Ball Jar Heritage Collection Pint Jars with Lids and Bands, Blue, Set of 6

If you're looking specifically for a canning jar type drinking glass, then look no further as these are perfect ... About the only other option currently on the market is a clear replica with a very small handle attached, a hen molded into one side, and the words 'county fair' or something like that .... These are much, much nicer ... These are perfect molds as they do not have uneven bottoms and will not wobble when set down .... The color is consistant throughout and of a much nicer shade than the original washed out vintage blue .... This color is a darker shade aqua, but not so dark that you can't see the contents of the jar .... The Ball company logo is a perfect raised mold on one side, with raised measurement values on two opposite sides .... These raised markings provide a good 'grip' when used as a drinking glass .... They have a nice smooth lip, wide mouth, and perfect threading for a standard mason jar lid ..... Kind of overkill for actual canning use, but you will have the nicest looking pantry on the block if you go that route ... And it goes without saying that these will make a much nicer package for gift giving than the clear off-the-shelf jars ... These are already packaged to resist handling breakage by Ball ..... But Amazon did a pretty good job of packaging for shipping as well, but I didn't get the multiple layers of bubble wrap as others have mentioned .... Still nothing was broken .... Again; looking for a cheap, sturdy, break-resistant, pet tolerant drinking glass? .... Something that will not easily get knocked over while sitting unattended on the end table? ..... Then this is what you want .... You will not be disappointed ..... Get them before they are discontinued and require you to wait for the next 100 year anniversary .....

The color of these jars is simply gorgeous. The ball mason jar design with the beautiful blue color makes them the perfect drinking glass. I ordered three sets since they are discontinuing them. If you are using them as glasses, as some other reviewers mention, they have a chemical smell when you first pop the lid off of them. I did not find it overly offensive, but it is noticeable. After one dishwashing I cannot smell any chemical smell at all. I even stuck my nose inside the glass and couldnt smell anything but a slight dishwashing detergent smell. So, if reviews about a chemical smell are holding you back from buying them I wouldn't worry about it. The pint size is fine for drinking. I wish they had them in the quart size but I checked all over the internet and I dont think they make the quart blue heritage jars. As I said before, they are discontinuing them, so if you are thinking about them, buy them now!

OMG these jars are so gorgeous so beautiful and I was so afraid like one of the reviewers said that they would smell bad, but no such thing. I put them in the dishwasher before use but even then I didn't smell anything! I have to say the color, the feel, the quality, the size and the price - PERFECT! And I did not know until today but they have measurements on the jar .... brilliant Mason jars. Is it possible to get this excited about a jar? You gotta see the blue color. I make a ton of green smoothies and fresh squeezed juices especially for my books and just LOVE these jars. I'd be buying another set if my hubby hadn't put a cap on how many more things we can buy for our kitchen. Get yours fast! :)

Although the color is not as pictured (as stated by other reviewers), I was quite pleased when I opened my order. Both the blue and the green ones that I ordered arrived in perfect condition and the colors are beautiful. They are very bright though, not muted as shown. Definitely not the turquoise of 100 years ago, but still pretty. I cannot attest to their use for canning, as I don't intend to use them that way. I'll be storing seeds from my fall harvest in some of them, and some dry goods in my pantry with others. I don't think rust will be an issue in my dry pantry. I'll be storing the seeds with desiccants on a shelf in my cellar. It can get damp down there if we have a lot of rain or snow, but if the rust develops I won't really care because I'm not storing food in them. I can buy more caps next year, or use the jars for something else. All in all, I'm pleased with this purchase.

These jars are very nice due to their colour as well as practicality. Sadly, when I unpacked them a couple of the jars had rings that are dented a bit. I am not sure if this was due to shipping or not. Not a big deal since they are the same as all the other rings I have so I can swap them out, but it is a bit annoying since I will use these for display and I paid a premium for these specialty jars. Overall, awesome jars and glad I got them.

We are all about JARS in our home. We use them for drinking, storing, sour dough, over night oats, home made yogurt and about 100 other things These colored jars (I got the purple ones too) are absolutely adorable and I am so happy I purchased them

Received my 2 cases in 24 hours using our Amazon Prime. Packaged very well - no breakage! I've been scouring markets & shops looking for some old blue ones but due to their growing popularity they're getting harder to find, most are without the seals and lids and then they're ridiculously expensive. These are gorgeous jars; light reflective, pale cobalt in color and sturdy enough to last a few generations. I plan on using them for leftovers, as hurricane lanterns, vases, drinking glasses, and even as bakeware. You could make layered salads in these, cap them up and take them to work or use them to serve individual items at a buffet - hang a cute paper label from some string and tie it around the neck of the jar. Use them to store coffee beans, tea, pasta, rice, powdered laundry soap, cotton balls/swabs, bandaids...you get the picture. Oh yes, there's also their original purpose - canning! Though not my thing I'm sure I won't run out of uses for my heritage jars!

I ordered these 8 days ago - first, a word on the sheer joy of ordering off Amazon. Everything typically takes forever to get to India but not when I'm ordering from you guys - and even better, these arrived in perfect shape. I ordered 3 sets; wanted even more but was frankly worried about damage in shipping glass jars from across the planet. They arrived today, sooner than I expected them - and every piece in perfect condition. Now to the jars themselves - instant love. I don't have any original blue Ball jars to compare against but not sure I'd want to, anyway; I love these. They're sturdy yet pretty, the size is wonderfully versatile, and I've already thought of so many uses for them I'm running short before I've even started. I hope the heritage collection stays around a while, because I'm definitely getting some more. The silver lids are just right for this shade of blue, and the quality is evident.
