Baby Medical School: Vaccines: Learn about the Science of Immunity and How Vaccines Keep Us Healthy! (A Human Body Book for Kids, Back to School Gifts and Supplies) (Baby University) Review: Help your kid understand vaccines and viruses better than most adults - The Baby Medical School "Doctor's Visit" was recommended by a blog to help prep kids for their annual physicals and shots. My daughter does really well with new/scary experiences if we can talk about it, read books about it, or find online videos or tv show episodes about what we will do. So, I purchased that one to help prep for her 4 year old well child, and saw this as a suggested "Also Buy." Well, she had been asking a lot about coronavirus, vaccines, and germs so I purchased as well. Both books are AMAZING at helping young kids comprehend medical stuff at their level. This Vaccines book walks through what a virus is, how a vaccine works, and how the body fights off viruses. It's pretty, cute, and fun, but also (as far as I know) scientifically accurate. Maybe simplifies it a bit, but obviously considering the audience that's fine. As you read you can bring in other things they are learning like shapes and patterns (the viruses have little patterned spike proteins, and then the antigens the body makes have the same pattern spikes, etc.). "Baby Medical School" is a bit of a misnomer, as it's definitely at a preschool age. A baby would probably find the pictures fun, but I think 2.5-6 years old is probably the ideal target for the content. Possibly older like 6-12 years old if you can get them to sit and look at a board book. My daughter has since taught her preschool class about viruses, antibodies, macrophages, and vaccines. I was asked by other parents at drop off if my husband or I was an infectious disease researcher (LOL no, we are just run of the mill government worker/engineer) because she had taught their kids so much. I sent them off to buy a copy for themselves. Because she understands the reasons why we wear our masks, and why the adults are all getting vaccinated, her anxiety around COVID has decreased. She did get so happy to hear her teacher was vaccinated against COVID-19 that she started to cry (a typical joyful-tears response for my empathetic kid) and keeps asking when it's her turn. Review: Fun and informative - Fighting the tide of disinformation in our society is an uphill battle. The average lifespan in the 1600s was 35 years old and one of the biggest factors extending our lives has been vaccines. Our child will grow up understanding how things work so she can make informed decisions for herself when she's older. This book is cute, easy to read and will even help adults who haven't taken a micro biology class in many years refresh their knowledge.

Should be in every doctor’s office (for adults and kids)
It’s a great book that explains shots, germs and immune system to my 4 year old very well. He now clearly understands why people get shots and how they work. Despite being a baby book, it breaks down some complicated science into very simple concepts for everyone to understand, that I honestly think it should go into every doctor’s office (for both adults and kids).

Great, Fun Book
My son adores this book - I got it for his third birthday. He's always bringing it up to me, asking me to read it. It's an easy to read, colorful, fun book that gives a simple explanation about vaccines. Love it!

Very easy to understand
I'm a biochemistry major so it was pretty exciting reading this to my 4 month old son. Of course he doesn't understand it yet but he likes the pictures. The concepts are simplified nicely and I'm sure when he learns what words mean this will be very educational.

This book is fantastic. It explains viruses and the immune system really well on top of explaining vaccines. Bright colours and really easy to follow - perfect for both my 3 and 6 year olds.

For a layperson, this is a simple read for parents to share with their children. Useful especially during pandemic times
