Bought earlier 2024 and took it on a 21 day trip to SE Asia. Utilized a clear luggage cover over the bag and there is no damage of any kind on this Travelpro medium check in, dark brown or expresso color. It's very roomy and easy to utilize since it opens like a trunk. In checking the specs, it states a 97L volume, which compared to many trunk style luggage, is a larger capacity. When abroad, I saw a few trunk style pieces at the luggage area, and speculated that they were roomier, but if the specs listed on Amazon are correct, this Travelpro beats them outright for space. The trunks I'm comparing are not XL sizes but comparable in outer dimensions to this medium check in. The outer material is a premium soft sided material and is expandable. The only minor con I have has to do with the design of the handle which sticks out from the rail at the top due to padding. If the smaller bag you want to piggyback on this piece doesn't have a wide enough trolley strap, then it gets a little difficult to slip over the handle. By no means a dealbreaker but just something to consider if you plan on placing a personal item backpack or similar on top. Overall this is a sturdy, good looking and classy piece of luggage and I'm happy with this Platinum Elite.

AFTER TRIP UPDATE : The luggage appearance is like new after checking it 4 times. The wheels are still rolling smoothly despite enduring medieval cobblestone streets (I really thought they'd break, but no). I got the Platinum Elite 25 from Amazon Warehouse Deals at less than half the listed price! Except for a very slight scratch on the top leather handle, it was in pristine condition, and I was also able to register the product online without problem. Despite some reviews I read online, the front metal zipper was working fine. I still lubricated it with graphite powder and wax paper to prevent breakage and it glides very well now. The spinner wheels roll smoothly, the handle feels sturdy in hand, and the luggage is easy to maneuver. The expansion feature doesn't really add volume to the luggage, I think it only serves the purpose of being able to use the optional clothes hanger. I probably won't use the provided plastic toiletry bag but it's nice to have the option to unzip it off.

Purchased the Platinum Elite medium check-in bag about a month ago. Finally got to use it. What an awesome bag! I used the lid part with 5 shirts and hangers. Also packed about 2 days prior..when I unpacked the shirts, hung them directly in the closet and no wrinkles! I also used the Travelpro compression cubes, WOW! What a difference. In the large one I put in feed, 2 pair Docker pants, 2 pair of shorts, 4 other shirts. When I unpacked these, also, no wrinkles! The reason I am impressed is that I have been traveling for about 13 years in my home state for work. I have over 1,000 nights at Marriott. I was using another suitcase that also worked real well, but I rolled all my clothes. That does work, but I fit so much more in the suitcase with the compression cubes! Amazing! Wish I discovered these earlier as I retire in 5 months. I purchased the Travelpro Platinum Elite as a gift for myself as we plan to travel internationally quite a bit. This suitcase is well made, love the leather trim and handles, and the wheels are amazing. I also researched Briggs and Riley. This bag is as good, if not better that the Briggs and Riley ZDX line, and half the cost. For the Platinum Elite, Travelpro has a lifetime warranty like Briggs and Riley. But for their soft side Platinum Elite only. Others have shorter warranties. I would recommend this bag, their Platinum Elite International Carry-on, and their 27L Platinum Elite backpack to anyone looking for a quality product that does not break the bank!

After having a great experience with my carry-on Travelpro, I opted for this mid-sized checked version. The bag is very light weight, but it doesn't feel at all flimsy. The construction is first rate, the zippers feel sturdy and move smoothly. Likewise the handle, effortlessly retracts and expands with smooth precision, yet never feels loose or wobbly. The wheels are smooth, and the bag glides effortlessly around tight corners when navigating airport serpentine lines. The layout of the various pouches and compartments is well thought through and allows you to pack in a logical manner. The suiter is my least favorite feature. It is the same design as the one form my carry-on bag which I found to be acceptable, but not great. To be honest, I usually just remove it more often than not these days. While there are less expensive bags on the market, I have become convinced that Travelpro is worth the extra cost. Overall, a great bag that I highly recommend.
