Product is great and effective
Dexpan Expansive Demolition Grout gets the job done. We used it for 2 different applications and it really impressed us on its performance both times. The main reason we were using the Dexpan was to demolish a small concrete pad in a location where it would be difficult to use large tools. The holes were drilled per instructions and the grout was mixed per instructions. After mixing it has a soup like consistency. After pouring the grout into the holes, we left it for about 16 hours before checking on it. The pad was completely demolished and the concrete floor beneath the pad was left undamaged. Clean-up was just as easy as using the product. For the second application, we used it to break a large boulder on a hillside that needed to be removed. The same process was done as we did in the first application and the next morning, the boulder was broken up into pieces small enough to carry by hand. Overall, it is a great product that works very well. The main benefit being that it saves time and money by eliminating the need to use heavy equipment and tools. It is very simple to use and is very effective following the instructions for use. The only thing of concern is that it has a very high PH making it a dangerous substance to use and can be harmful if it get on the skin. However using proper personal protective gear such as rubber gloves and safety glasses mitigates the risk. It also washed off the skin with soap and water. I highly recommend this product for its intended use. It is easy to use, effective, and save time and money.

Fantastic product saved my butt
I'm putting on an addition to our house. When digging the hole for the foundation, we hit ledge about 6 feet down. This would have severely limited our basement ceiling height. The ledge consisted of a mix of gray NH granite and some insanely hard black rock. I had to take off about 1.5 feet of ledge to get to a 7 foot basement ceiling. We will end up owing the excavator about $1000 in machine time for beating on it with the hammer he has on his skid steer. A larger machine was not available. For that machine time, we took out the two highest peaks, but the vast majority of it remained. So I gained about 1/2 foot this way. The excavator did not have any good solutions for me. I went on the web and found Dexpan. Watched a few youtube videos and convinced myself that I had a shot at this. The excavator and foundation guys were both very skeptical, but hey, when you're desperate, you'll try anything. The first day I drilled 30 holes as a test. The next day I saw a few cracks appearing. I ended up drilling about 120 3/4" holes 10 inches deep each. Holes were drilled about 6 inches apart, and were carefully chosen to take advantage of existing fracture lines in the ledge. Took about 8-10 hours of drilling time. The Dexpan succeeded with cracking up the ledge to the extent that the excavator could come back with his skid steer hammer and bust it all out in about an hour. I got an additional 1 foot of ceiling height out of this and now we are finally ready to pour the foundation. DEXPAN ROCKS!!!!! Forgive the pun. By the way, I think I would have been better to have ordered lower temp range Dexpan. Some of my cracks took a couple days to even start. I think with the lower temp product, it would have gone faster.

Works great in sandstone!
Three packs out of the four were enough to fill 20 holes 1-1/2" diameter and 12" deep. Holes were drilled on 12" centers. Cracks in the rock started to appear after about four hours. The photo was taken six hours after filling the holes. Note, poke some wire down the holes after pouring the mix to ensure there are no air bubbles in the holes.

Time saver!
For an entire day I beat on an old set of steps, 3' thick, 5' x 5', with a jackhammer. Got nowhere. Used this stuff, 24hrs later the block was broken. Awesome!

Amazing
This is the best stuff you can buy for breaking large rocks, I mean big rocks, just use a pneumatic rock drill, drilling 1.5" holes and mix up dexpan pour into holes. It works really well, a good value for the money

It works Great: If you follow directions and order the correct temperature range
I have poured 176# into 120 1.5" holes. Pics only represent a small portion of the job. Follow direction by using a 1.5" Bit, (The area of a 1.5" is 225% of a 1" bit and area is the important fact in this process) It is a lot of work drilling the holes but a pilot drill helps. Rent bits, Amazon Bits ALL broke on Day 1. It says to only drill 80-90% into the rock BUT on buried rock you will not know were that is. If you drill through that hole may not fill. Wait 24-36 hrs as it continues to expand, in fact you can re-water to increase expansion. You can see the drilled holes in the last Pic. The last rock split and removed weighed 2,000# This product works if the proper product is selected and instructions followed.

Fantastic product. Love it
I used this to demo a 6 by 12 footing that a sledgehammer wouldn't dent. The product itself is like flower (portland cement and other ingrediants) and when it's mixed it pours like cake batter. Make sure you buy the right one for the right temperature range. Open an 11 pound pack, put it in a 5 gallon bucket, add 1.5 liter water, then mix it with a drill with a metal paint mixer. Use cool water, not hot. Look for clumps in the bottom of the bucket and make sure you break them with your mixer. Don"t try and mix it with a paint stick cause you only got 10-15 minutes of time to get it in the holes. Have a funnel that fits in the holes ready. I used compressed air to clean the holes before I put the product in. I think that helps. Once it's poured in you wait. Mine started cracking at 6 hours and completed by 24 hours. I kept checking it like I was expecting a baby. Once I lifted the tarp and I heard it cracking. Amazing stuff. Use breathing, eye, and hand protection, a drill, and clean the holes with compressed air. Like another guy said you gotta see it to believe it. You gotta be patient. It turned the footing into removable chunks. If you look close at the picture you can see the Dexpan plugs. You would think they would be hard as rock. Their not, they snap in half like a piece of chalk.Another thing to remember is to use breathing protection during the breakup and disposal of the concrete. Dexpan dust fills the air. I forgot this an got a bad hacking cough from it.
