Comfortable, blister-free fit straight out of the box
These are absolutely amazing straight out of the box. Wore on multiple strenuous hikes in the RMNP without any issues or blisters, with plenty of support when required. Haven’t tested them in heavy rainfall or streams, but walking in shin-deep snow there were no leaks and boots remained dry and warm. To be fair my previous boots were nearly 10 years old and I didn’t realise how much lighter and comfortable modern walking shoes can be. Having slightly wider than normal feet was a little worried reading the specs and reviews that these are going to be too narrow. Opted for 1/2 size larger than usual and seems to be a perfect fit to the point of forgetting I was still wearing these on long hikes. They also seem to be well made and hope will last a good few years.

Comfy and Waterproof
Great boots, I trust them to keep my feet warm and dry for when I need to cover any distance. Fit well and look great in the orange colourway. Only slight issue is that the laces are a bit short.

Seriously good boot for alps and via ferrata
Basically I'm using these boots in the Dolomites over a 5 day trek on via ferrata. Using liner sock and over sock. Terrain is full on from scree to ascent. These boots are perfect for this type of hiking providing both the right level of rock grip akin to climbing shoes with the durability comfort and sturdiness to sustain a pounding in descent...I'm not a light man in terms of weight circa 17 stone. I highly recommend these for the alps more than good enough for the uk. Also used in wales...I did blister on first use but that's my fault not the boots - feet to soft. Always use liner sock and light hikers over sock. You can also tape feet with zinc oxide med tape. On heals and balls of feet etc. Don't blame the boots!! Especially if the are as well designed as Salewa. This is a serious make..

Blisters and hotspots
(Apologies to those that fear feet 😬) Only a few days old. Went to Snowden with my wife so no technical routes planned. I found these comfy at first however I was constantly adjusting the laces. Too loose-movement and friction Too tight-sore and aching. Just could not find that middle ground! I found the decent worse overall and that's how I got hotspots turn into blisters on the balls on my feet. Lost count how many times I stopped to air and talc my feet with spare socks. Heels were quite sore but no blisters. I've had these for less than a week and gutted I've got the pay in 5 months thing! Too used to return I think 😕

Very comfortable, but not waterproof!
I had my eyes on these boots for a while and when the price was right I committed and bought a pair, straight out of the box they looked amazing, felt super lightweight and when tried on they were extremely comfy. I went for a few short walks on hard paths and stones, the first thing I noticed was the soles (especially the left) made a clicking sound almost like when you walk in flip flops, upon inspection the soles were not delaminated, so I can only assume it is just the rigid rubber flexing and it would go away with time, 3 months and 50 or so miles later it hasn't. I didn't manage to go properly off road in them until mid december, I did 5 miles through muddy, wet and moderately difficult terrain including 3 stream crossings through water approximately 3-4 inches deep, I was of course very aware of making sure the freezing water was nowhere near coming in over the top, I had also intentionally worn grey socks so I could easilly identify water ingress, after returning home it was apparent that water had got in on both feet! I'm not very happy with the price/quality ratio, you would think that such a well respected company as Salewa would have better testing and quality control.

Lightweight boot.
I was in two minds buying these boots after reading some of the reviews, but I'm glad I did. These are a lightweight boot with a thinner sole than my normal hiking boots. I tried them out on a 12 k hike up some hills which involved wet marshland and then a few ascents up Rocky terrain . The boots didn't leak even though they got a good soaking. Some slight dampness which I get with most of my boots but my socks were not wet. I did feel the rocks more due to the thinner sole but using new inserts with a harder sole helped this ( Grangers G20 ) Normally my feet feel heavy after a day's hike but these were like wearing a pair of trainers. I could walk in these all day I ordered half a size up to accommodate thicker socks but these are true to size. I'm really happy with these boots and they look great as well.

Great boots
Bought for my son age 14 but never liked it as he trips on it due to thicker heels part. Ended up me wearing it as we almost have same size 8.5 UK. My 3rd Salewa of same model. Great for spring & summer. Used mostly in long-distance walks like WHW & RRW in Scotland. Never let's me down specially on scramblings & bouldery trails. Not completely waterproof to be honest but don't mind getting wet feet on spring & summer seasons. Got on Prime day for almost 1/2 the price. No reasons why it cannot be recommended.

First off, these boots are narrow, but that works for me - my feet are somewhere between a C and D in width. I find these ALP Trainer Mids to be the most comfortable and best fitting of my small collection of hiking boots, which includes boots from Asolo, Keen, and Salomon. I have NOT worn these out for any hiking or backpacking adventures yet, so I cannot comment on their durability in that regard. They are doing alright by me for the simple things I've put them through so far. You know how you might have some everyday carry items, like a wallet, watch, cell phone, pocket knife, etc.? In that regard, these are my everyday footwear. I like their appearance, love their fit; I put them on and get out the door.
