Fast stable writer
Got this to replace my 209EBK which failed after a few years of solid service. Manufactured in June 2020 so pretty new. Was recognised instantly on my Win 10 Pro version 2004. did a test write on a DVD-r and a BD -re. Wrote a few GB's of data quickly and without any errors as I let CD burner XP free ware verify the files. It supports M-DISC (Single/Dual) but not BD- xl which are far too expensive anyway.

Seems a good drive for archiving
I bought this drive to burn Blu-ray M-discs for archiving purposes. Put it in my Windows 10 desktop PC, plugged SATA power and data cables in and off it went, no installation issues. So far I've only burnt about 250GB but haven't had any problems, it fills a 25GB M-disc in around one hour burn time, very quietly. The price for the bare drive is reasonable compared to some of the alternatives. You'll need SATA cables (it doesn't come with anything), and you can download the latest firmware from the Pioneer website if you want it.

Need this to 'read' modern gaming DVDs.
Pioneer BDR-212DBK Internal 16x BD/DVD/CD Writer , Black: I purchased this because the old DVD rewriter drive, I had could read CDs and used to work with DVDs but I recently found that for some reason it could not spin up some ‘modern’ gaming DVD’s. One of these was a game from 2013. After trying everything I could short of downloading virus riddled fake drivers off the internet, I figured that the drive probably wasn’t spinning fast enough or didn’t have the latest internal components to run the DVD. Upon connecting it up to my external enclosure my computer recognised the drive immediately and was able to read the DVD in seconds. That was the main thing I needed it for so, if something goes wrong I will come back to update this.

Works with linux
Should work fine with any linux distribution. Writes DVDs quickly. I haven't noticed excessive noise, which was always a common annoyance with these things as they got faster over the years. I haven't tried many different media but what I have it's burned and read without problems.

I'm really pleased with this drive
Recently my DVDRW died in my PC and as I have a large bluray collection I thought I'd invest in a Bluray writer. I did consider getting an external but I have limited desk space and didn't want to keep plugging in a USB drive everytime I wanted to watch anything on bluray so I decided on an internal drive. The drive was very easy to install, I downloaded a free version of Cyberlink PowerDVD and I can now watch my blurays on my PC. I'm really impressed with this drive, its very quiet, unlike my old DVDrom which was noisy when playing DVDs

Excellent quality and value for money
Needed an alternative to dvds for archiving photos and documents. This combined with affordable media made the the choice easy.

Seems to be bullet proof. Runs great.
