What did you find to be the best size needle for working with the dmc diamant metallic thread?

I use a size 5 embroidery needle but that's what I usually use.

Is this thread made with actual metal too other than polyester? If so, what type of metal?

No metal in the 2 shades I have. The copper is 72% viscose (rayon) and 28% polyester. The ruby red is 100% polyester.
