Maxmoral 1-Pack Surface Mounted Switch Socket Backbox with Single Gang Mount Panel

I can't for the life of me figure out why they don't sell something similar to this at the Home Depot near me. In any case, my husband and I were installing some new light switches in our apartment and didn't want to have to carve out the sheet rock to install them. The only heads up I'll give is that the screw holes were slightly too big for the standardized screw that came with the switch that we purchased separately. We had to improvise, and were able to find some screws from another project that fit with this one. Otherewise, it works as described.

Perfect. Had to install a new controller on/off switch with surface mount but shielded romex wiring. This worked great. Nice product.

No instructions, only two small screws for mounting face plate. Can't mount actual switch inside and face plate without screwing into the frame with wood screws. Thought it would be a bit more user friendly.

I got 3 of these boxes in total and my advice.... keep looking! Normal outlet and switch screws DO NOT work with this. I don't know if they are metric, but they will not tighten and won't hold the outlet in the box. I tried numerous screws from outlets and although they worked with other boxes, none worked for these boxes. I had to modify sheet metal screws to securely attach the outlets to the boxes. The manufacturer needs to actually check that their product works. Ridiculous.

This box is low profile so it fits right underneath the kitchen cabinet without it sticking out. The biggest problem is that it does not use standard screws for a regular light switch or outlet. It takes an m4 screw the length is not that important. I picked a couple up at Lowe's

The shallow depth worked great for my project. Looks great.
