Mauviel M'Cook 5 Ply Polished Stainless Steel Steamer Insert With Cast Stainless Steel Handles, 8-in, Made In France

This Mauvial steamer is very well made and it’s NOT made in China. I love it.

I bought this steamer to interface with my Mauviel M'Cook 5210.21 3.7 Quart Saucepan with Lid, Cast Stainless Steel Handle . Though sold separately, they are clearly built to go together. The steamer fits perfectly into the saucepan. The seal is air-tight and is the result of precision engineering on the part of Mauviel. Other than the quality and construction, this is a great tool for steaming vegetables on your stove. You simply add some water to the saucepan and then boil it with the steamer insert on top. The lid from the saucepan fits beautifully on the steamer (again, as if they were built for each other). Unlike an All-Clad steamer set that I bought and returned, the quality of this steamer insert is equal to the actual Mauviel pots and pans that go with it. It is made in France, side-by-side with the other pieces. For some reason All-Clad feels compelled to lower the quality of their nice pots with cheap made-in-China steamer inserts. I'm very happy I returned the All-Clad and bought this.

Used this the other day for cauliflower and it worked perfect. The quality is outstanding and fit my M'Cook 3.7qt sauce pan exactly. The pot lid also fits the steamer fine. Very please with mauviel cook ware. I'll try to add measurements like I did on the pan review.

I purchase this steamer insert from Mauviel website. I have several pieces of Mauviel cookware and pleased with them all. All the pieces I have (not lids) are stamped "made in France". The steamer insert is not stamped. The paperwork does not state it is made in France. The box only list the address of Mauviel in France. I see nothing that indicates this item is made in France. That said, the build quality is good and it fits my saucepan good. The lid I have fits good. I am quite pleased with the item. Just wanted to let everyone know it is a single ply of stainless (not 5ply) and not indication it is made in France.

It's well made and a perfect size, but it's just too tight. This is the second time I've ordered one of these for my 6.4-qt Mauviel stainless M'Cook pot. I returned the first one and I'm gonna return this one too. Thought the first one might have been a lemon and tried again. No luck. It goes in ok with a two-handed push, but it almost takes two people, one with the strength of Paul Bunyan, to separate it from the pot. Of course that would be dangerous if the pot contains hot water. Too bad. Mauviel cookware is usually great, but this piece didn't work for me.

Very beautiful to look at and very high quality. It is a fantastic steamer with only one problem. It fits a little too snug. That's perfect for steaming because it means no steam escapes around the sides but getting it out of a hot pot is a bit of a challenge.
