Works great
This is a great tool. I had always been a bit intimidated by waffle makers, but I finally decided to buy one. This product is easy to use and easy enough to clean. I usually put a wet paper towel on the grates after I use it to get steam going and then wipe once it cools a little. Great product to make a nice treat every now and then.

Awesome Belgian Waffles Eveytime
The two best words on a diner menu are "Belgian waffle." Images spring to mind of perfectly browned, spongy-soft disks with deep crevasses for holding pools rich maple syrup, crowned with a pile of whipped cream and fresh berries. Major yummage. Well, now it can be yours anytime you want, as much as you want. The Cuisinart WAF-200 is the answer. I've never had a waffle make before. Thought it would be good to make waffles for the family on christmas morning, and this guy was on sale. It comes securely packed, fully assembled. It's a handsome unit, with a clean-looking stainless steel outside top. Because this is not the kind of waffle maker that you have to flip over, it has a small footprint. Indeed, it is even cleverly designed so you can store it standing up, saving space. Where this thing really shines, though, is in actually doing what it is supposed to do - make perfect belgian waffles. Opening the clamshell design reveals upper and lower non-stick surfaces with the familiar waffle pattern. After preheating the unit to the desired level of doneness, all you have to do is pour in the batter, close the top, and wait until it beeps. That's it. The result is a perfect belgian waffle, every time. You can select the level of doneness from 1-6, with 6 being a darker, crispier waffle. I like mine lighter and not so done, so I'm at about a 2 1/2. Its takes about 1 heaping dry-measure cup to make one waffle. I will remind you what other have said: do not, do not, DO NOT use any spray or butter or oil on the cooking surface. You do not need it and you will ruin it. When your waffle is done, it will simply lift right out. Either carefully use a regular fork (dont scratch the surface!) or get a plastic waffle fork. Bottom line: the Cuisinart WAF-200 rocks. So far through about two dozens waffles, its bee perfect every single time. Get it.

Great maker and LARGE waffles!
Great waffle maker. The top handle is large so you don't get your hand too close to the hot top. It is huge so the waffles are big and can easily be split for kids. It is truely non stick (I have had bad luck before). The beeps for "ready" are loud enough to actually hear. And the level of cooking is perfect. Yes you have to get used to how much mix to put in, but if some spills out the side it is easy to wipe up.

2 foot stppers gone
I bought a 2nd sale @ 20$ cheaper. It is exactly as stated. If you count ridges on inside of rounds this one has 1 more bump. 4, not 3 at edge, it is bigger, this makes a full plate waffle, hinge loose enough for thick batter to RAISE the waffle. This is industrial quality a lil more than the standard counter top iron. This will last.! Stands on end but I will store it displayed!

Plug in for first time outdoors or in garage. NOT IN THE HOUSE/APARTMENT. Or vent to outdoors!
This smoked like mad first time I plugged it in after I wiped the inside down and dried it; so I took it outdoors immediately. It took about 5 minutes to heat up and when you open the lid the first time before use, it will smoke a lot. Just don't breather the smoke. My whole kitchen stinks of this burn off of whatever is inside from manufacturing. Actually my whole house smells like burning electrical wire. I'll update my review after I use it. UPDATE: First, you need to plug this in outdoors or in your garage because of the smoke produced when it is heating. I brought it up to temperature (beeping) to signal "ready" and opened the lid. Lots of burn off smoke from inside the unit came out when I lifted the lid and not until I lifted the lid. So I repeated the process about 5 times, letting it heat to "ready" and then opening the lid until no more smoke came out when I lifted the lid. The smoke obviously built up inside the unit and only escapes when lid is lifted. It took about 5 cycles of heating to ready and opening the lid to cool a few seconds and let the smoke escape. So on to the actual performance... Well I had it turned up too high and it seemed that It was creating a hot spot where the waffle was quite dark in one area. So I turned it down a half number twice and now it bakes perfectly browned, crisp on outside, soft inside waffles. The dial is at about the 3:30 position now. I tried the overnight rise in the fridge yeast recipe in the enclosed directions/recipe pamphlet and cut the recipe in half to let rise overnight in the fridge. They were really tasty. A half of that yeast recipe made two full waffles. One waffle is pretty big and fat, enough for one hungry person, like about 4 pieces of toast. So now my reviews are thumbs up to get this one. I love the ready to bake beeps and the waffle is done beeps. Five little beeps each time, so it is not annoying. Nice feature. Just take heed and plug it in for the first time outdoors, in your garage, or in a well vented to the outdoors place. Happy Waffling! UPDATE: Still making the best waffles ever. This is a great maker and I highly recommend it.

Read the instructions and you’ll be fine!
I was expecting to have to do a lot of trial and error but my first waffle came out great! Read the instructions, people! I used krusteaz pancake mix with their recipe on the bag for waffles (add egg, water, oil). Then I plugged in the unit, turned the knob to between 4-5, and while it’s heating up the batter has a few minutes to settle. When the unit beeped indicating it was to temp, I brushed oil on the iron plates and poured a little more than 1c batter in and evened it with a heat safe spatula. Pro tip: use a liquid measuring cup for this part! I left it closed until it beeped and then even kept it closed a few more seconds. Then gently opened and a perfect waffle emerged. It was a tad soft for my taste so I did the next one on 5 and it came out great. The last one I only filled 3 of the 4 waffle quarters because that’s how much batter I had left and it turned out perfect also! Pro tip: If you have the top of your waffle only partly golden or mostly white *you’re not using enough batter* and it’s not reaching the top of the iron when it rises. I’ve only used this once but so far have observed no weakness in the handle. I’m wondering if other reviewers’ units were damaged in shipping or were dropped. --- Edited to update after owning for 1 year: I still really love this waffle maker and it works great, per my initial review. Now I double the Krusteaz recipe (4c mix, 3c cold water, 2 eggs, 1/4c oil) and it makes about 5.5 waffles. Leftovers freeze great and need just a few minutes in the toaster oven to crisp perfectly. My handle is still intact, and I'm not bothered by the fact that it gets hot (it's an iron!). Clean up is fine since I always brush the plates with a little oil between each waffle. Buy this guy, or if you're afraid it's a knockoff buy directly from Cuisinart or a big box store. I'd buy it again. Zero regrets.

Perfect waffles - every time
This is an excellent waffle maker. It makes 8 1/4" Belgian waffles which are not too thick, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Waffles can be easily split into 4 quarter pieces. The browning control dial range is from 1 to 6. I use a setting around 5 and it makes perfectly crisp and uniformly baked waffles every time. Plates cannot be removed, but they are "very" non-stick and easy to clean. WAF-200 can be stored upright to save space, and cord can be store around the base. I tried the Oster flip-style waffle maker ( Oster CKSTWFBF10WC-ECO DuraCeramic Flip Waffle Maker ) before this one and I couldn't get it to make crisp waffles even at the highest temperature setting and cooking was very non-uniform. The WAF-200 appears to have a better, uniform heating system as well as higher quality fit and finish. Here's the basic recipe I use that makes really great waffles every time: - 3/4 cup all purpose flour - 1/4 cup cornstarch - 1/4 tsp salt - 1/2 tsp baking powder - 1/4 tsp baking soda - 1 cup milk (or 1 cup almond milk if you want to make dairy-free waffles) - 1/4 cup vegetable oil (I use avocado oil) - 2 small eggs (or one extra large egg) - 1 Tbs sugar - 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 0. Set the waffle maker to 5 (or your desired browning setting) and let it preheat 1. Mix the dry ingredients (except sugar) in a bowl 2. Mix the wet ingredient (and sugar) in another bowl. (I use a mixer for this step) 3. Add the wet mix to the dry mix and whisk until just mixed (do not overmix) 4. Pour batter uniformly to the waffle maker so that the peaks are just covered (it takes about a cup) 5. Bake until the waffle maker beeps This recipe makes exactly two 8 1/4" waffles in the WAF-200
