The Self-Defense Handbook: The Best Street Fighting Moves and Self-Defense Techniques [Fury, Sam, Germio, Neil] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Self-Defense Handbook: The Best Street Fighting Moves and Self-Defense Techniques Review: Everything needed to know for Modern Street Survival! - This book contains everything that a non-martial artist needs to review and practice with a competent training partner for his/her basic self-defense needs. All essential topics are covered, from kidnap and rape scenarios, to multiple opponents, to "square-offs" against 1 opponent to knife and firearm defense. The information, based on 24 years of my personal Martial Arts study and experience as well as my personal Street confrontations are very good, except for the weapons defense, which seem to me to be theoretical and not "battle-tested" by the author himself. I like that the book's knowledge is derived from various Martial Arts that have been proven effective in the Street. Also, there is no guarantee of implementing a successful defense against any armed attacker since some armed attackers are very "experienced" with violence and crime. Overall, this is an excellent book for a non-martial artist or a novice to Martial Arts and Self Defense since an experienced Martial Artist will find the techniques very basic, especially if he practices a combatives-based Martial Art like Krav Maga, JKD or Hapkido. Nevertheless, even an experienced practicioner of "The Arts" needs to constantly and regularly review the basics of Modern Street Survival. He also has crime and threat avoidance in this book too, which is the essence of Self Protection: avoiding the assault altogether. Review: Spot on!! Relevant!!! - Must have for us “Older folks!!” I’m a 71 y/o RN and still work full time! After Burners on & 1 he in the gym everyday!!

Great how to book for self defense
This book is great for how to defend yourself in multiple scenarios. Though it doesn't offer much in the way of recognizing when it's appropriate. The wording and pictures are relatively easy to understand. Of course, I will still need to spend a lot of time practicing before I am confident that I can execute any of this when in danger. There were a couple moves that I intend to look up on YouTube. Not because I think this book is deficient, but because it was a bit on the complicated side and I don't think any description or picture combination would be enough for me to know I'm doing it right. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review, but my opinions are my own.

Efficient, Concise, Effective - Like the Author's Self Defense Style
Sam Fury does a great job with this book on self-defense. His style of writing and teaching is very concise and to the point. He wastes no words. Like well-timed and expertly placed jabs, he tells you exactly what you need to know for each defensive and offensive move. This book is written to be reviewed while sparring, learning, or practicing with a partner. That's the best way to take advantage of the knowledge that Sam Fury shares with the reader. To read the book straight through, it won't take long at all. But the real benefit will be seen by practicing perhaps just one to three moves at a time. At that rate, this book can take months to finish and years to master. If you value your life and want to protect yourself and those you love, you'll definitely want to take this more methodical approach. If you are an absolute beginner, you will find all the info you need to get started. However, if you are the type that needs extra details or would like to read about the theories behind the moves, anecdotal stories of how the moves have helped in specific situations, or the history of kung fu, this book isn't for you. This book is about what you NEED to know to start becoming more competent in defending yourself or someone you love in a confrontational situation. Each exercise is accompanied by at least one or two drawings demonstrating the steps of the moves. If you are into martial arts already, this book will likely be too basic for you. However, Sam does provide a variety of techniques here... so if you haven't strayed away from a single martial art, this book might serve as a nice intro to other moves. There is no fluff, no filler. Just what you need to get started on your personal development in becoming a guardian of your life and others. By the way, great little bonuses thrown in at the end of the book as well. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Der Autor ist kein Experte für Selbstverteidigung. Das Buch wirkt zusammengeschrieben aus anderen Büchern und dem Internet. Es wollte wohl jemand mal ein Buch herausbringen und Geld verdienen.
