Wahl Groomsman Battery Operated Facial Hair Trimmer for Beard & Mustache Trimming Including Light Detailing and Body Grooming – Model 9906-717V

This is a nice, powerful clipper and trimmer. Works very well on thick facial hair. I love that it’s battery operated instead of rechargeable so I can have optimal power when needed with just a quick change of the batteries instead of having to wait for a recharge. All in all, a very good, portable trimmer and a great value for the money.

Why I Need This: I've been shaving with Norelco electric razors for years. And while I like the way they shave, their built-in pop-up trimmer leaves something to be desired. I don't have a beard. But I do have a mustache and sideburns that need to be trimmed. It's not that that Norelco's pop-up trimmer doesn't work. But in order to get the desired results, I have to keep going over the same area multiple times. I thought to myself, if only I could find an inexpensive trimmer that would do the job quickly and easily. Tada! Wahl to the rescue! The Performance: All I can say is wow. For fifteen bucks this little trimmer is amazing. I was all set to buy something a lot more expensive. I'm glad I didn't. First of all, I don't need or want a trimmer for hair in my nose and ears (I prefer scissors and tweezers for that). Secondly, I have no use for a dozen different attachments to trim the hair on my head (my barber would kill me). And thirdly, I'm not the sort of guy who likes to manscape my manly parts, or even think of shaving off my treasure trail (look it up if I lost you). The Cutting Mechanism: Surprisingly for the money, the blade mechanism on this trimmer is not a flimsy piece of stamped metal. The base plate is thick, and it's "precision ground" per Wahl. I believe it. And unlike the crappy trimmer on my Norelco razor, this trimmer contains a lot of closely spaced teeth. The end result is that I can set the length of my sideburns and trim my mustache in about 1/3 the time. Power Requirements: This trimmer does not work or come with a cord. Nor does it have a built-in rechargeable battery. Nor does it come with any batteries at all. It uses two (2) AA batteries that you'll have to supply yourself. You can power it using regular alkaline batteries. But I already have a battery charger and a bunch of rechargeable AA batteries, so that's what I use. Warranty: The warranty on this trimmer is three years. But considering the cheap price, it may not even be worth the cost of postage to return it to Wahl if it quits working. Maintenance: This trimmer is not waterproof. Don't use it in the shower, or use water to clean it. Use the included brush to brush away unwanted hairs in the cutting mechanism. Wahl includes a little bottle of oil. You're supposed to apply a few drops to the cutting mechanism every month. Country of Origin: Unlike some Wahl products that were made in the USA, this trimmer was made in Vietnam. Closing Comments: It's inexpensive, and it works very well for my needs. I didn't mention it earlier, but the shape of this trimmer is easy to hold. I'm very pleased with this product.

So I tend to gravitate to Wahl from past purchases and there quality so no issues with functionality but I removed one star because I feel that the molded plastic packaging it comes in is a hazard not only due to it being plastic and not cardboard but also due to how hard it is to open. Not this time but the last one I got such a paper style cut trying to open it. I know I'm probably nit picking but I'm sure elderly men might not want to fit there way into a plastic package and I'm getting there myself so not picking on age of other people just saying. Other than that I prefer the AA version due to lithium battery being harder to get out to replace and recycle

I FINALLY(!) got that "bastar* blister-pack open! (More on that later). I was SO excited I grabbed the "TALLEST" ATTACHMENT, thinking "THIS IS the SAFEST" because it will keep the BLADES 'FURTHEST' from my 'new beard' and moustache. ~ wrong. What I didn't know is; THAT >"ONE ATTACHMENT"< actually has "FIVE Settings"! Position "ONE" brings the blades "CLOSEST" to the skin! Mine was set to "1" so in seconds my moustache WAS indeed "trimmed and uniform', BUT it was also HALF the length of my beard! Three days later my moustache is just starting to fill-in again. This handsome Trimmer has a WONDERFUL and POWERFUL feel to it. It also offers REAL 'PRECISION' with no dangling cord to distract you. It is perfect for moustache trims above your lips. I must add that RIGID "blister pack amor" is outrageous. I finally opened the damned blister pack off using my 'best' shears and that took at least 10 minutes. ~ It was truly overkill@! Now my best heavy duty shears have a wabble and will never be the same... so expect a battle. I strongly recommend tin snips instead.

Good trimmer especially for those starting out. My guys each have this set for trimming their faces. Has multiple guard sizes. Cleans up their faces nice. Easy to use and clean.

I don't love these at all. First, they're *extremely* loud. Like, comically, disproportionately loud. Like an electric sander, not a compact beard trimmer. I was not expecting that from these. Second, the width of the blade head is wider than the body of the trimmer, so the rectangular edges stick out. This is good for lining up edges, but not for grooming softer, sensitive skin. For that, you need rounded edges you can hold at awkward angles without fear of getting nicked. To further that point, these only trim if you hold them in an upward direction, like a shovel. You can't really turn it around and use them to pull down, in a scraping motion. They won't work in that direction. If you're trimming in, um, awkward directions, you won't get the safe precision you need. These are great (but loud) trimmers for tidying up beards and hair. But I wouldn't use these for any other grooming. I thought they'd be good for that because they're compact, but, naw. Last, the packaging is annoying. It doesn't affect the product. But it's unnecessarily tamper-proof. You're either going to break your scissors trying to cut them out of the hard plastic, or use a box cutter to slash it and awkwardly break them out that way. Overall, I wish I could return them but it's too late.

以前に購入したものを、誤って水没させてしまったので購入。以前は髭やもみあげ処理だけじゃなく、鼻毛カットやらシェーバー機能やら盛りだくさんだったが、こちらは至ってシンプル。でも自分の必要な機能はこれで十分でした。 リチウム電池内臓じゃなく、乾電池や充電池で動く仕様になったのは良い点。お値段も手頃で買いやすいのも良い。
