No. It has a 8" cord on the back. It has a long cord that can be plugged into a regular outlet AND a cord that plugs into a cigarette lighter in a car and/or RV. It even has a zip off cover for easy washing and Velcro straps on the back of the massage machine. You will love it! Shipped in a few days, three I think. I 💓 it so much!

Yes the heat is optional you can turn it off by pressing the top button twice
