Highly highly recommend to anyone who likes stories.
As a newbie Heathen follower I have been struggling to find reliable and unbiased recourses to render the folklore and myths of the gods and people. I FOUND IT IN THESE BOOKS (also bought the copy about Norse mythology based off and following with the Poetic Edda and sagas). I love the storytelling especially since is approachable in a way that I can enjoy reading these stories with my 5 year old son without boring him to death with convoluted language styles of the translated eddas. The illustrations are nostalgic of the early to mid 1900s style but captivating and depicts the characters and events in ways that are kid approved in my opinion. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to read or understand any type of legend/myth/folklore stories that aren’t biblical or Roman Greco and that give a different look into ancient culture and the worldview from a different perspective and belief system.

Great Gift
I grew up with this book. My mom read it to me frequently. 4 decades later, I gift a copy to my little nephew. Very pleased.

Favorite for Kids’ Norse Mythology
My students love the stories in this Norse Mythology book. The illustrations are colorful and attractive, the stories are well written and entertaining, and I love the large size of the book.

Buy This. And then go buy the Greek Myth one too.
I was first introduced to the work of d'Aulaire back in the 5th grade, many years ago, with the Book of Greek Myths. Decades later I stumbled across this gem on Amazon and bought it immediately. The illustrations are just as good as in the Greek book, and they convey the dark flavor and material culture of the Norse in a satisfying way. The writing is uniformly clear, and the author shows again their ability to distill the essence of many mythological sources into one relatively continuous and internally logical narrative. Certainly not a replacement for scholarly sources, but excellent for both children and those more learned who appreciate seeing this material treated in an approachable and enjoyable way that conveys the alien and human nature of the Norse myths.

Introduction to Norse Myths
My husband and I are taking cruise in Norway to enjoy the northern lights late this fall. I bought this book as an introduction to read to my husband and daughter. The stories are charmingly told. Story by story, D’aulaires’ builds the Norse cosmos, from beginning to end. Out of all the stories, “Thor and the Joton Utgardsloki” takes the cake. It’s by far the most humorous and lighthearted story of the bunch, though “The Theft of Thor’s Hammer” takes a close second. Good introduction to Norse mythology.

Beautiful. It covers the most important Gods and myths... Of course it is not as detailed, but the history of creation and the different worlds are fantastically described... Recommendation: Yes!

This book is stunningly illustrated and is simply written for children. My two kids aged 8 and 10 absolutely love it and it has complemented our learning of the Viking period and it’s wonderful mythology. It’s a good quality book printed on nice paper and has a old age book feel to it. It’s the perfect addition to anyone’s library and I imagine always remembering it growing up.
