Better than I expected
Here's my amateur gear junky review: The carabiner is built very tought for being plastic and the spring for the clip mechanism is very strong. You can pinch a piece of your shirt and clip it onto your shirt with no fear of it falling off. You don't even need a zipper to attach it to like you see in the picture. This is good because you know it's quality but it does mean that one handed attachment is kinda hard. Similar shaped carabiners at gas stations simply don't hold a candle to this thing; this is the real deal. The light cycles Disco mode, then Red, Green, Blue, and White is last. Disco mode blends smoothly into the next color rather than jump directly into it. A nice little touch although I would like to see the next version allow you to choose one of these intermediate colors. The 3 color setting are sufficient for now and still very good. There is also no adjustment for the color intensity, although this isn't a problem either as they have already adjusted this lantern with nearly the perfect amount of light. It's already very well thought out for night time use and preserving your night vision. Disco starts with Red which is great because the next choice is also Red. This means that you can double click the light and it goes straight to Red mode without disturbing your night vision. Simply hold the button for one second and it turns off. This allows you to operate it in a Red-Only mode. Red is the dimmest of the 3 colors but it does allow enough light for basic tasks and even some reading. Some people may find this color sufficient for all tasks although I feel the other choices have better appeal for certain situations. The next color is Green. This is the most powerful of the 3 colors and it's a good choice after Red so that you can get to powerful lighting a little faster when you need it. I would use this for trail walking, map reading, or tasks where more visibility is needed without affecting my night vision too much. I've read that it's also better for not disturbing wild life as much. After Green is Blue. This color provides the best compromise of brightness and preservation of night vision. It has about as good of a throw as Green but up close it doesn't reflect back as nicely, making print slightly harder to read certain multicolor print or maps. Still, holding the light a little closer always yeilds sufficient light for just about any task, even in Red mode. I think Blue provides the best mood lighting and is another reason I ordered a second one. Last is White. It's a cooler white, I'd say close to 5000k temp Color. It reflects back off of maps nice and true, giving you all the details and color that you'd expect from White light. This is the most powerful choice of all the choices, even a little more so than Green although I have to say Green on a trail might be preferable. If you're going to be up at night reading a book in the tent, this is probably going to be your best color. It's good that they included last in rotation so that you don't ruin your night vision. Staring directly at it in White mode would probably take a little of your night vision away, although I don't think it would be terrible. This lantern has enough light for where it's going to be used; in a tent or small room. Once your eyes adjust to the night it becomes apparent that you actually don't need a powerful flashlight for most tasks. If you've ever been in the desert at night time you know what I mean. This is a fun little light that well built and actually very useful. Preserving my night vision is important for star gazing as well as stealth camping. Being rechargeable makes you want to use it more. The rear cap comes off and you plug it in to charge with a mini-usb. Watch for the little lip on the cover, you need to orient it again so that it swings freely through the carabiner when you re-attach it. Light turns green when it's ready. Lasts plenty long enough and it's built tough enough to throw it into your pack and not think too much about it. These aren't exactly the cheapest lights but then again there isn't another light so well thought out as these. They're perfect for what they are supposed to be and actually turned out much better than I thought it would. I can't wait till the second one arrives and then I get to play with setting 2 of them up!

It's way easier to open than people realize
I use it as a tent light to replace my mini lantern I used to have. It's incredibly light, compact, bright, rechargable, weather proof, and simple to use. Exactly what I was looking for! The lanyard is perfect to hang at the top of the tent. The red light is first so it doesn't damage your night vision. And the cover is very easy to open. The misconception is that it isn't flexible. You need to peel it open, not clip/pop it open. Like you're opening a can with a pull tab.

Great lights for dog's harnesses
These provide great light for my dogs' walks in the dark. I have to recharge every couple of weeks. Considering each walk 25 minutes, it is good. The only negative is that it is very hard to remove the top of the light to recharge it. It must be tight to be waterproof. This is the second version I've had of these and it is an improvement. I'd get them again!

Perfect for hanging in your tent...
Not overly bright. Great for hanging in your tent. The RGB is a fun function. The white is bright enough to read a map or a book. Battery life is excellent. The only bad thing is you have to pop the back cover to charge it but not a huge deal. The swivel feature is also excellent. It positively engages and stays where you put it.

Awesome little light
This doesn't put out nearly enough light to replace a headlamp, handheld flashlight or even your phone's flashlight, but it's the greatest little weak light that I own. When tent camping, I usually use the green setting and it provides enough light for me to do whatever I need to do while still maintaining enough night vision to view the stars above or get out of the tent and move around without a flashlight. This weekend, while RV camping with family, my granddaughters' nightlight wouldn't work but this thing handled the job without issue. It lit up the RV enough to make them happy and burned for eight hours until it died. And, it only takes about an hour to recharge when completely dead. This light is well worth the money.

Almost perfect, but not at all.
So I'll start with the good. It's small enough that it won't bother me clipped to my shoulder straps on my backpack while hiking. It's the perfect brightness and size to illuminate my sleeping area and the fact that it's rechargeable and has non-white settings is a big bonus over the previous version that I also own and was very happy with. HOWEVER. ONE HUGE, STUPID, ANNOYING FLAW became incredibly apparent the instant I turned it on. It STARTS IN DISCO MODE. The thick waterproofed rubber shell means you gotta put some serious pressure on the single button just to turn it on, but the fact that it starts in the most useless mode available means you'll need to do it twice -at least- to get to a useful light (red). If you want white light, you'll have to muscle this button down four times quickly. FOUR TIMES. And it doesn't remember your last selection, so you'll need to do this EVERY TIME you want white light. It's so nice, but this enormous, stupid avoidable design flaw makes me want to return it. Nite Ize should fire whoever programmed this light.

La variedad de colores es útil desde para iluminar en el blanco, como para emergencia con el color rojo. Aunque hay que tomar en cuenta que no es de alta intensidad.

This is very small and lightweight and for a few days backpacking this worked absolutely perfect in my tent. It seemed pretty dim, not much light when I tested it at home but out on the trail up in the dark in the mountains in the it tent gave off plenty of light when getting ready for bed.

Great for in a tent or under a tarp. I left it on for 10 hours straight to test battery. And it didn't die. The down fall is some of my power banks won't charge it because it doesn't draw enough power for the power bank to realize something is plugged in.

A little bit larger than I thought it was going to be, but works perfectly as a lantern for my hammock tent! I like that it clicks into place too. Rechargeability was what convinced me to buy it. No more wasteful batteries! Well done Nite Ize!

for some reason mine has a very very bad odour that won't go away. Haven't gave it a good use yet but noticed the button is pretty hard to push.
