Holds great even in soft sand.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I bought these ground stakes because they were 16 inches long and I could get a set of six. I tested them out the next day and some very soft beach sand to hold up my shade tent on the beach. It was very windy, but the stakes held. I use the 3/4” box wrench to drive them into the ground, but I could’ve also used a socket wrench. I put them in at an angle away from the tent and they held in the strong wind. To remove them, I pulled them straight up at the angle. They were inserted and they came right out, that’s how soft the sand was. I only needed four for the tent. The other two are to be used for Other purposes, such as an anchor to hold my boat when I’m pulled up at the beach.

Very firmly holds down my 12x12 canopy at the beach
Used to secure a canopy at the beach. These things are great. I drove them in until my drill couldn’t drive them any further. Thought about hitting with a couple ugga duggas on my impact but was worried that I’d shear one with one ugga dugga too many. They secure the canopy perfectly. I’m quite glad I ordered these. I was a bit concerned by the price that they were gonna be more hype than substance, but they work great. Update: Since someone reviewed elsewhere that these didn't work on beach sand, I wanted to update that I disagree completely. I bought 8 of these. Four were used to secure the 12x12 canopy in fairly compact sand in a campground area and four were used to secure a vehicle awning while on the beach as well (in my case, the loose sand was fairly deep but as we were close to the waterline there was wet packed sand about 8" down). They bit into the beach sand and held the awning down without problem.
