From Head to Toe: An Energetic Picture Book About Animals and Movement

This is one of our toddlers new favorite books! It is great for learning to follow directions and different body parts while getting some energy out. I would recommend this for any active toddler.

Such a fun, interactive book! If you don’t have it, you should! So much fun!

My 18-month-old loves this book. The illustrations are beautiful, and being a board book makes it easy for him to turn the pages. For little ones, it's great to have them learn animal noises. I used to read this to preschool-age kids as well and they got really excited about doing the motions. Be careful with the donkey kicks, though!

Kids love it.

This is such a cute book. Its been one of my kids' favorites for years. They love pretending to be animals and my one year old tries to copy his older sisters and it is the most adorable thing ever. It's a fun book to get that last little bit of energy out before sitting to read other books before bed. There are always so many laughs and giggles while reading this book.

In this book, various animals and children move parts of their body and encourage other children to do so. Eric Carle is truly a master of this kind of text. Each spread follows the same repetitive structure - "I'm a $ANIMAL and I can $VERB my $BODYPART - can you? I can do it!" - which makes it very suitable both for young children learning to speak and older children figuring out how to read. The only part I don't like is at the end, when the little boy says to his parrot (in a neat turnaround) "I am I, and I can wiggle my toe". It doesn't sound very idiomatic to me - I would say, in normal speech "I am me", or perhaps (in the form followed in the rest of the book) "I am a child" or "I am a person" or "I am a human". This book is also, obviously good to encourage kids to move during a rainy-day storytime, or to let them move if they always are fidgeting during storytime.

Bought this because it looked cute. Little did I know it would be the Toddlers favourite book. The girls are 2 and 3 and we do this book several times a day. It makes them move their heads, nech, shoulders, back, hips, toes, chest, legs and feet all while matching it to favourite animals. "I'm a penguin and I can move my head, can you?" I highly recommend this book to anyone who has young children in the house. As you can see above it also teaches them the various parts of their bodies.

My daughter loves this book and can act out all the gestures from it. I would recommend all books by Eric Carle for infants and toddlers. The artwork is very interesting, and kids always learn something while having fun.

Good books to teach children English! Very easy to read and sing with the little ones! Definitely recommended for teachers or for children at home that want to learn English
