Grow Your Own Cigars: growing, curing and finishing tobacco at home

If you want a good book on growing tobacco, buy this one. It’s from a great grower/author, and he’s available in an online tobacco forum along with many others for support. Bob Goff is a real dedicated, talented, knowledgeable, and experienced home grower who is much admired today in the circles of home tobacco growers. If you want to learn, this book will set you on your way to go as far as you want to go.

Wanted to learn to grow my own cigar tobacco, and this seamed like the best place to start. After read through the "growing the tobacco" part of the book, the clear and comprehensible writing style of this author has this non-gardener excited to try and grow my own cigars. The information flows in a manner that keeps you engrossed in the prosses, and is the first technical book I have found hard to put down. After leafing through the rest of the book it is geared towards cigars, but is also applicability if you want to grow tobacco for pipes, cigarettes, or smokeless uses. Great purchase!

but I wish it gave more details on each species of tobacco plants rather than one paragraph for each subcategory of tobacco plants.

Covers everything you need to know from selecting which varieties to grow to successfully blending your own cigars, cigarettes, and pipe tobacco. The author details the steps necessary to take your tiny seeds from transplant to harvest, covering nutrient needs of the plants to pest control and disease prevention. Packed with valuable information; an excellent reference text!

As per title, this book surpassed my expectations. Often these DIY books just aren't very good, and just parrot random posts from web forums or something like that. I'm a pipe smoker and the chapter on pipe tobacco is very helpful. Quite well done. If you are thinking of growing your own tobacco for whatever purpose you should buy this book.

This book seems to answer every tobacco growing, processing, packaging, usage question that I have. And then some! This book is thick and thorough.

This book is a great resource for anyone wanting to grow and process tobacco at home.
