Helped with PF a lot
In an effort to help others with plantar fasciitis, let me tell you what worked for me after 8 months of PF, 2 dr visits and 4 weeks of PT -- it wasn't the dr and PT, although my physical therapist did help. PT had me do ankle pumps (30 when I wake up each morning) and eccentric calf raises every other night 3 x 12 with an aerobic stepper (KLB Sport 27" Adjustable Exercise Equipment Step Platform). Every other night 3 x 12 x 2 of the first two exercises with this ProStretch Calf Stretcher and Foot Rocker (The Original). I continue to do all of these every other night. While continuing that I have used a let's try everything approach to end this ASAP. While the exercises have helped what really put me from 70% better to 95% was the following: Plantar Fasciitis Posterior Night Splint (MARS Wellness) -- much better than an earlier one I had tried from Futuro. This looks big and bulky but actually is more comfortable at night. The futuro also made parts of my foot go numb. Beurer Foot Massager With Built in Heat Function, Shiatsu like Features -- use this 45 mins a day at night with heat. I use it lightly at first until the foot warms up (5-10 mins) then apply pressure to the heel area. PT explained there are ligaments and fibers that need to be disrupted/torn up a bit in the heel. This works wonders for that. It is a bit painful at first but the heel gets numb as you gently increase the pressure down on the heel.. I hope to not need to do this forever, so far about 1 week, and it seems to be helping a lot. Sof Sole Arch Full Length Comfort High Arch Shoe Insole for Men and Women -- I also tried and like SuperFeet orange and yellow. These to me are better as the heel is cushioned. I use these now in all my shoes and footwear. They help but the are not a cure. Hopefully once I am back to 100% these will help stave off future flare ups. Fish oil supplement -- 1 per day. This is an anti-inflammatory without the long term problems of using an NSAID daily. Penetrex Pain Relief Therapy -- not sure it does anything but am continuing to try this. If nothing else it feels good to apply 2 or 3 times a day. TheraBand Foot Roller -- PT recommended this but I did not find it helpful. It does not allow enough pressure on the heel to disrupt whatever is going on there that needs to change. I replaced use of this with the Beurer Foot Massager which for me works much better. I hope this helps someone else with these issues. I am hoping this regimen will fully cure the problem in another 2-3 weeks.

Plantar faciatitis and chronic pain sufferer
I have plantar faciatitis, it developed because of i pwrmentantly damaged my ankle, which in turn caused me to let my foot drift and not worry so much about how it positioned its self, it was so bad the podiatrist thought I tore it cause I am on strong narcotics for my ankle pain and should not have felt it as bad as I did. It wasn't torn just very painful. The cortisone shot made it worse for 2 weeks then pain free for 2 weeks and then to about a 5 on the pain index scale. I bought the supports for the shoes and while they helped with the day to day walking it didn't help once the shoes came off at home and I was still having pain while walking. I talked to my pt about using something like this. He said yes, it works for some people and not others it depends on the person. I also ordered slip on arch supports and a nubby ball and they help during the day to relieve the pain. I plan on taking the ball to school and using it when it gets really bad because it provides immediate relief for a while and reduces the pain. I recommend both to everyone with this. Now the boot is awesome. I wake up in the morning and my plantar faciatitis doesn't hurt. As I progress through out the day it does start hurting but not as bad as before. There are only two problems. The first one is I don't sleep with my foot sitting up but on its side and my foot doesn't stay flush to the bottom of the boot unless the straps are really super tight to the point where it cuts off circulation. The other problem is more specific to me but I want to mention it for anyone with weak ankles or pain in their ankles, the position it puts you in can aggravates the pain so if you have pain when you are lying down and try holding your foot on its own at a 90 degree angle then you will probably get some pain with this, though it does disappeared after an hour or two. You can walk in this boot though be careful and I have no trouble sleeping in it, though both are probably because when I first injured my ankle I was in the air case boot for a year and learned to sleep and walk in it, had no choice. Basically, walking for trips to the bathroom make sure your foot goes straight to the ground don't do heel to toe or toe to heel walking because you will fall. For the sleep issue, take it off when it bothers you although you should just loosen the straps a bit and see if you can go back to sleep. With the air cast I had no choice but to keep it on and the first couple weeks were rough but I found if I loosened the straps just a hair I could normally fall back asleep within 20 minutes. I am back in physical therapy for my ankle but he is also helping me with my plantar faciatitis because some of the same muscles are used for both areas. If you can visit a pt and get some advice from them also. Put the supports in your shoes, by the slip on supports for barefoot walking around your home or sandals. Get the nubby ball, the ball not the other ones that are flat, that doesn't work, but the ball provides relief. These are all things I found useful. *this item was purchased by me at full price, I did not recieve it for free or at a discounted rate, I promised no one my review. I am stating this because I don't always believe the people who get items for free or at a discount because they do recieve them for these reasons because of their promise to review and I feel this makes people, even unconsciously biased.*
