This is simply an amazing review of fashion and of the history surrounding it. The graphics and photos are wonderfully placed and enhance the reading experience. At 460 pages, it's layout makes it very easy to pick an era and dive deep into the people, cultures and events that serve to inform the fashion of that time. Informative, educational and at times a sweet trip down memory lane.

Undoubtedly the most informative, balanced, and beautiful survey of modern fashion history available in English. Also one of the very few to take readers into important developments from the 2000s.

A good reference book

What a beautiful and comprehensive book ! Each chapter is devoted to a particular decade and broken down into social, economic , and artistic background of the era, basic fashion shapes and innovations, designers, with sub-topics such as outerwear, sportswear, hair and beauty, children's wear, menswear, lingerie, as well as topics germane to each decade. It is lavishly illustrated, with images that are mostly new to me. The text is delightful and informative, but never dry or academic. Highly recommended !

Bien estructurado, da una panorámica general muy completa

I bought this as a gift for my mother, but I found it absolutely fascinating and full of wonderful photographs. I'm not into fashion myself like she is, but I found it really interesting to read too. It made an excellent gift for her, but I'd be happy to receive it myself too.

I am most familiar with fashion from the 80s and 90s so I started with these sections first. This text book did justice to these eras in a very thorough manner. I love how the authors incorporated influence from art, music, and entertainment to demonstrate how fashion was inspired by these various forms of media. It was great reading about certain designers who are gone but not forgotten. I can't wait to learn more about the history of modern fashion as I explore the rest of the textbook.

An interestingly written book - talks about the social & cultural influences on fashion more than the actual fashion itself. Does have an American POV so there were a few things that this UK reader felt were missing or strangely emphasized.... Glad I bought it though.

Dependiendo de lo que buscas puede ser un buen libro. Tiene algunas buenas imagines pero menos de lo esperado en un libro de su tamaño. Hay más texto que imágenes. El nivel del lenguaje es como mucho segundo de la ESO lo que puede ser una ventaja si no eres fluente en inglés. A mi no me gustó, me pareció demasiado básico.
