Don't hesitate, fantastic product.
After reading the reviews I was cautious about concerns expressed on ease of install, balance point, spinning etc. I purchased based on the innovative design and the need I had to fit my specific configuration. To say that I'm pleased with my purchase would be an understatement. The product is excellent in design, and function. Install: mine was trickier than the standard "attach the Kradl to a joist" that would fit most applications as I had to span joists because I wanted a drop point where there was no joist above. But even with the added considerations I was able to install a spanning board, and attach the Kradl with ease. All it took was thinking about location and drop point of the cable for about 15 minutes and planning my work. It took about 1 hour to cut the spanning board, paint it, drill it and then install and complete my first use of the Kradl. BTW I'm an average to below average skilled homeowner/handy person. Function: easy to retract up and dock into the Kradl, finding the bikes balance point took literally 15 seconds. After install I realized that the product, using a single cable and balance point function, was versatile enough that my next use of one could be over items that are beneath it and i could "pull" the bike towards me over the objects (i.e. don't need 100% clear space under the bike if you have tight quarters , the bike will lower and raise at an angle if you need it to though its certainly easier straight up and down). The online install and function videos are great. Tip: the videos show you may need to add some weight to the cable at initial startup to extend it closer to the frame of your bike, they suggest a bucket of water as that weight, I used a 40lb dumbbell and would highly recommend it if you have one, vs filling a bucket with water. Also, at this step of the install don't be afraid to pull down on the cable as it does take a bit of effort and naturally you are concerned with harming the Kradl but you will not. Certainly got what I paid for, solid value. Finally, I shared my experience with Kradl and received near immediate feedback and tips. 100% would buy again and would tell my friends and family.

Excellent quality, simple to install, works as advertised.
Simple to install - especially with a stud finder - and works exactly as advertised. My bike weighs around 27 pounds and my wife's bike around 24. We went for 2 x 40-pound capacity units instead of one of each. This way we don't worry which bike goes where. My wife was not convinced initially, but once she discovered how convenient it is to raise and lower the bikes from the ceiling of our garage, she became a fan. We used to have our bikes on a wall mounted system that took away valuable space in the area where the cars are parked. We live in the northeast and experience snow in the winter meaning no bike riding outside for several months. It's great having them in the garage year round instead of moving them to the basement as had been my solution for several years. Highly recommend!

So far so good....
We are getting ready for winter and needed to clear up some space in our garage. I had looked at other pulley based systems and while they are conceptually simple, trying to coordinate the tie down lines looked challenging in our space. So I thought I would try this product out. The packaging is nicely done. There are plenty of manuals and instructions on how to install the Kradl on the ceiling. There is an included template as well to save you the trouble of measuring. Installation was relatively simple. Finding a joist in the garage ceiling took a few minutes. But once done, it's just a matter of drilling a few pilot holes, getting the bolts installed and putting up the Kradl. The instructions mention that you need a bucket of water to pull the cord down. I was able to use my body weight with a little bit of 'oompf'. I also found that the seatbelt that attaches the bike to the Kradl only goes one way. I found that i was struggling to get the bike clipped in, until I realized that I had the belt on backwards. The bikes do have a little bit of spin when lifting up to the ceiling. Fortunately, our ceiling is only 10' so I'm able to guide the bike up. I don't have e-bikes or this would not work for us. Or we'd need to use two Kradls for one bike. My wife was able to use the Kradl too. We'll see how it functions long term. If there are any issues, I'll update this review but so far, so good.

Great solution for lifting bikes off garage floor
I was looking for a solution to get bikes off the floor, especially my electric bikes which weigh between 45 and 80 pounds. I came across pulley systems that required electricity or a pull rope to lift and this invention intrigued me since it was spring loaded so I gave it a try and purchased two and then I ended up purchasing 4 more for a total of six. The quality exceeded my expectations, and the installation was not as daunting as the reviews, however I am pretty handy with those kind of things. you do need to take your time during installation to figure out where you want them so it wasn’t the easiest installation, but it also wasn’t hard. I do agree with some of the online reviews that it can be difficult to pull the bikes down so make sure you get the correct 20 pound or 40 pound unit based on the weight of the item. I am strong and younger so for me it’s not a problem but I could see for someone that was older or not as strong. They could have issues bringing these down especially kids. I am very happy with this solution and even though they were expensive, you get what you pay for and I feel like the quality level matches the price tag.

Broke same day of install
CABLE SNAPPED ON 30 POUND BIKE!!I I got 40 pound bike lift. Install straight forward . It functioned more awkwardly on a step through bike than I hoped, but still seemed usable. That was until the cable broke and sent me and the bike sprawling to the floor. This was just on second use and the very same day of install. Would not recommend. This thing is dangerous.
