Great knife. My 2nd Dave Foss. Don't let price alone mislead thoughts of something being cheap and unworthy (all the time). I'd call the cost of this knife as "economical, not cheap. If you want to pay more, they're out there. I own several American made Buck knives and would say this knife is practically in the same league. Designed in America, made in China, but not the well known communist China. (If you're surfing around and find a similarly worded review, I assure you I'm for real, this isn't a bogus copy/paste fake review, I own this particular Ned Foss Bowie knife and the other one, Ned Foss 9.6" Hunting knife) Craftsmanship is awesome, beautiful very sharp blade, serrations are real, not just for show. Nice sheath but some kind of design or texturing would have improved it's overall eye-appeal. But, the sheath isn't the business part of any knife. Beefy full tang blade/handle end to end, no welding. If you break it you're probably going to be going the hospital or the chain broke at the same time by using it for what a knife is not made for. Balance is pleasantly, and surprisingly, spot on considering the overall size. For survival, this will work on a true ferro rod (not flint) to start fires. If you need a bigger knife, you're not in survival mode, you're in lumberjack mode and should have a chainsaw to do what this knife can't (easily). Hardness is up there but since I don't have a hardness tester, I used the old fashioned method of testing with a steel file (in an inconspicuous area) and although is left a minor scratch, almost invisible, you don't want a knife to be as hard as a file, it'll break before it bends and be too brittle. Don't be alarmed because it's magnetic. There are various types of SS and the magnetic type is excellent for a knife. It arrived sharp enough to shave hair off my arm so I'm not messing with it until it needs it. (The phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is a good rule to live by) I have absolutely zero negatives to mention about this knife and shipping was on-time. I recommend this knife to anyone looking for this type and size of knife (not practical for carrying around town and likely to cause undue attention from the wrong source), I'd buy it again if I ever wear this one out (still have my kabar from 40 years ago so not likely i'll live to be 100 and still able to use this knife)...LOL) As a gift, it will put a big smile on an mans face (or womans). My son's father gifted it to me for fathers day, made me smile ☺

I'll start by saying my 5 star is driven by level of quality compared to price. It would still be a 4 star at any price. My best knife is a Tops Operator 7 which is perfection to my way of thinking. This knife has a similar feel, weight and balance. Didn't shave my forearm on arrival but 15 minutes got it there. Finish quality compares well to more expensive knives. Sheath isn't up to the knife quality as it seems a bit thin in the belt loop but I generally make kydex sheaths for my knives so not an issue for me. GREAT knife for the price that I don't have to worry about abusing with heavy use. To say I was surprised at the quality at this price would be an understatement.

I got this knife as a gift from my gf. I was expecting a darker handle like those pictures. As mine is a walnut-cherry color woo handle. Cureos what type of wood it is. I'm upset over it because I've bought a few knives from this seller and this is the only issue I have. I would be willing to return the product to have one with a dark handle shipped maybe? It would mean alot. As for the knives build it's honestly exceptional. I've lived in Appalachia my whole and know and grew up using knives to carve and am a avid knife collector. This knife is honestly as nice as some of my 300 dollar knives. Quality knife at a great price. Like I said this knife is built better than more than one 100 dollar knives I have. And when you swing the knife and feel how it cuts through the air you will understand why it says slash through anything life throws your way, honestly it will in my opinion. As stated I am upset with the color of my handle as I thought it would be darker color wood. And also the knife came with a brown sheath instead of the one shown in photos. The one in photos has buttons on the front. This is another reason I chose this knife. So again I've heard you have great customer service and I got my knives on time thanks. But will someone message me about returning this one and getting one with dark wood handle and the sheath shown in photos. I will be buying more products from you as this is my second purchase. This is a great knife for the price.. very sturdy, razor sharp, the serated saw on the back works through branches easily. The handle feels good in the hands and allows for easy control. My only fault and the reason for 4 stars is I feel the sheath design doesn't exactly fit the design and shape of the knife and has trouble pulling out especially when carried on your belt. Instead of the knife coming out the entire sheat lifts up and you have to hold it down to get the knife out.. but over all a great gift

I collect sawback style knives and this was a welcome addition to my collection. This is a very nicely designed, full tang blade. I like the size, weight, and feel. The sawback is, of course, fully functional. Fit and finish was good. The blade has a nice choil. If this were your only knife out in the field, you'd be more than okay.

Well made, fits well in the hand and sturdy

Robuste Ausführung und schön anzusehen. Könnte allerdings etwas schärfer sein. Scheint eher aufs Hacken und Schneiden ausgerichtet zu sein

Ich wollt schon immer so ein Messer haben. Und nun hab ich mir eins gekauft. Kam schnell an und sieht gut aus. Es ist nicht ganz so scharf, aber das ist für mich kein Problem. Verarbeitung ist nicht ganz so schön. Es gibt am Griff meherer leichte Kanten die nicht so gut mit dem Holz geschliffen sind. Der größte Fehler der mich stört, ist aber das die Sägezähne auf dem Messerrücken teilweise einfach weg geschliffen sind. Ich überlege noch das Messer zurück zu schicken. MFG

It came exactly as described and with a leather sheath that was better than I expected. The video showing how to split wood for a fire was very helpful.
