Amazing book. Plenty if photos of up close details of his paintings. The scholarship is great, a world renowned expert on Velázquez. The book itself, as an object, it’s spotless, great quality, as usual from Taschen. If you like Velázquez, don’t even hesitate to get this.

It also has many huge detail reproductions. The book is massive so you can clearly see the paint handling. The text seems pretty thorough if you’re interested in the scholarship side of things.5 stars easy. Totally worth the cost.

Gorgeous eye candy from one of the greatest painters of all time! I love to curl up on the couch and pore over these paintings. Of course, I'd rather see them in person, but since I can't, this book is a great substitute.

Portraits seem so real they are breathing. Surprised the Catholic Church didn't try to burn Velasquez at the stake for witchcraft.

Great book. Almost an historical novel. The paintings are reproduced well. I will be looking for a more recent book on Velazquez because this book indicates many of the paintings were under restoration at the time of printing and I would like to see how they turned out. The historical data is fascinating. What an artist!
