You get more than your money's worth!!
Great flavor and even better texture, I have ate my weight with all types of jerky and this is the best jerky I have ever ate! This is the 3 rd pound of this jerky I have purchased. The cost may scare off most people but this a whole pound of great tasting jerky. They take their time and the end product shows their effort! Yum ; )

Old School, Delicious
Jerkies prepared like this is a pretty rare find in a grocery store, unless you start to go out into the country. Dry and salty, these make excellent treats, but I recommend you eat them a few pieces at a time. I wasn't crazy about the flavor - it's very salty, like the old world would have prepared perishables for long storage with salt - kind of salty. It's also drier - yet tender - so if you're in for a specific mouthfeel from beef jerkies, this might not be an ideal choice. I did like it though, because it was both nostalgic, and gave me a chance to appreciate a sense of a long-standing tradition/practice. I perceived this as good value when compared with other beef jerkies, which to me seemed to have far too much waterweight to the price per ounce I was paying. This is a full bag of very dry jerky. It reconstituted to much more in my stomach :)

This stuff is ridiculous.
This is good quality jerky, not too sweet, not to moist. However... I like hot jerky but I’m not that guy who buys jerky that claims it will melt your face or punish you. Where’s the enjoyment in that? This jerky didn’t claim to be some stupidly insane hot product. I had a couple pieces and thought, “this is perfect, good dryness, good flavor”. I ended up having about 6 pieces before deciding that this stuff was something different. It started to hurt my stomach. Next day, it ruined my guts. But, being slow to learn, I decided I just needed to eat less. Two pieces, I decided I was done. So I took it to work and gave it to the macho guy who always claims nothing is hot enough. I watched him eat 2 pieces, just like me...” this is good...not too hot.” So I said he could have it. The next day he comes to work and says..” I don’t want that, it hurt my guts.” Of course I had to laugh.😃 So I decided to try to give it to someone else. Another guy who’s so macho that nothing is ever hot enough. Same results...he says..”I do want that stuff..hurt my guts”🤣 At this point, I decided that the 30$ I spent on the jerky was worth the entertainment value, even if I couldn’t eat it. I would not buy it again though... it’s like a novelty gag. I’m sure someone is going to say..” oh it’s not that hot.” It isn’t. It taste good. But then after several pieces, your tongue starts going numb and then your stomach hurts. Then, 12 hours later...well...it isn’t pleasant...and stays unpleasant for some time.🤣 So, go ahead and buy it..all you guys that insist that I just can’t handle the heat. Enjoy

Carolina Reaper Powder - but why?
I love spicy things. Thai food and indian food are delicious and I like those dishes fully hot. But I don't just like hot for heat, I want flavor too! Having said that. This jerky is beyond spicy. I think "flaming hot" isn't close enough to describe the product. "Flaming Hot" Cheetos are nothing, but this jerky was killing me after a few pieces. Then I realized why after reading the ingredients "Carolina Reaper Powder" which explains a lot. Oh, and it's going to burn a hole through your stomach and the 2nd burn is going to be quiet unpleasant. Thank goodness I have a bidet. I think if that was the end of it I'd be OK with the spicy jerky. I can take the heat, even though it's brutal. But with almost all hot peppers beyond Habaneros they all have an extremely bitter taste that you need to address if you're cooking with it. Unfortunately they did not address the bitter taste with the flavoring on this jerky so it wasn't good, but with your mouth on fire from Carolina Reaper Powder you won't be tasting much after the first bite or two anyways. It's just hot and gross. The meat is a little bit moist, but not too much. My problem with the meat is that I had a lot of fatty pieces and the fat wasn't very nice since it was still too moist, it was very chewy in a bad way. Also a lot of pieces had tendon and gristle. The cuts of meat hadn't been cleaned very well and seemed low quality. I just can't recommend this.

Great Quality
The real deal! This isn’t your run-of-the-mill Jerky that’s been chemically softened and tastes like all the rest. This is dry and hearty. The Old Country is perfect for someone who likes salt and doesn’t like Jalapeño in everything on the planet. There is just enough black pepper to get your attention, and the flavor is really good.

Inconsistent from bag to bag...
I love the flavor and bite of this jerky. But each bag is a gamble as to whether the pieces will be rock hard, too soft or just right. First bag we got was great. I little tough but that is the way we like jerky. The second bag was down right TERRIBLE. Each piece was rock hard, with little to no chewiness. So bad we just tossed the whole bag. We gave them another chance and this bag, the pieces were TOO soft and almost mushy. I would have given up at that point, but forgot it was on my Subscribe and Save item list and was sent another bag. Well, this bag was PERFECT. Chewy but not hard and crispy. We ate it in about 5 days. So gave them another chance. Then, this most recent bag is back to being somewhat HARD again. Not rock hard like that one bag, but definitely harder than the last with many pieces. They really need to look into freshness issues, either the shelf life at the Amazon warehouse or what they are producing.

Turkey Jerky
Update 12/29/25: After reaching out directly via the companies website we received a prompt response from them indicating there may have been an issue with the seal on the bag allowing air to get in and harden the product. They are sending a replacement. 5 stars for their customer service !! We had high hopes but this is the worst turkey jerky we have ever had. Extremely dry and hard as a rock. Every other brand of turkey jerky we have ever purchased is moist and almost melts in your mouth. Very disappointed in this purchase, especially for the high price. Maybe it was an old batch, but there wasn’t even best by date that we could find on the package. Will not buy again. If we could’ve returned this, we would have.

Disappointed
Why does a product put on their packaging no/low sugar and then have high fructose corn syrup and brown sugar high in the ingredients? Jerky doesn’t need sugar. It’s like eating a sugar soy salt chew. What’s wrong with traditional jerky? It’s gooy, hard to chew because it doesn’t break up normally, and really sweet and the high saltiness comes from soy sauce. It’s awful. Yes, it’s real pieces of nicely cut meat, but it’s all downhill from there, no taste of meat at all. None. It was supposed to be hickory smoked, non of that comes through. Would have much better, or even edible if the treatment were actually old fashioned. What part of high fructose corn syrup, brown sugar and soy sauce is part of an old fashioned family recipe? I should have read the back of the bag ingredients before ordering, instead of the misleading marketing on the front of the bag. My bad. If you are watching sugar and soy/salt in your diet, don’t eat this jerky. Just mix some syrup and soy sauce in a bowl and drink it, then you don’t have to bother with the impossible endless chewing trying to get it down part.
