I got this knife for use behind the bar I work at to cut fruit and other various items like frozen purée. Straight out of the box this knife is insanely sharp. It cut through frozen purée blocks very easily in addition to fruits like limes, oranges, lemons and pineapple. I love the plastic knife sheath that comes with it for ease and safe keeping while in transport to and from work. Overall exactly what I was hoping for and does the job perfectly.

Zyliss makes great gadgets, and this knife is great!

The knife is designed and manufactured very well. The blade is made from a good Japanese steel that holds a sharp edge and doesn't rust. I like the sheath it comes with, so the knife doesn't bang around in the drawer with other utensils. The handle is comfortable, and the blade has a slight curve which lets me roll the knife when I'm slicing if I so desire, but it will chop straight down on the cutting board too. Whether you buy an expensive knife or an inexpensive one, you have to have it sharpened occasionally by either a pro or yourself. (It takes some practice to get the hang of sharpening.) You can spend a couple hundred on a beautifully made European knife, a joy to behold, and I can appreciate how it could be worth your expense. But this one works very well, if you can live without the luxury. I expect to use it for many years. So why only four stars? I'll leave the fifth star for the sexy European knives.

I love this knife. Super sharp right out of the box. Holds an edge. The only draw. Back is the handle is alittle to narrow for me.
