Freud99-286: 2" (Dia.) Glass Panel Cabinet Door Bit Set with 1/2" Shank

This is a great answer to the problems of building stiles and rails for glass panel doors. The bits make a fine rabbet on the back for the 1/8" glass; cut a slot for the glass-holding spline; make the fine cope and stick for joinery. After trying the bits on extra wood, I had some minor tearout. I solved that issue by speeding the bit rotation speed a notch and backing off the cut to do it in two lighter passes. The bits are pretty big so you can't run them very fast! I will also mention that I bought a Sommerfeld Easy Set Up Jig for Freud Bits from Amazon for these bits (and a bunch of others) and that jig makes set up for the bits a snap.

This router set makes glass panel doors a breeze. I used some poplar to make a display case and these cut it beautifully. It is a great set. I have had good success with Freud bits and this set did not disappoint.

The router bits look great. Rockler Woodworking sells this type of router bit with a height setting guide to minimize trial and error time during setup. However, to my knowledge, Rockler only markets the wood panel cabinet bit, not the glass panel cabinet bit. I see no reason a guide such as that offered by Rockler for thier bits could not offered with these bits.

They are great cutters, wish I had them sooner.
