Flowtime Biosensing Meditation Headband with Heart Rate and Brain Wave Sensors to Reach Mindfulness Easier and Better for Beginners and Beginners

Works great. Initial connection issues but I now wash my forehead beforehand and voila no connection issues. I can see the individual gamma, beta, alpha, theta and delta waves on the app (no premium membership needed). See screenshots where i read then meditated and the change in brainwaves is evident. The app also gives Flowtime’s own metrics of “flow”, “attention” & “relaxation” a plus a few others. I’m having fun tracking not just meditation but yoga, playing musical instruments, watching lectures etc. The flowtime app and website are informative. i chose flowtime over muse and serenibrain as i can the EEG without recurring costs (reports are that muse doesn’t show the EEG out the box, and that serenibrain needs new hydro gel pads regularly). i don’t need the premium flowtime membership as i have the Headspace meditation app. Very happy with this device.

The head band itself has a good range of sensors with both heart rate sensor & brain wave sensors. It is very light and comfortable to wear, with a low profile. It connects easily and quickly to my Huawei p30. The device could have great potential and I was looking to use it for more than just meditation as I have been doing that for a while, and thought that I could use it for more biofeedback. I am disappointed! What lets this product down is the app you have no choice but to use with the device and it is extremely limited. You get 3 months free and then need to pay a (very high for what you get) monthly fee for a very basic and nothing special meditation app. I'm not interested in the meditation, so assume I will have a useless headband if I do not sign up for the app at the end of the 3 month's trial. With so many good app's, video, web sites out there to help you mediate, if they hope this app is going to keep their user base and attract new customers, then they are in trouble! The app itself offers a couple of guided mediations that are not very impressive, 4 basic sounds to meditate to or just a mediate timer. Yes, it gathers some data from heart and brain while you use it to meditate (they think you will only use it to meditate so it seems). Although the data it gathers is not helpful because of the app and because you are tied in to the app and cannot export the data or information on the data. You can export the data after a session, but only in a .png format (picture) so it is completely useless, you can't do anything with just a picture! There is no real trending of the data (app tracks 7 days, but extremely basic), you can't do anything yourself with the data, it can't be exported to any other apps that you could then use, it is pointless. For each of the datasets the app gathers it gives you a very brief (a couple of lines at most) and not very helpful summary of what it has collected and if you click on more info, it then opens a web page with hardly any more information that isn't very helpful. There is no information on how this data can help you in any way, no clue on how to help you improve your meditation or anything else. It goes in to no depth at all on what it is gathering, why gather it, what you need to improve or how to even start to improve it. In summary, great headband, which seems to gather great data that you cannot access and give no direction on how to benefit from this potential knowledge. It comes tied in to a poor app that requires a hefty monthly fee for no real benefit.

I was using the muse earlier and this with a simple band attachment firstly makes it very comfortable to wear. Secondly the data is extensive Lots of meditations and flow states to work through and more are being added. Huge fan

This handy wearable device has brainwave and heart rate sensors to track your brainwaves, heart rate, HRV, attention span, relaxation level, stress levels and more, all in real-time. The Flowtime Headband is easy to wear, and lightweight, you can’t even tell you are wearing it, and it tracks essential data to help you understand your patterns and how well mediation works.

Generally this product is very good and I would recommend it. The realtime feedback is really useful. The app is well laid out and the meditations are well done. It’s helping my meditation and is a great motivator. Only knocking off 1 star as it occasionally looses contact and looses data, hopefully this can be addressed soon.

My first headband arrived without a charger. It wasn't shrink wrapped so I suspect it was a return. I sent that one back and not giving up ordered another one. That one arrived shrink wrapped and with a charging cable. So far so good. The first use of the headband looked promising, I got data back in the flowtime app. It's difficult to know how accurate the information is as I didn't get many opportunities to try it out. In subsequent uses the app would only display data in about 1 in 5 attempts. This isn't really useable as a meditation aid as it actually starts to make to feel stressed trying to get it to work! The support did reply and suggested I try downloading a beta version of the software off their website. I wasn't going to install an app no issued in Google Play. Having spent to long trying to get it to work I gave up and returned it. It is worked every time I would have probably kept it, it was just too unreliable.

Overall, a well-designed product with a good App and and well presented useful data. Unfortunately, it has a fatal flaw. The device has poor Bluetooth (BLE) signal strength. This results in repeated disconnections during user sessions making the device unusable. A very frustrating experience. I suspect the root cause is a badly designed BLE antenna which is prone to proximity effects (see NOTE below). It is such a pity that a 5-star device gets a 1 star rating due to a single design error of a key parameter. I hope they correct this soon as I like the data and its presentation. NOTE: I tested the signal strength (RSSI) using the nRF Connect App and found that when on the bench the device emitted a normal to low Bluetooth signal typical of wearable products. However, when placed on the head during normal operation the signal strength dropped by an average of 20dB. At this signal level the BLE connection becomes dependent on head position and distance and frequently fails to connect or disconnects during use requiring a reset.

Questo è un dispositivo fuori di testa. E' vero, oltre ai soldi per comprarlo, si paga un abbonamento annuale a parte per sbloccare le funzioni dell'app. Ma...80 euro all'anno, ovvero poco meno di 7 euro al mese, li vale tutti. Il monitoraggio del HRV e delle onde cerebrali mi ha permesso di capire in anticipo che mi stavo ammalando. Per chi sa leggere e interpretare i suoi valori è tutta manna dal cielo. Lo ripeto: è un dispositivo fuori di testa Poi i miei colleghi dicono che a volte s'impunta o si blocca o crasha perchè i sensori fan cilecca. A me non lo ha mai fatto. Sì qualche programma di meditazione va per i cavoli suoi, ma a me non serve. Contentissimo dell'acquisto.
