The Leksand Crispbread story began when Jon Olofsson and Anna Olsson started a bakery in the 1920s. Anna was locally famous for her baked rusks, which she enjoyed giving to friends, neighbors and even grocery stores who would in turn sell them. Jon, who was more practical, helped Anna turn her talents into a thriving business. The two had five children, three girls and two boys, who all had to start work at the bakery to keep up with demand. Today, the 4th generation of the family still controls the business.Knäcke, also called crisp bread or hard bread, is a staple of the Swedish smörgåsbord. Made of wholemeal rye flour, knäcke is prized for its flavor, nutrition, and the ability to stay fresh for a long period of time if kept cool and dry. Spread with a little butter, knäcke is perfect for topping with cured salmon, herring, cheese, or vegetable dips. Alas ikea replaced this brand with their own which has added mono diglycerides something or other. Nope. If it’s not in my kitchen at home I don’t want it in my food. So I was thrilled to realize I could buy these on desertcart. Note to all the people saying they were sent expired product, it’s a European product so the date is listed date then month. So an expiration of December 10 is 10.12.25 not 12.10.25 as it would be in the US. I think that’s why people think they’ve been sent expired crackers. I’ve never been sent any that were past their date, and honestly I don’t even know that I’d taste the difference if they were. It’s a cracker, folks. And it’s a delicious one at that (if you like rye), plus and it’s got simple, whole ingredients. Same ingredients they were making them with 100 years ago. What’s not to love? Delicious and whole, natural ingredients
I was so happy when I find that IKEA was selling these. I grew up in Europe and LOVED these crackers. Alas ikea replaced this brand with their own which has added mono diglycerides something or other. Nope. If it’s not in my kitchen at home I don’t want it in my food. Healthy and tasty, so much fun

Fantastic flat bread
Like a giant round rye cracker. Crunchy. Goes well with anything you can put on top of it. My favorite is with liver sausage with a glass of port.

Bread came too late for the holidays I placed my order Nov 30
Pkg was ripped and food exposed…bread was stale and hard bread was crumbled into little pieces.

Excellent taste
As someone who ate this type of bread since childhood, I was happy to be able to order it from Amazon. Though it is fragile, there were only a few broken pieces.

Long shelf life
I’m not Swedish nor have I been to Sweden, but I plan to visit next year, and I’m very interested in Sweden so I thought I’d try these out. These are very convenient as they have a long shelf life and are good at any time of day, whether with a meal or as a snack. They are nice and crispy, but not too hard; though they are a bit crumbly. In terms of taste, they are pretty bland on their own, but very good with butter and jam, or even just butter. I even tried them with chive and onion cream cheese as well as Nutella, which were also pretty good.

Great product; but broken in pieces
Product is great; 2nd time I try ordering these larger pieces of knekkebrød. However, they always arrive completely broken; like cereal.., so better buy these larger pieces smaller cut option.

The Best Healthy Cracker I've Found
The taste of this cracker is better than the other healthy crackers we've found. It's lighter and crisper. A little less cardboard flavor and texture. I can actually enjoy it with hummus or cheese, which feels like a win since it's so much better for me than regular crackers.
