Terrific Product - Only Wish I'd Bought One Sooner
I was debating whether to rent a steam vac or buy this unit to deal with year-old pet and soda pop stains on my carpet. I am SO glad I decided to go with the SpotBot! It's easy to use and it works amazingly well. I had given up all hope of totally eliminating the stains because they were so old, I would've been glad just to see them faded, but this little machine got every one out! It doesn't come with a lot of cleaning solution, but you can find more at a good price at your local Tar get.The SpotBot does leave the cleaned area pretty damp, so do your cleaning on a warm day when you can run fans and leave windows open, and be prepared to blot up excess water by pressing a towel firmly into the wet area. You can also use a blow-dryer to speed up the drying time. I found that laying towels over the damp areas until bedtime prevented any new dirt from being tracked into the treated areas, and removing the towels and running a nearby ceiling fan allowed the treated areas to dry completely by morning.Don't believe the bad reviews.People who say it "discolors" the carpet - it's a spot cleaner, so if your carpet is generally discolored from accumulated tiny bits of dirt and stains, yes, this machine will reveal that. But I've found it's easy to sort of 'blend' the edges of the brightly clean spots where necessary by using the brush attachment and sort of working outward from the newly-clean spot.People who say it quickly loses suction - you're supposed to thoroughly vacuum before using this machine, and you're supposed to clean out the scrubber heads and hose after each use. If you do those two things, there's no loss or even reduction of suction.People who say the cleaning solution "attracts more dirt" - you have to make sure the cleaned areas are TOTALLY dry before anyone walks on them again. ANY wet spot on a carpet will "attract" dirt, and this is why so many people mistakenly believe stains reappear on their carpets a few days after cleaning. Again, keep your windows open, run fans, blot up excess water after cleaning with a towel, lay down towels over the treated areas if there will be anyone walking around in the rooms where you've cleaned, and then leave the areas exposed overnight (with a fan running, if possible) to let the damp areas dry completely.People who say it only works 5-6 months...I've only had mine a few days, so I can't say whether or not this is true. But I got it at a great price (considerably lower here than at my local 'big box' store), and even if it DOES break down after half a year of regular usage, I'll still feel I've gotten my money's worth because nothing else I've EVER tried has done such a great job on carpet stains, or done it so easily!

Do you have a pet? Or are you clumsy and spill? Or do you have a child and a car? SpotBot will save you!
Originally, my wife and I were borrowing a family member's vacuum-sized carpet cleaner whenever our Senior Dog had an accident in our carpeted apartment. Just as we aren't able to hold our bodily functions as we age, it became more and more apparent that our Sweet Old Boy had to go more frequently, and might not be able to hold it very long.... a full-sized carpet cleaner for a small spot seemed a little bit like overkill, and we didn't want to have to store such a large appliance....That's when we found out about SpotBot. I think my wife and I had seen it at Target awhile ago (when Dog was younger and able to hold his potty) and dismissed it, "Why would someone need that? Our Good Boy is a very good boy, and he can hold it!"Fast forward, it was one of the best purchases we had made. It's not only great for pet stains, but Spot Bot can also do immediate triage on Wine drips, Mud spots, weird Couch Stains... really, anything you would use a full-sized carpet cleaner on. Only, spot is small and portable... about a foot and a half tall and two feet wide. It doesn't have an onboard water heater, but just fill it with hot water before use!If you use the Surface Stain setting, you can get about 6 rounds of cleaning (or 6 spots) before having to empty the tank into the toilet, and the Deep Clean setting will get you about 3. The power cable is especially long, so if you needed to clean anything in your car, the hose setting would definitely be useful. One last thing I really liked about this unit is that it sucks up all the dirty solution, unlike some of the "spray it and leave/blot it" options, you can pick what your cleaning solution smells like, and you actually see results with very little work on your part... just push a button! This little tool saved our carpet, area rugs, and upholstered furniture. If you're torn between a full-sized carpet cleaner and this, ask yourself: "How much carpet do I anticipate cleaning and how much storage space do I have?" If the answer to both questions is "Not much..." Then go with this one!
