The Boxcar Children Bookshelf (The Boxcar Children Mysteries, Books 1-12)

My daughter (9yrs old) loved this set. She read every one of them immediately. It’s a nice set for the value, easy to read, & the kids love the series.

Absolutely LOVE these books for my kiddos! Simple storylines with simple kid centered adventures. My daughter and I read the first book and she was hooked so we came to amazon to buy the box sets. For reference, she's 7 and in 1st grade so everything about these books is perfect for her! Easy reading while introducing chapter books to her that she cam actually read herself. The books sprinkle in harder words to give them a taste of tougher chapter books to come; but for where she is reading at currently, these are perfect. These books have been around for ages so I bought with confidence knowing my younger kids/cousins would be able to use them once my daughter moves on. Great addition to any children's library! Purchase them now!

Wonderful stories! I had forgotten about these stories until my grown son reminded me of them. My 10 year old is not an avid reader.... until now. We got the first 12 books last night, she started reading the first one, she read until she fell asleep. She related the whole story to me and stopped on pg. 76, the first night! These are great stories for children. Once they start reading, they won't be able to put them down. I highly recommend these stories for children. They are in a format that makes reading quick and easy.

I got this set for my grand child. It is a great set for kids to read.

My grandchildren will enjoy reading these during the summer! The paperbacks will be great for the beach and they are a treat to read to the younger children!

My granddaughter and I have been reading these for cuddle time for a couple years now. I had the first 12 digitally on my iPad which is dying and they are no longer available for download so I went looking for the set. I found out that Ms Warner wrote the first 19 (there are hundreds of others written by other people) and decided I'd get her those 19. These were $34 which was cheaper than I was finding them used. Amazon also had 13-16 which were over priced but I was willing to pay a little more for the convenience of completing the set. The last 3 volumes I found on ebay. I really like that they will all fit in this cute littel train car bookshelf along with a few others I've gotten her at the thrift stores over the years. I think my granddaughte is going to be so happy.

My teacher read some of the sequels to us, too. This set is in a nice box that is decorative but better yet. has 12 of the titles. I might read the rest, but might not have room if there is over 70 titles! Nice stories, not just of kindness and caring about people, but really ahead of its time (written in the 1940s, 50s and early 60s) in attitude toward people of other cultures (Indians), caring about the environment, and so on. About the only one that stumbles, reality-wise, was book #9, in its depiction of uranium as essentially harmless. That was poor research on the author's part. Also, I liked how the character of Aunt Jane started as an agoraphobic, who was suspicious of people. I felt that book might have had pages edited out, as it seemed a bit thin, and Jane made a 180 degree turn, instead of her becoming sociable in a more organic, believable way. The characters are also kind and show human values, but without the expected shove-it-down-your-throat religious stuff. in fact, Christianity is never mentioned at all, and you can believe the characters are any denomination you want them to be.
