Resident Evil Archives: 2 Review: it's useful but... - This is very useful if you have not played all the games & wanted to catch up on Resident Evil 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 but what I expected was an explanation of EVERY event that took place in Resident Evil history. I thought it would provide information about HOW the T-virus got leaked, etc etc. As far as providing character profiles, I thought it would cover every major character but it leaves out characters like Barry Burton, Rebecca Chambers, there's a few others. It covers the ones who have had more impact & popularity however. The book is basically useful if you've missed out on playing games, it will provide you with the major foes of the game as well as what happens in the game & the ending of each game. It also comes with concept artwork images, a list of items in each game & valuable items. It also had a timeline at the end which explains all the major incidents revolving around Resident Evil, basically the same timeline from Resident Evil 5. I like it a lot though, must have for Resident Evil fans! Review: Awesome - I am a late-comer in appreciating this particular Capcom series. Even until now, I haven't played most of the other games yet. I fell in love with RE after playing the Gamecube version of Resident Evil 4, and immediately bought the remake version of the first Resident Evil (in Gamecube as well). I have played the second sequel in the Gamecube version (more like a port, rather than a remake), and enjoyed it--even for a short time. I'm glad that the two volumes about the Resident Evil background/history were released because I've gotten to know more about the characters and the development of the series. I was really glad when this second volume arrived in pristine condition in such a short waiting period. Like the first volume, it was filled with lots of pictures about the different monsters, characters, as well as many summaries for the subsequently released games. Although the overall plot can be "over the top," I like the series' theme of its "dog-eat-dog" concept that was blended with sci-fi biological outbreak.

The book of the books of Resident Evil
Perfect book for all fans of this series ... with details of the latest titles in the series, with perfect images and detailed, tells the story step by step every moment, with clear information on each team and present military unit in games. Furthermore, it is perfectly bound and the pages inside are very well organized and look for a real treat, worthy of Resident Evil.

Could Have Been an Excellent Volume 2
I just received the book yesterday after the long pre-order wait and I kinda skimmed though it while on the loo. Today I been more serious about the book and dedicated more time to carefully study it, but I did not read the whole thing yet. The book is generally focused on Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, but you also get a good dose of information and graphics on Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles and Resident Evil Degeneration. The book starts with the introduction, then then the story of RE4 section follows, after which the RE5 story section follows. Both story sections of RE4 and RE5 have text and screenshots from the CGIs sequences in the games. After the story sections, you get the Characters section which has the info and graphics of the heroes and villains from both games (RE4 and RE5). After Characters section, you get the brief section on Creatures (enemies). I think that the publishers of the book could have done a better job on the Creatures section, adding at least more text with interesting info other than the basics. From page 100 the section called Items starts. It has screenshots of all kinds of items from both games including treasures and extras (like bottle caps and figurines), as well as the texts from the notes that you find throughout the games. From page 120 you get the section called Visual Works, which is my favorite section from the book. In this section you get all sorts of concept art, pre-visuals, creature drafts and visual layouts. One of the things that I was expecting is that the publishers would include detailed level designs or sketches of levels like they did in the Volume 1 (RE Archives 1), but they did not included this kind of artwork, which upset me. Moving on, at page 162 you get the Extras section that includes the rest of Resident Evil games (Umbrella Chronicles, Darkside Chronicles and Degeneration) other than RE4 and RE5. Overall this section includes screenshots of CGI sequences from the games, character images that are widely available online, corresponding text and a couple of diagrams on the characters relationships. On page 186 the section called Keyword starts. I have not read this section thoroughly but you get all kinds of excerpts that relate to the Resident Evil storyline like "Stairway to the Sun" that explains the underground garden from RE5 that has the uroboros flowers, Talos Project, Operation Javier, BSAA and much more. From page 208 you get the Database section that has Glossary, Timeline, Wesker Reports (1, 2 and extra), Ada's Report, RE Secret Report and Release Chart. The book ends with the credits to those people who worked on the Resident Evil Games. I would rather wait for this book a bit longer and have the writers polish it up a bit more than to have what is on hand, but for the $20.00 or so, the book is still an excellent value to have. If you are thinking whether or not to get the book then I suggest to get it by all the means while the price is still low and the copies are just-fresh from the press, I am even planning to get 3-4 more books in the next week or so as gifts and as an investment (so when the prices will go up and none will be new and I will sell them at profit). If you are a fan of Resident Evil series of video games then this book is a must-have. Final sentence: the book is good-to-great but it could have been much better, I enjoy it none-the-less.

Good for gamers and collectors.
I got this book for my best friend, He is a hard core Resident Evil fan and own just about everything. This made a perfect addition to his collection ( Book includes RE:4 & 5, Darkside chonicles, Umbrella Cronicles and Degeneration. Does not include RE: 6, Revelations, or Operation Racoon city.)

Très bon livre dommage qu’il soit jamais sortie en français . L’expéditeur avait annoté « produit d’occasion en très bon état » ce qui fut le cas !! Rien à redire

This is the second volume of the Resident Evil 'Archives'. It collects and presents information on the videogame franchise between 2004 and 2009 (in particular, the 4th and 5th main game instalments - but also the 'Umbrella' and 'Darkside' chronicles). It's an over-sized book, similar to a large magazine - and it's been put together with obvious care and attention. Every detail about every conceivable character, event and object is identified and described. So if you're a big fan of these RE games then you'll probably really enjoy the book. There are lots of screen shots - outlining what happens in each game. As such, it can assist as a 'walk through guide'. But it's the information concerning the backstory of the RE universe - how it was conceived and developed - that's most interesting. It's amazing how interconnected these games are. And finding out about the central protagonists (e.g. Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield) and key protagonists (e.g. Albert Wesker) is a lot of fun. There's plenty of concept art - depicting the design process of the characters (e.g. how Ada Wong was given a particular style). Overall, this is a very interesting and informative book - and is available at a reasonable price (around £20).
