LOVING it so far
I've only been drinking Visalus for 6 days but so far I am beyond excited. I am using these as a meal replacement for 2 meals a day since I am trying to lose weight. After 5 days I have lost 7.5 lbs with no change to my normal exercise routine. I do walk 4.25 miles most mornings and walk an additional 3.75 miles in the afternoon 4 times per week. I can't possible imagine being able to lose that much weight every week but it's a GREAT start. For healthy snacks I've been eating a piece of fruit (banana, apple, etc.). I did do some trial and error to determine what worked for me from a taste perspective and have provided details below. Overall details: -These fill me up at 2 scoops per shake - If sufficiently mixed in a blender or with a shaker bottle I do not think these are grainy at all and I'm pretty picky from a texture standpoint Note: I have determined that the shaker bottle works great and no longer bother with the overhead of using a blender -To me there is a slight aftertaste but I just follow each shake with a chaser of 12oz of water -The first few days I was physically EXHAUSTED - even going to bed earlier. I think my body has now adjusted and I seem to be at normal energy levels again. -The first few days I did have a persistent headache. Again, I think this was my body adjusting to the lower calories. What didn't work for me: -Shake mixed in blender with water and no additional flavorings. YUCK! -Shake mixed in blender with skim milk and no additional flavorings. YUCK!!! What worked for me: -Shake mixed in blender (or shaker bottle) with 1 cup skim milk (80 calories) and 2 tbsp sugar free pudding mix - YUM! -Shake mixed in blender (or shaker bottle) with 1 cup unsweetened blend of coconut milk and almond milk (35 calories) and 2 tbsp sugar free pudding mix - YUM! If you mix everything together in the morning and let it sit until the afternoon it's almost a pudding consistency which you can eat with a spoon or somewhat drink as a beverage (it's thick). I find it equally as good to just mix together and drink right away. Since I am using sugar free pudding mix in my shakes I can easily switch up the flavors so it doesn't get boring: Chocolate, butterscotch, pistachio, banana cream, etc. Next I plan on trying to mix in fruit and ice instead of pudding mix to add additional variety. I doubt I would do this during the week due to convenience but it might be a nice change on the weekends. I am also not sure that "just" fruit will mask the taste of the base shake flavor enough for me to like it. UPDATE: I have been drinking Visalus as meal replacement for 2 meals a day for 5 weeks and have lost 17.8 lbs so far. I take Saturdays off from calorie scrutinization and pretty much allow myself to eat whatever on that one day. This gives me a way to "reward" myself for a good week, provides a mental break and IMO informs my body "hey, don't worry - we are not starving"

Shocked at how good this was
Seriously, I thought I would hate this product. I have an aversion to soy in any form, but I was desperate. I needed something that I would make easily and change the flavor around so I didn't get sick of it. I need to be on a meal replacement diet for at least 3 months. When I opened the pouch this morning. I thought here we go, it smells like the formula powder I used to mix up on the farm 50 years ago for the baby calves that lost their moms. It didn't smell bad...but it smelled just like that stuff. I made two shakes today with the powder and I was delighted. Since it is only 90 calories before you start adding things too it, there is some wiggle room for making it great tasting. Some of the meal replacement powders are already so high in calories you can't add anything to them or you might as well have a regular meal. I used 8 oz of low fat milk this morning, with six ice cubes and a cup of frozen raspberries. I didn't realize the powder has a little sweetener right in it. I did not have to add any additional sweetening to make it taste great. It made a beautiful thick tasty shake. For lunch I made one with frozen peaches, 1/2 cup of orange juice and 1/2 cup vanilla coconut milk and a few drops of vanilla extract. Fabulous. You can make all kinds of combinations with this one powder. I am not going to have a hard time staying on this at all. I hesitated buying something like this because of the price...what if it was was awful? It was very very good to my surprise. It comes out to $1.67 plus whatever you want to add, per shake... That is a lot lower that most breakfast or lunches out. Most people spend a lot more on that on their coffee each day. When I looked at it that way...I decided it was very cost effective ...since it was easy to use and tasted great. I would like to add after being on this now for 5 days..I dropped 7 pounds without feeling hungry or deprived. I feel this best I have felt in a long time and I an no longer sleepy in the afternoons..because of carb overload. When you feel better you are far more active. Helpful Hint...I was looking at the rating on this and trying to figure out why anyone wouldn't have given this 5 stars...I thought...They must not be mixing it right. For maximum enjoyment...don't put this in one of those shaker bottles with a ball and shake...You certainly will not get the best result that way. If you want a really delicious meal...then use a blender or bullet type machine. Start by placing a cup of liquid (juice, milk, coconut milk..whatever combination you like) in with the powder first...blend for a minute, so that it is smooth, then add your 6-8 ice cubes and frozen fruit.) Blend until is it thick and creamy. I like mine thick to eat with a spoon so I add a lot of ice...want to just drink it with a straw...add less ice. Enjoy...and watch the pounds melt away.

MIXED EMOTIONS, but tastes great, lots of good stuff in it.
I gave this product 5 stars, but with mixed emotions. It is certainly very tasty, mixes with anything you like to make a very low-cal, low carb drink. It is a little pricey, but with free shipping it is still not bad compared to a lot of drinks/supplements available that don't taste nearly as good. It does have LOTS of healthy vitamins/minerals, fiber and is low sodium. Bravo for that! It is hard to get the best of both worlds, I know! On a low-carb diet, it is hard to find anything "sweet", and the use of artificial sweeteners is something I try to avoid but is nearly impossible - especially in pre-packaged foods. This mix contains sucralose. Of course, everyone has their opinion and reacts differently to different sweeteners. I don't have any adverse reactions to any of them in term of headaches, etc. The other concern is that the product is Soy based, which I have been reading about - Soy suppresses the Thyroid gland - which regulates metabolism. So, it might be a catch-22 kind of thing. If you are eating a diet heavy in soy and not losing weight - it might be a clue as to why not. On the plus side: It does have MTC's (medium chain triglycerides) which are found in coconut oil, and they HELP your thyroid. If your thyroid is suppressed, you don't lose weight without a fight, believe me. So, my personal answer to using this product is to make a shake in a blender once a day - sometimes twice, using almond or coconut milk, pouring in a couple tsps of melted coconut oil to get it blended in, and then a 1/2 cup of wild blueberries (frozen) and a bit of crushed ice. Tastes like "Blueberry Ice Dream" that I used to love at Chik'fil'A. Hoping that adding the coconut oil will appease my thyroid, and besides - 90 calories for a "meal" is just not enough. Make sure to add something more substantial like a good fat (natural peanut butter or almond butter, coconut oil) to keep your metabolism from tanking. I also like it as a beverage/snack using just 1 scoop and some kind of milk, it is delicious and filling for 45 calories (plus the milk). I will use this bag up, and see how it goes - along with doing low carb/protein/healthy fat, plus exercise. I also just started taking iodine supplements to boost my thyroid function. (I am hypothyroid and Synthroid really doesn't seem to do anything for me, even when it keeps my levels in an "acceptable" range - however, after adding coconut oil to my food, my levels dropped after only 6 weeks. Hopefully this trend will continue and I can get off of thyroid medications). It is a good meal replacement for me when I am on the run or not taking time to cook a real meal. It does state in the marketing that is is made with Soy, but I really wish the entire ingredient label were shown. This seems to be the case with just about anything on Amazon, however.

A wonderful shake for the motivated! A disabled vet review with a different purpose than most.
Hey Folks. Let me get right to the "skinny" of this product and my experiences in using it. A very quick background on me: I played football most of my child life and played D1 ball in college. I joined the Army and gave Uncle Sam 10 years before being discharged as a disabled Vet. Why is any of this relevant? Because I want to stress that I have always taken very good care of my body and have put countless years of effort into being in the best shape possible. Now that I am disabled from the Military, I have to be creative and find other ways to take care of myself. Not being able to get out and run 5 miles a day anymore, I had to become quite a bit more creative in my eating habits and working out. I scoured the planet far and wide using so many various products to try to accomplish my goals. I wanted a quality shake that I could use each morning as a meal replacement for breakfast. After thousands of dollars, I have finally found my winner. Wow is this stuff great! Look, I won't bother to hammer you with 100 scientific details as to why and how this product works. Instead, I will tell you why I like it and why I think you might as well. I am an above average guy. 6'4'' and 240 or so. Not fat, not cut, not anything most would consider outside of "normal build". I love this product because it fills me up and I don't have to watch the clock hoping it's lunch time already. How I like to make my shakes: I make an 8 ounce cup of coffee each morning via my Keurig and pour it over ice I put 2 scoops of this into my Ninja blender with the 8 ounces of coffee and a sugar free creamer of choice for a bit more flavor Add a few pieces of ice and boom, iced coffee smoothie that tastes DELICIOUS! Another way I do it is I take 2 scoops of this shake mix, a handful of ice cubes, and I use various MIO flavor enhancers (yes, those little bottles that you squirt flavors into your waters with) and talk about a transformation. MIO has a plethora of flavors, and 2 to 3 squirts into this mix changes the flavors so well. I have been using these shakes for a few months now, and have always felt satisfied until lunch time (I drink mine around 730 AM, lunch at Noon). For the price, I don't think you can beat how good these make you feel. I have also cut about 10 pounds over that 2 month period with cutting some carb consumption and simply walking a bit more. It doesn't take much to feel better about yourself and drop a few pants sizes. You just have to want it, and this is a wonderful tool to help you accomplish your goals. It's not a miracle shake. You won't drink it and feel full for days and lose 100 pounds watching TV. It is a life changer if you want it to be a tool in your arsenal of better health. Good luck to everyone trying to improve their health. You can do it, trust me! I went from never walking again to believing, to now jogging. Anything is possible.

Great taste, easy to use as a meal replacement
I had a friend who was selling this product a few years ago, so I had sampled the shake back then. For my friend, she lost all her pregnancy "baby weight" and then some, in a matter of a few weeks - I'd say she maybe had 25-30 lbs to lose. I am working out hard at the gym, so I'm using it to help keep daily calories in control while managing hunger. I'm using heavy weights and doing challenging cardio in 20 min sets once or twice a day. So I wasn't interested in just having a shake for breakfast and nothing else with my workout schedule. For breakfast, I have a shake with skim milk, and I add a banana or handful of blueberries, for total calories of 300 or so. Then I have some scrambled eggs on the side. For lunch, I have a shake (with milk and fruit) and then I add a salad, or some other lean protein (chicken or turkey deli meat). Then, I have a healthy dinner. I've lost 5 lbs over the past 3 weeks. So, it's a start, but I have to be really careful with my calories so that I don't snack too much. Many times, I'm not hungry at all between meals, so I don't snack. If I do snack I try for a piece of fresh fruit like an orange or apple. I always prep the shakes in a blender, with ice and skim milk, or half milk, half juice sometimes. There are tons of recipes online that you can change up to change up the taste. For example, you can add cinnamon or cocoa powder and the shakes are delicious! It really tastes great with just milk and ice. I have had NO side effects, no nausea or GI upset, just reduced hunger and cravings. I don't crave dessert anymore, because the shakes are so filling and sweet with fruit. The downside is that it's expensive for the amount. Sometimes I use another protein shake for one meal a day, so that one bag can last closer to 3-4 weeks. I recommend it either as a protein shake supplement or meal replacement. It's the best tasting one I've ever used.

Visalus Vi is very versatile!
I have been using this product for a year and a half. I started it to lose weight and lost about 15 pounds. I have since used it not only to maintain, but also because it is such an easy breakfast and/or lunch. I tried the flavor packets initially and didn't care for them, but I have come up with so many different flavor combinations that I never get tired of this shake! I always add several kinds of fresh fruit to either juice, almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, low-fat chocolate milk, etc. One of my favorite combinations is banana, peanut butter, and some kind of chocolate flavored milk. Banana, fresh pineapple, and coconut milk is a delicious combination too! My latest for fall mixes pumpkin with either an apple, banana or grapes, some cinnamon and vanilla almond milk. By the way, frozen grapes are the way to go. They make any shake incredibly sweet. On that note, when I see bananas getting too ripe or fruit about to turn I throw them in the freezer. Any kind of berry, fresh cut mango or pineapple freeze well and the frozen fruit makes for a better smoothie. If I want to make sure I can go a little longer without getting hungry I'll throw a half of cup of raw oats into my shake. It blends up nicely and adds additional nutrients. Speaking of oats, when the weather is cold, I've discovered that I can add the shake powder to oatmeal along with some kind of milk, dried fruit, and nuts (vanilla almond milk, chopped dried mango and pecans are awesome together!). The shake mix sweetens it so that I don't have to add sweetener. It makes a great hot breakfast on a cold morning, and is much healthier than those flavored packages of instant oatmeal. I could go on and on about this product. I think it is as good as you make it. If you are just putting a couple of scoops in milk or juice no wonder you're disappointed. Be adventurous! Economically, it has been cheaper for me to use this product along with the fruits and beverages I already purchase rather than buying other breakfast or lunch products. Taking it to work for lunch is so much cheaper than going out too! It's easy to travel with especially if you have one of the single serve blenders. I have a Hamilton Beach I bought on Amazon with two blender cups for about $20. I have had many a shake for a meal on soccer trips with my son, because I'm already taking fruit and beverages and the hotel ice is so convenient. Again, saves me money! I'm thrilled I found Visalus on Amazon because it is less expensive, being a Prime member I have it shipped free, and I like being able to buy just the shake mix without all of those flavor packets. I would highly recommend this product!

Easy diet plan and really works
I was very skeptical about this when I first heard about it because it seemed like a pyramid scheme to me. My friends kept telling me they were lossing weight but the kit seemed very expensive and they were all telling me about getting a car and other things for getting people signed up. I really didn't want to order from my friends because I didn't want the guilt of backing out on their money making if I didn't like it. I found the shakes here on Amazon and decided to just try the shakes and not the whole kit, and with no commitment. I've been very pleasantly surprised! The shakes really are delicious and satisfy my sweet tooth. I've lost 10 lbs in 6 weeks. I don't find them as filling as I'd hoped they would be but I get by with snacking on almonds, celery with peanut butter or peanuts. I also find that I'm more statisfied and less likely to get snack attacks if I have the shake for breakfast and dinner and eat a low carb lunch. I'm staying away from pasta, breads, anything high in carbs and snack on high protein foods. I use unsweet almond milk with the shake mix and it's nice and creamy. I make a gallon of shake at a time and let it sit in the fridge for a few days. It tastes even better and really all gets dissolved. Then I fill up 12oz soda bottles with the shake mix so I can just grab one out of the fridge or take one in the car. I'm loosing about the same amount of weight I did about 5 year ago when I did Weight Watchers but this is so much easier for me. I don't have to make the rest of the family go on my diet and I don't have to count anything, just grab a shake and be sensible with meal choices. I have about 20 more lbs to go to be happy, 30 lbs would be great, hope to reach my goal in 3 months or less. :-)

It worked for me
I know not every diet works the same for every person. I tried Weight Watchers for years, Adkins diet and a few others that put me back into a heavier weight after time. As with any diet, you do have to make a life change. Visalus VI-Shape is a delicious shake that is easy to make and has many flavors you can include or just mix with your favorite fruit. The only down size is that it must be mixed with a milk product or it does not taste good. If you are on the run this may not work for you. Here is my story: I have a co-worker that has been using this product for a long time and is now thin. I decided in January 2012 that this is my year to lose weight (although I have said this every year for the last 10-15 years). I had my first grandchild and I want to be able to play with him and enjoy watching him grow up. I work for a medical facility and they were also offering a medical weight loss meal suppliment program but it wasn't goint to be starting until mid February. I didn't want to wait until February so I decided to jump start myself with the Visalus shakes. In 6 weeks I lost 22 pounds and followed their diet to a tee. I stopped drinking alchol and ate my meals based on the nutritional peramid (I also worked healthy snacks into my day). I stayed around 1200 calories a day and I loved it. Again, you have to be dedicated and willing to make a life change. In February, I started a new program with my healthcare provider that I also did well on but their product was not as tasty and I got burned out quickly. I learned a lot since we had a dietician teaching our class and helping us to prepare for the future mind set. My program ended in early June and I decided since I still had more weight to lose that I would return to Visalus and continue on my weight loss journey. It is now July and I am down 65 pounds in 6 months with 30 more pounds to go. I normally don't write reviews but if your mind is determined to get healthy and you are tired of being over weight, then I would give this product a chance. It may cost a little more than some other products but it also taste great and works. Good luck and I hope this helped you in making your decision.
