Leather is sturdy, paper is thick and raggy, and the look is absolutely ancient. It closes in a wedge, narrower at the fore-edge and wider at the spine, due to the thick leather lacing. As a result, there's room to paste in photos, poke a new hole in the strap, and it will bulk up nicely Note: it has a smell on it - there's the usual leather smell, plus an overpowering chemical smell which is not nice. I expect it will air out in time and don't mind the wait. It's a very nice piece, well worth the price. Edit: It's been three days and the bad smell is mostly gone. Only noticeable if I actually put my nose to it.

I love this journal. The pages are thick, so no ink will bleed through. Can also be used with stamps, junk journal type things like washi tapes, glue, stickers, lace, ribbon etc. The leather is soft, beautiful and smells so good. Still trying to find the best pens to use. Gel isn’t the best choice. But I love this journal.

I love to journal, it's helped my mental health so much throughout the years. I wasn't looking for a new journal just yet, but I stumbled across this one and fell in love with how thick it was. I was going to get the smaller one but I got the 10x8 and it's the PERFECT size. not too big, not too small. I'm obsessed! It's so beautiful, the pages are cotton and absorb ink like a dream. I am so honored that my thoughts and feelings and memories get to be inside of something so beautiful. I can't wait to fill this up and buy this exact journal again and again and again. Never going back to any other journal brand. It's a no brainer! Just get it!

These journals are worth the price. Be warned they do smell like old saddle leather or old leather coats. I personally like the smell! Some people may not. The paper is good quality and not uniform. The color is not uniform either. But close. The leather cover is very soft and a good quality. I have not regretted a single one of the four journals I bought from leather Village.

This journal is EVERYTHANG!!! I love the way it feels in my hands, the way it looks, the coloring, and the craftsmanship. It is worth every penny and I will definitely buy another on.

The look, feel, and smell of good, durable leather! The look and feel of durable canvas paper. For those who love Dungeons and Dragons, this journal would be great as a Wizard's spell book, with not just the spells a Wizard would learn, but all the spells of all the classes could go into this thing as a master spell book. And at a great price, too!

Right now, I have the journal inside a sealed plastic case with odor absorbers, and I’m hoping for the best. But my God, you will not believe that this smells like! Not good! Hoping this works. If not, I’m going to fall back on putting it in clean unscented kitty litter. In either case it has to be left for days if not weeks to try to get rid of the smell. Update: after putting it in a clear plastic box with clean kitty litter, a box of baking soda, and a charcoal, outer absorber, and leaving it for a few weeks, the smell has gone away more or less and it’s usable now. Everywhere I go people comment on how beautiful this journal is.
