Maui Jim Polarized Men's Local Kine Wrap Sunglasses

I'm loving these sunglasses. I have a large head (size 7.5 or XL hat) and these fit very well. They clasp the sides of the head nicely and will not slide off. The size and shape of the lenses ensures a good fit around the eyes (snug but not too tight), and the wide temples block a considerable amount of light coming from the sides. For the record, my wife tried them on and they seem to fit her smaller, narrower face well as well. A gift idea for her birthday? That suggests that these glasses might be a bit too snug for those with really big noggins (size 8+). These glasses are incredibly light, perhaps the lightest Maui Jim sunglasses I've ever owned except for pair of Breakwall that are rimless. The frame is a glossy black plastic on the outside, and a soft textured grey inside that makes handling these glasses strangely sensual. (Yes, I'm weird.) Non-slip material is used where the glasses sit on the nose and above the ears. As I lifted these glasses off my nose for the first time, they made a slight popping sound. These glasses will not likely slip, though I haven't yet tried them under conditions where I might be perspiring heavily. I chose the blue lenses because I thought they would brighten and saturate reds and greens but darken blues, including the sky, and that is exactly what they do. That is how I like to look at the world. All and all, these sunglasses seem well engineered and of good quality. Stylistically, I think them handsome and sporty. They have become my new favorite Maui Jim's. Regarding price, they are the most expensive sunglasses I've ever purchased, but I think the value is good. You generally get what you pay for, after all.

After many attempts with cheaper sunglasses, I decided to go back to my long-ago favorite Maui Jim's. It's a world of difference. Super clear, polarization works beautifully. I can read with them on, even in the brightest sunlight. The UV blocking works as advertised (as proven by my sunburn "mask" recently). I love the mirroring effect and distinctive blue color. I've included cropped photos of how these sunglasses fit on my large noggin (L/XL hat-size). There's also a clever new case that's barely larger than the sunglasses, very lightweight (but sturdy) and folds completely flat. A vast improvement over the bulky old cases. Honestly I cringed at spending this much on sunglasses (and why brand-name sunglasses cost so much is an interesting story unrelated to this review) but the quality is notably, palpably better than even 50-100 dollar models. Glass lenses instead of plastic make a huge difference in refraction. The build is solid. But one word of advice? Get some sunglass "keepers" (cord that fits the ends of the earpieces) so your expensive new purchases with glass lenses doesn't end up on the ground (or in the ocean). Recommended.

I recently purchased the Maui Jim Local Kine sunglasses in shiny black frames with grey lenses, and I couldn't be happier with my choice! Additionally, so far, the durability is impressive. While they’re not the cheapest option, the fact that these sunglasses are priced under $300 is remarkable given their exceptional quality. Not at all like the older maui Jim’s feels very cheap. After 9 pairs I mite have to look for a different brand.

Nice glasses but give me a break Maui Jim. Like going back to your original zipper sun glasses Case. And could you also include a larger glass cleaner. Step up and make your extras seal the deal. I think by me spending 300$ well deserves it.

These glasses are so light that the case feels empty. They fit so no light comes around the frame. The green/blue filtering they do causes a slight pink tint that is weird for a day or so then not noticeable. Optics are perfect. Polarization is effective but different from regular polarized. If you hold them up to the sky and rotate them, there isn't a change, but they do cut glare well. They also look pretty cool. The green color is striking.

Bought these to replace a pair of Oakley sunglasses having previously had Maui Jim's for a number of years when I lived in sunnier climes. I have to say the quality of these, particularly the lenses, is astonishing and would recommend these to anyone who really values optical quality in sunglasses

La calidad de los lentes Maui Jim es inigualable. Uso los lentes de este color principalmete para manejar, en los dias nublados o lluviosos, elimina el reflejo del agua y no se ve muy oscuro como otros lentes. El único problema con este modelo es que son algo pesados y con el sudor se resbalan un poco.

Trotz schlechte Rezensionen hatte ich mich doch entschieden zu bestellen. Leider wurde auch ich enttäuscht. Die Brille war leider zerkratzt. Was darauf hindeutet das die Qualitätskontrolle bei diesem Lieferanten nicht gegeben ist. Die Brille geht zurück.
