Surprisingly Simple Health Check Worth Doing: Accurate Results from Your Sofa
After feeling perpetually exhausted despite getting enough sleep, I decided to check my vitamin D levels before heading to the GP. Living in Manchester where sunshine is basically mythical half the year, it seemed a likely culprit. The kit arrived promptly in discreet packaging and contained everything needed - lancet device, collection card, alcohol wipe, plaster, and pre-paid return envelope. The instructions were clear with helpful diagrams that made the process straightforward.I was initially nervous about the finger-prick blood collection (not great with needles), but the lancet device was virtually painless - just a quick click and it was done. Getting enough blood drops onto the collection card was a bit fiddly, but warming my hands under hot water beforehand as suggested in the instructions definitely helped. The return process couldn't be simpler - just pop the dried sample card in the pre-addressed envelope and drop it in any postbox. I received an email confirming receipt of my sample the next day. Results arrived by email within three working days, which was faster than the 5-7 days mentioned on the website. The report was comprehensive and easy to understand, showing my vitamin D level (which was indeed quite low at 35 nmol/L) along with clear explanations of what the numbers meant and recommended next steps. The accuracy seems spot on - I took the results to my GP who confirmed the findings and recommended supplementation rather than ordering another test, saving NHS resources and my time.Price-wise, at around £30 it's not cheap, but considering lab testing and detailed analysis is involved, plus the convenience of doing it at home, I think it's reasonable. Certainly cheaper than private blood tests at clinics. My only slight criticism would be that the lancet was single-use, and I ended up needing to use one from a previous diabetes testing kit to get enough blood. Maybe including a spare would be helpful.Overall, I'd definitely recommend this kit to anyone living in the UK who suspects they might be vitamin D deficient. It's given me actionable information that's already helping me address my fatigue issues with proper supplementation. Worth every penny for the peace of mind and health insights.

Good piece of kit
I was previously told, many years ago at hospital that i was vitamin D deficient.I bought this to see if that was still the case. I had a line indicating that I have insufficient levels.Easy to use, and understand. Good price too.

Cheap and cheerful
Easy to use, but is it as accurate and as informative as a clinical blood test ?

Probably a complete waste of money
Simple to set up and use.Not so simple to interpret results. Have included photos which show my level is Sufficient - or Insufficient - your guess is as good as mine. Given an iPhone can pick out detail in faint images that the eye has trouble identifying I had hoped that photographing the result would make it easier to read. Obviously not . . .Given I take a high-dose Vitamin D supplement every day then either the test is rubbish or the pill I am swallowing is no good. I am afraid will keep taking the tablets and not waste my money on this sort of thing again.

It works!
Easy to use. It's estimated up to around 60% of Britons are deficient in Vitamin D. If you've got achey bones etc this could be the reason why. I'd rather top up on Vit D supplements and foods than prescribed meds so with the knowledge gained from this test that I'm deficient I will try that route first

Didn’t match my NHS blood test
Was easy to take a sample, however when I got the proper vitamin D blood test from the GP to confirm, the results I got on the home test did not align with the NHS pathology results . I cannot confirm how well it works as a result.

Quick and hopefully accurate
Did what it said it would do and told me I'm not deficient.
