This box absorbs stain like crazy. But you might have to sand it down before and after stain for smooth silky surface 😉

Used these for centerpieces for my daughter’s birthday, they turned out great. If you choose to stain with something light like fruitwood it take at least three coats for it to be noticeable.

it’s very small but it’s still space able

I used this for my lesson of the Queen of Sheba visiting Kiing Solomon, and filled it with trinkets. But first I put some brown paint on a paper towel and stained the outside brown. The kids were amazed that I had a treasure box just like the one in the story picture.

Pictured is an unstained box (how the set of 2 arrived) and a stained box. These treasure chests are great! Arrived in a timely fashion, undamaged, and in great working order. They are lightweight, so won't hold up yo hard play, but are good for moderate to gentle play or display. I stained one myself with a foam brush easily. They are raw and without sealant, so will take up paint, as well. I'd recommend sealing to avoid discoloration after you've painted or stained.
