Great scale for cats & small dogs!
I bought this scale to monitor weight changes in my cats (I have a total of 7), specifically one senior cat who is no longer on a diet but continues to lose weight. This scale is perfect & super easy to use straight out of the box. The weighing deck is built into the stand so as long as you have a level surface (like your kitchen table) it is stable (tip proof & slide proof) and there is nothing to assemble, calibrate, test, or log into. Simply insert the pair of AA batteries that are included into its compartment, set your weight measuring option (oz, lb, or kg) depending on your preference or application and power on (Tare)! Weighing has been a breeze. Once on, wait for the display to set to zeros, add a few kitty treats, then place your cat on the surface & read the display. It can give you up to 3 decimal place accuracy depending on weight measurement option used. The weighing deck is a decent size and able to support my dog at 27.64 pounds (so small dogs & animals works fine)! *If you need to get an animal to ‘sit still’ long enough for their weight to register and they are food motivated… just add a treat or two to the deck! Recently, I have come to love having the ‘hold’ button feature. I haven’t had much occasion to use it, but learning to has been fun and it could come in handy for the pet you may need to restrain in a towel or its carrier. Anyway, this is where you would weigh the towel or cat carrier empty using ‘hold’ to freeze the weight, then weigh the cat secured in towel or the carrier, and the scale will automatically “subtract” the carrier/towel weight (hold weight) displaying only the weight of the cat. The first weight or ‘hold’ weight is the weight that is subtracted. This could come in handy for other applications and in weighing things around the house (not to exceed the 44 lb max) which is what I did originally, to test the feature. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. The scale is modern looking, easy to use, accurate, BPA free and affordable. It’s easy to maintain as well as clean. It is also the same scale used at my pets animal hospital so I feel confident in the accuracy of the readout. It’s not big or bulky, but I don’t have the space to keep it out all the time, so when not in use I store it in its carry box in the closet. As for durability, only time will tell. As always will update of any changes. 5 Stars and I highly recommend!!!

Great functionality for the price (compared to hospital-grade scales)
For the first month of life, gaining weight for my newborn son was proving to be a challenge. Breastfeeding, as it turns out, is a lot harder than they make it look in the movies. Concerned about how much my son was consuming directly from the breast, my wife and I rented a hospital-grade scale from a local lactation consultant for a month (they actually sell it on Amazon, it's the Medela Baby Weigh II, and it costs an eye-watering $1600 at the time of this writing). We loved the convenience and piece of mind the scale brought, but wanted a scale for ourselves. Though this isn't the highest rated or best-selling baby scale on Amazon, it has the highest precision (5 grams). When it arrived, I immediately tested it by weighing objects on the two scales. My son's beluga whale doll weighed 196 grams on the hospital-grade scale and 195 grams on the Beurer. What I presume the 5 gram precision to mean is that if an object's true weight is 197 grams (for example) it will round down to 195; if it's true weight is 198 grams, it will round up to 200 grams. So if you're using this scale to get an estimate of how much milk your child is drawing from breastfeeding, it will be off by at most 2.5 grams (or 2.5 milliliters) which for $50 is definitely good enough. You have to end up paying A LOT more to get that extra precision a hospital grade offers. The scale has a tare button, a switch on the bottom to convert the display from pounds, to ounces, to kilograms. In my usage, I just keep it on kilograms, and if I need to convert to pounds, I just multiply by 2.2. It has an auto-hold feature where if your baby is squirmy, it will wait until it is more still before locking in on the weight. This is a great feature, but I haven't tested it out too much. I'd say the ONLY feature of this scale that I think is missing from the hospital-grade scale is the ability to display the weight in both pounds and ounces. If I kept the switch set to pounds, my son might weigh 10.8 pounds on this scale, but the hospital grade scale will read 10 pounds 13.4 ounces (for example). Not a big deal, since I can do the math in my head or use google to convert, but it's handy. Also, the hospital-grade scale was designed for the breastfeeding use case so it has buttons to remember the pre-feed and post-feed weights with a third button to calculate the difference. Again, I can do this manually, but it would be a killer feature for this product. For it's accuracy, price, and ease of use, I give it 5 stars. Adding the features I mentioned above would turn it into the rare 6 star product for me.

Great at home scale for babies and animals
Used this for my first babe, I would just check her weight here and there while making sure she was getting enough milk while breastfeeding. I can assure you it is accurate and very easy to use. It’s soft, but trying to measure a newborn sometimes my daughter didn’t like to lay on it as it is harder. Glad I bought it, going to use for my next baby too.

Convenient, easy to use, accuracy is questionable.
I bought this because my cat was dying of kidney disease and I wanted to keep track of her weight. It was fine for that purpose, I was looking to see if she lost or gained a lot of weight (a pound is a lot) as an indicator of how well she was doing. So from day to day it worked fine, it was pretty easy to use once she got used to it. But I noted it was about half a pound off from the scale at the vet's office. Since my interest was relative loss or gain it didn't matter much. But if you are going to rely on accuracy you might investigate whether it can be calibrated. Of course the vet could have a bad scale for all I know but I think we got weighed in different rooms so ... My cat passed on and I could see she was getting to the end when I saw her losing weight every day for a week. The scale was good enough to do what I needed.

Good value
This was great to have while my son was having weight gaining issues when he was an infant. We were checking his weight almost every day and this scale was accurate and priced reasonably. We are still using it over a year later with our second and it continues to work well.

Good for first time Mom’s if you’re crazy like me
Bought this because I was a first time Mom and was worried my baby wasn’t gaining weight. Very lightweight and accurate. I enjoy my baby every other week.

Very confusing App and hardware.
App developers should try to focus test the hardware and UX. For example you can choose: oz, lbs, and kg with a hardware switch on the bottom of the BY90 Baby Scale; however when you sync to the App you will see oz when the hardware is set to lbs; you will get grams when set to oz. The app was only the same as the switch when the hardware was set to kg. Profile navigation (multiple babies or... cats in our case) is a bit obtuse to change between profiles. The app lets you create nice icon/images of your baby/cat at the top but, this does not also change the timeline... To see the weight of one of your profiles you instead must press on Profile > press Timeline > scroll to you baby/cat of choice > press back on Timeline. In the app if you choose to manually enter in a weight it only lets you use oz however the hardware/scale lets you choose from 3 options; why aren’t those options reflected to the user in the app?? To do a simple delete of an entry (weight, bottle, note, etc.) you must press/do three actions. Most modern app designs let you swipe to delete entries with one action. This app should focus on simplicity since there is a lot of UX/UI for the user to wade through (too much in my opinion.) When you take a reading on the hardware it stores up to 10 entries. When you sync the hardware and app they seem to all show up again. Perhaps it will remove them from the hardware once it’s assigned I’m the app? It’s doubly confusing with the above mismatch in weight units to know what is right. The scales time must do some sort of rounding up or down? I did multiple entries over a 3 minute period but when sync’d to the App the entries all had the same time stamp? There must be a simpler way. Could be a nice app, may give it another week or so of use. I’ll also put this review on the iOS app store where you download their app (for apple devices.) Probably return the scale if no improvements with the App.

Broken Baby Piece
I bought one that was “Used-Like New” that’s definitely a stretch. The backing that is suppose to latch the baby part to the actual scale is broken, so it won’t securely latch on or even kind of latch on. It stays on okay enough to get a weight on him currently, but once he gets more wiggly, I can tell we will have problems. The actual scale itself is good. It came with working batteries and took the weight quickly.
