I have tried the cheap alternatives and they don't cut it (no pun intended).The main issue for the cheap ones is the lack of consistency when it comes to blade insertion. Some kind of fit, some are loose and some don't fit at all.Swann-Morton produce better engineered handles. The blades attach easily and remain fixed in place until it's time to replace them. Removing them is straightforward.

The perfect weight and feel in the hand. Works flawlessly.

It's their standard product, but you're buying a Rolls Royce! Don't bother with rubbish alternatives.

Good size blade holder and it is not too heavy. Easy to hold and use.
