Effectiveness: I have personally observed some beneficial effect in muscle recovery and sleep using tart cherry in juice, concentrate, dried raisin-like form, and capsule form. Just recently I used them regularly 2x/day during an 8-day skiing trip and was pleasantly surprised at how I was able to keep going. (Daily post-skiing hot tubs I'm sure helped as well). Convenience: I have found these and other concentrated tart cherry capsules to be a good way to get 1-2 servings of tart cherry juice without the substantial calories that come with drinking the juice or concentrates or eating the dried fruit. However, my one problem with this Sports Research product has been swallowing the fairly large oval shaped capsules -- several times they have gotten stuck in the back of my throat and I've had to flush them down in a panic with a lot of water. I have therefore just switched to another brand on Amazon where the capsules are smaller but you have to take two. I'm currently trying Tart Cherry 1100 Mg * 120 Capsules * -- they provide double the number of capsules in a bottle and the 2-capsule serving contains almost 50% more mg at a cost of about $7 less per month so it's a better deal. However, they don't make any claims about being from Organic cherries or non-GMO if that's important to you. Amazon lists several other brands to consider at various price ranges.

My husband drinks tart cherry juice every night before bed to help with sleep we were going out of town for a week thought we would try the the pills to use as a alternative for the juice they worked great for him without all of the sugar that you get from the juice.

I"m 73. Every once in a while, I am able to sleep through the night without taking a sleeping pill. On rare occasions, I sleep through the night two nights in a row. But most of the time, I only get 4-5 hours sleep a night, usually because after I wake up during the night, I just lay there awake for another hour or two without ever being able to get back to sleep. I was actually looking for maraschino cherry juice to use for making cherry limeade and stumbled across real cherry juice and read about its health benefits. I bought a jar and thought it tasted awful and it didn't seem to help my sleep problem. I had also noticed this product in capsule form and read the reviews saying that it helps you sleep as well as helping with gout and arthritis, both of which I have. I have tried melatonin and Aleve PM (which helps with the pain as well as sleep), but neither of those helped me sleep reliably. I've taken sleeping pills, but I'm concerned about the side effects, so I ordered a bottle of these capsules without very high expectations. I slept straight through the first two nights just taking 1 pill before going to bed. I didn't get too excited because it could have been a coincidence, but now it's been more than a week and I've got a full nights sleep every night! Several times I woke up after 4-5 hours, but the difference is that I went right back to sleep, so essentially, I've slept through the night every single night. It remains to be seen if this will continue, but so far the effects have been amazing. I have stiffness in my fingers which I attribute to arthritis and that hasn't changed. I've had gout attacks in the past which I've controlled with the inexpensive prescription drug allopurinol, so I don't really need the anti-gout feature of cherries. But if the sound sleep continues, that is well worth the cost of these capsules, speaking of which - My brother takes all kinds of supplements recommended by his so who is a doctor, so I asked if he knew anything about cherries. He said he drinks cherry juice twice a day for the health benefits. The quart bottle that I got cost about $5 and only lasted a few days, which means it cost at least twice as much as these capsules (which don't have the bad taste like the juice). So I hope the good sleep lasts and I don't have to come back here and say "never mind".

I waited a month and a half to review this product while I was dealing with gout flare ups and it has helped from what I can tell. I haven’t had a flare up in awhile so it seems to be helping with my issues with my big and 2nd toes on my right foot. I take 1 per day. I’d say give it a try and see how it works for you in conjunction with avoiding certain foods and drinks that cause your flare ups. It’s a capsule so no taste, easy to swallow, doesn’t smell from what I can tell.

I'm giving this 3 stars because I take this on a daily basis and my supply was low. Product has not yet arrived and right now scheduled for delivery - 2 full weeks after my order. Otherwise, this is an excellent supplement. My chiropractor suggested I use it for joint inflammation and has been working well.

I got Gout once and believe in me, it is one of the worst pains you can imagine. Since then I have learned to change my diet slightly, no more binging beer, or eating red meat... However, since I do not know what caused my gout except that I must have eaten or drank something and the combination increased my Euric acid, I decided to have a natural remedy. I do drink natural tart cherry juice at home but when traveling, it may not be available, hence I selected this product. I have not had any side effects. I try to have one or two pills ahead of time if I feel I may have a beer or eat meat sometimes... I have not had recurring gout besides the first and only time, so I cannot contribute this to the pills or change in my diet. All I can say , it has not had any bad side effects on me and I will carry it with me when I travel It is also best if you can get the right anti inflammatory drugs specific to gout from your Dr. and have that handy in case of flareups. I love to hear if someone with Chronic gout can provide more information if this product can actually prevent gout or not!
