Vostok company story starts back in 1942, when one of the Moscow watch-making plants has been evacuated from Moscow to a little town Chistopol located on the Kama River. Defense equipment was the only company output during war years, but as soon as the war was over Vostok started to make mechanical wrist watches - the main production item ever since. In 1965 Vostok company was appointed an official supplier of watches for the Defense Department of the Soviet Union. This year marks the creation of the world-famous "Komandirskie" ("Commander") watch. Military watch grew very popular even with people who were unaware which end of the gun bullet comes off, mainly due to high precision, excessive reliability and durability. The appearance of the watch also contributes to its appeal - functional and clear-cut design invoked the feeling of belonging to the tough world of combat professional. The experience which Vostok gained through development of the army watch was the foundation of our next special watch - "Amphibian". This impressive timepiece in stainless-steel case endured the depth of 2000 meters - kind of a wrist submarine. Success of the professional watches determined the company's present philosophy - to create mechanical watches maintaining precise timekeeping at any temperature, in any environment, surviving heavy pressure and blows. The viability of the chosen strategy is now time-proven. A vast multitude of people both in Russia and abroad boasting "Vostok" watches and various international prizes awarded for high quality and commercial success testify to this. In 1996 Vostok started a partnership with US "Capital Trading" company aiming to create a new generation timepiece.

The Orange Scuba Dude Abides!
the orange scuba dude abides! well worth the month-long wait... first thing i did was remove the bracelet, then swapped the bezel for a matching one and put on a matching 18mm nato... see the pic...the seller, boctok, does a very good job of packing and sends by registered mail so you can track the package (some other sellers don't use registered mail, yet charge extra - not good, but as we all know Amazon's A-Z guarantee means you don't have to worry)these are excellent watches for the money - easy to modify, accurate even with 19,800 beats per second... i'll slap this guy on my timegrapher, but an earlier Amphibia showed +/-5 seconds per day accuracy - no need to open up the caseback and perform regulation!i like my new dude, and he abides - go get one, Donny!

Cool watch and all
Cool watch and all, but if you want accuracy you may be sorely disappointed. Buy it as a novelty, like me. You may get lucky and get an accurate one, or you may get one that loses or gains 30+ seconds a day, as I did. If you can accept that, then you will be fine.

Just different and cool
Band is junk so plan on replacing it, I wish you could just buy it without it. Ended up taking over as my daily watch. There is just something about it. ArtStyle on here makes a sweet orange grey and black band that matches it perfectly. I got this 6 months ago and it looks like the price went up a little bit.

Great Scuba Dude Model!
I really like this "Scuba Dude" model. The only thing that I had to do when it arrived was push the stem tube all the way in so that the winding mechanism would engage.Update 31 July 2017: The watch is now having problems engaging the winding mechanism without a bump from side to side. I have contacted the seller anout the problem.

Soviet watches !
I love the watch, it's a bit small by today's Standard-size but it fits my wrist well. Without the crown the watch measures 38/39mm. Good watch & very reasonably priced.

Too Cool.
Really like this diving watch with the image of a frogman on the dial in red. Too cool. May change out the stainless band for a NATO wither red highlights to accentuate the watch. I couldn't be happier with the purchase value and prompt value.

Russian Automatic Beater Watch
I purchased this watch a while ago elsewhere but I wanted to review it formally here. So, my first impressions about the watch before I did more research. I feel that it was a wonderfully quirky but functional watch. For being an automatic 200m Dive watch at around $80-110. Vostok makes several different cases and dials so it is a very customizable watch. I feel this watch is polarizing and more so with the coveted Scuba Dude dials.Onto Pros and Cons.Pros: 200m WRAutomaticDifferent choices in dials, cases, and bezels.Easy to mod. (I did a very minor mod of the bezel).Cons: The stock braclet. (Why I went Orange, White and Black NATO)The Bi-directional loose bezel (worse on the stock)Non-hacking (unless you bend the shaft on the crown). The movement is finicky and is anywhere between +-60 per day.In Conclusion: This watch is a great basic performer for it's price. Decent Lume, solid construction, and good WR. I do not feel it is a great dive watch because of the dysfunction of the bezel. I do feel this is a perfect quirky conversational beater watch. The watch is tough and durable. The crystal is the only minor letdown in acrylic, however it can be buffed easily. I bought this watch and love it. I love it more after replacing the stock Bezel and Bracelet.Look at the moddong community and various YouTubers if you wish to mod this watch.

This is a great watch! I've been wearing it almost everyday since I got it. The band is junk but a ten dollar NATO strap fixed that. I like the history of these watches as well, it's part of the charm.
