Very pleasantly surprised about this reel....straight out of the box it feels like its well made. Has a decent weight and balance to it.Certainly not like the lightweight plastic rubbish you usually get at this price. Now lockdown easing will see how it performs in action....but i suspect it will do very well.For the price it bats well above average...very happy with my purchase.Got to use it yesterday at Chesil. Blanked unfortunately but can't blame the reel! Very smooth action ...i loaded with mono...and a fast retrieve.Seriously great value and looks then nuts too!

This reel is a fairly smooth unit but now that I have use it I wish I had bought its bigger brother. I have used it with braid and mono and much prefer to use it with mono. Thinner braids tend to overlap and the reel does little help this. Again I have use it with a spinning rod and a heavyweight 12ft beachcaster, it does not feel particularly at home on the heavy rod.There are a couple of annoying things about it too, it comes with a roll of braid but it would be far better to have a spare spool, not even sure if you can get spares.It has an anti reverse mechanism which is greatly located at the front lower part of the unit , in easy reach of your fingers, unfortunately it is a small rudder like switch that stands proud when activated. As this is not a big reel you can easily hit the switch with your fingers if you grab for the reel or if you use rod rests, the first you will know is when it starts spoiling backwards.The reel has a 5:1 ratio but it feels like you are Winding In forever, this may be to do with the feel of the handle, quite thin feels a little flimsy with the grip lost in your hand.Overall it’s a fair reel, reasonably smooth with a reasonable price, casts ok as long you are not trying to hit the next continent, you could do worst. There are options.
