag clips on some simply because they wouldn’t close properly anymore- and this happened maybe after the third use. With the Homelux, I don’t think I’ll ever have that problem because the slider works perfectly at holding them closed. Third- They have markings that tell you how many cups/mls/oz are inside and I think some people will use that, although I don’t think I’ll ever need it. They also have a line marking the max fill which is really nice. This will help keep them from being overly filled and potentially not work properly. Fourth- They, so far, do not leak at all. I mean, at all. I have filled them with water to test, put the slider on, turned them upside down and shook the h*ll out of them, and nothing. Nada. I mean no water leaked out. There is no way I could’ve done that with the Cuisinart baggies. Just the thought of trying it with them makes me chuckle. Fifth- The presentation. The Cuisinart baggies came inside a thin plastic bag with no instructions or cleaning guidelines or anything. These Homelux were presented well inside of a branded box with instructions for how to use the baggies (mainly the slider), how to clean them, how to clean stains that may occur, and a message from the company thanking me for my purchase. My one issue is that the slider is made of plastic, which I am trying to eliminate, but I knew that before ordering and it’s still a step forward. It’s way better than using those disposable plastic baggies that just end up where they aren’t supposed to. I hope you can tell the huge difference between these Homelux and the Cuisinart silicone baggies from my photos. And if you find this review helpful, give me a mark. 😉

One year review - just ordered more
Incredible product. Buy and don't look back. We have had a bunch for over a year and they have held up as if new. They are very well made. And believe me, we have put them through the paces. They have been jammed with all matters of things, from fresh kale with stalks, to frozen baitfish with barbed fins and teeth. And I mean jammed. Unfairly jammed. As if I was trying to rupture the bag jammed! Damage?...zero. Seriously, their stuff is so good that it surprised me enough to write a review. They deserve the praise. Money is tight everywhere, right? I have a policy. If I give you my money and you give me a square deal...you're gonna hear about it. If you give me what I think is MORE than a square deal, the world's gonna hear about it. After all, if we reward companies which give us value, we'll have more companies that give us value. Pretty simple. And value it is. The best part is that you will continue to find more and more uses for these things. We have about eight now and frankly we could easily use eight more. Who would want to store their food in anything else except a chemically inert, non-reactive, completely safe container?? It is either food grade silicone or glass. And though we use both the silicone is SO much more convenient - flexible, unbreakable, moldable (helps while jamming in the freezer..lol) Just buy the darn things. You will not regret it. They are unbelievably tough (I'll try and find a pic of a whole bunch of razor finned frozen mackerel jammed in a bag), and a steal at the price. Support some of the good guys.

Good enough
Summary in case you don’t want to read the whole thing: not bad for inexpensive silicone bags but I don’t think I’d purchase them again. Having never used this kind of bag before I wasn’t sure what to expect so I diligently read many reviews before getting these. They seemed like one of the best combinations of value and cost. Now that I’ve used them for a short while here are some of my observations. Hope they’re useful to someone. First of all, I love that these come in a pack with different sizes. The two smaller sizes get more use for me personally since they are more appropriate for snacks. The larger sizes mostly sit in the drawer. They are useful to hold crackers and foods with larger pieces that don’t fit well in glass containers like freshly roasted chestnuts or pieces of a baked squash. Also figured out that they are useful for marinating! Who would’ve thought. They are somewhat hard to open and close all the way, especially if your hands are wet, but it hasn’t really bothered me much yet. It’s actually helped when there are little ones around because they can’t get into my bags of treats without permission :-). But I can see that also being a negative for a busy parent who wants their kids to be able to open it themselves. I also wish the closing part wasn’t a separate piece from the bag. That makes two parts per bag to keep track of, instead of one which is a problem that is magnified x100 if kids are around, especially because the colorful closing sliders look like a kids toy. It also means storage is slightly more complicated since there are more pieces and the bag overall is clunky and a bit heavy (not recommended for backpacking). When it comes to cleaning I use a bottle brush since it cleans in the little crevices in the bottom. The expensive name brand bags have a smoother interior that makes them easier to wash. Requires a little more paying attention when I wash them. The bags are also translucent, not totally transparent like other brands which can be problematic for a visual person like me who forgets what’s in the fridge until I see it. If I pick it up to look I can tell what’s in it but often I’ll just forget it’s in the fridge because I can’t see what’s in it. Now that I’ve seen the other brands my friends use I would say these are like the good old reliable Buick that grandma drives; a bit unwieldy but altogether solid and affordable.

Easy to Use, Reusable and 100% Leak (and smell) Proof!!
These pouches are super easy to get open and closed. You need two hands, one to hold the bag and the other to slide the bar in one simple motion. Absolutely leak (and smell) proof!! We had cucumbers in one of these bags that we forgot about... they were partially liquefied when we noticed them in the back of the fridge- eww! Neither one of us wanted to touch it, or open in to dump into the compost bin. So it sat on our counter for a week while each of us waited for the other to deal with it. Laying on it's side, standing upright, falling into the sink and even once onto the floor - it never dripped, spilled and you couldn't smell a thing! Finally I got the courage up, opened it over the compost bin and dumped it. I poured it out directly into the bin and it didn't drip down the sides of the bag, or get on my hands at all. I use a round bottle-type brush to clean all our reusable food storage bags. Those brushes get into the corners and creases and scrub out the yuck. With this particular cucumber situation, I scrubbed it out and left it sitting open, filled with soapy water for a day. There was a little residue of stink, so it needed the hot soapy soak. Normally a thorough scrub and rinse is all it needs. They typically don't hold odors. I will then drape it upside down and open on the dish rack. Easy Peasy! It is awesome that these bags will stay in a standing position (just press the bottom of the bag down toward the counter and fill with whatever). I left that bag in the sink for a day, and it was still standing with the water in it when I went back to rinse it out. That eliminated any lingering odor. Great Product, Great Price

Keeps food fresh, difficult to close
I ordered these earlier this year, and have used them quite a bit. Overall, these are nice, high-quality bags. However, not the most practical... like other silicone bags I have purchased over the past, opening and closing was quick and easy at first, but then they grow more and more difficult to close over time. My main use for the bags now is for brining meat, because I only need to get the bag closed one time per use. As a brining bag, though, these work like a charm - the bag stays upright as I pour the brine into it, and it is easy to squeeze excess air out for a nice seal. It does tend to leak if the top flips upside down, so I just try to make sure it is propped up on something else in the refrigerator and I have no issues. I only hand wash these, so I cannot speak to how the product holds up with machine washing, but mine are still rugged as the day they arrived. Due to the aggravation (understating this!) of getting the bags closed, I would never consider using them to store anything I wanted to pop open repeatedly and snack on like grapes or cherries (even though these did keep grapes and cherries ridiculously fresh when I used them during their easy-shut phase). I saw another review that mentioned that the bags will not stand on their own with liquid, so I posted a picture to demonstrate that they are capable - they just become unstable and will tip if filled too high (around 2/3 full maybe).

Pouches Store Food
I must say that my initial response to opening my box was wow! Impressive presentation! Lovely packing, impressive trifold card with product descriptions, and what looks like quality product. Why buy these? Aren’t ziplock bags and Rubbermaid containers with lids enough? Yes, yes they are, but so annoying. I’m just sick and tired of rewashing ziplock disposable bags because I can’t rationalize tossing out a bag that has been barely used. And the Rubbermaid containers are a continual mess in my cabinet, nesting them, re nesting them, finding the lids (which plant are they under), filling up with grossness when they flip over in the dishwasher, etc. I’m just done. So now on to these new fun containers. First impression of the actual product is very well made, heavy duty, dishwasher safe, or hand wash turning inside out. They seem to seal well, with removable slide bars in pretty colors. The sides are marked so you can actually have a measurement of what is in the pouch, and they do stand up for filling! No leaking, but I’m careful to align the top grooves carefully before sliding the strip on. Also included in this package are some beeswax food wraps I’m giving to my grandson for using with his lunchbox sandwiches. And there are a set of bowl covers too! Lots of sizes, completely eliminating the need for battling a box of plastic wrap and the urgent care visit resulting from the nasty cut from the cutting strip on the box…… Bowl covers are light and stretchy, I like them! So, it’s all a positive for me. Are these an inexpensive solution to my considerable issues and annoyance with other stuff in my kitchen? It’s all in how you look at it. I think so, all things considered. Fewer urgent care visits, bandaid and antibiotic purchases, less swearing when looking for a container that actually has a lid that fits, and less guilt and expense over single use plastic bags. Go for it. Might change your life.

The perfect food bag
I was concerned the bags would be difficult to open and close, but that is not true at all. Very easy, as long as you do it in the correct direction (check my pic with the blue arrows). If you feel resistance closing, means probably you are doing it the wrong way. I usually buy weekly my special gluten free bread and I freeze it already cut in slices ready to put on the toaster every day and the bag is great for that. I also usually take home made lunch from home to the office and these bags are great for the salad so I can prepare the fresh dish at lunch time. Lettuce keeps fresher this way instead of mixing earlier with the fish and pasta. I also like to make lemon juice ice cubes because my mother has a lemon tree and some times I have a lot of lemons that I do not want to waste, so I just squeeze the juice into a ice cube tray and use it later for lemonade or just add a cube to my drink. I've already had the concern to reduce single use plastic by washing and reusing the zip & go plastic bags, but now with the Homelux Theory ones i seven better because they are more resistant and durable and also I can wash them in the dish-washing machine, while the previous ones I always had to hand wash and not always had the time. Overall an amazing product that I intent to continue using, even going to buy some more. Haven't tried [yet] the microwave or cooking, but the fridge and freezer usage are great.

Very useful!
We've been slowly swapping in sustainable items for the household as we use up things. I read a lot of reviews about silicone bags but was still skeptical. Some like Stasher had a lot of reviews mentioning tears and others like the standup ones wouldn't stay closed. I found these and since they come in different sizes I thought I'd give them a try. I like them (not love) and they do fit a purpose for us. What I do like is that they're nice and thick. We buy certain foods in bulk like meats. At Costco it's the tube of pork, the large fish filet and salami. That means a lot of Ziploc bags! These are sizeable to fit different needs including items from the bulk bins at the grocery store. To seal them slide the plastic top across and leave the loop out. If you put the plastic on it so that the loop is inside the slider at the closed end these bags are a beast to open back up. Be sure that as you put the slider on it's lined up with the channel of the bag especially on the larger one. I noticed if I quickly shoved it on it was also tough to get back off. One downside to the sliders is they're rigid. We have a bin in the freezer for all of our meats. Unlike Ziploc bags which fold down easily these have to be carefully stacked with their sliders which can take up slightly more room. Washing wise they can be a little bit of a chore. We have a bamboo scrubber which helps and Dawn soap to cut any grease. To dry I fold the top out so they can stand and dry inside then I unfold and let the outside dry. I've also used a mason jar or one of our travel thermoses inside to stand them up. Cooking wise these are average. You can't hear the plastic slider so you'd have to get creative to sous vide. Otherwise the silicone works well for heating up leftover soups in a pot. Initially these had a smell which is common for silicone items. I have baking mats, utensils, sleeves for jars/soap dispensers/travel bottles and all had a distinct silicone smell. To get rid of it I just used some really hot soapy water and soaked them.
