Like others, I'm no longer thrilled with the quality of the drugstore hair clips that used to be my go to for decades. This octopus style clip, while pricier than traditional brands, is just right for my past shoulder length blonde hair, which I have a lot of, but is thin and curly. It grips nicely without causing headaches. My hair was almost touching my shoulders when I started using this clip and it held just fine. I'm certain it could handle thicker and longer hair as there's plenty of room without appearing so, if that makes sense. Great quality, love the tortoiseshell shade. Very happy with purchase.

I bought the black/mint glitter clip and while it's slightly smaller than other octopus clips I got, it actually holds my hair better. I have very fine hair and a LOT of it, so I need a clip that can hold a lot but I also get tension headaches if the clip is too heavy or pulls my hair. This clip is the best one I've found so far... twice to three times as expensive but it works. I've only had it a week, so we'll see if it holds up but it seems sturdy. My main concern is the thin tension band across the inside of the clip that holds it closed... also makes it easier to open and close than others I've tried. It also doesn't have the little spurs or silicone pieces on the inside to help hold your hair... and doesn't need them. Also, pretty!

This clip is good quality but SMALL for the price. I thought it would the size of my fist as a bun clip but no, its only a couple inches across. Too expensive for what you get.

My naturally straight, thick hair (or "coarse" as my hairdresser calls it) hates being put in a bun. I've tried using combs, elastics, pins, suggestions on TikTok for twisting it upwards, but within hours it fall apart. The only things that are able to tame it are the big long-toothed clips, but I'm not going out in public with a giant binder clip sticking up on my head, lol. Then I saw the instructor for my yoga class wearing the octopus clip: I asked her where she got it, and ordered this as soon as I got home. It really works, holding the hair in a neat bun but with a low profile---you hardly see the handles on this clip. The "tentacles" look pointy and sharp, but I don't feel them at all, and they don't pull on the hair. An added plus is that I don't feel it while driving when it's pressed against the headrest. I'm ordering another one to keep in my workout bag. A smart, compact accessory for anyone with long hair.

I have armpit length, thick, wavy hair that I prefer to not put in a pony or up in a tight do. Haveing a jaw clip really helps in those times that I need it off my neck or just out of the way without the harsh pull of a pony tail updo. There isn't any real grip to it as it's just plastic. Iv had others that have soft rubber inside to help hold the hair. For me the size is a bit smaller than I had hoped it would be. The appearance is nice tho, sleek, and sturdy. It can be versatile with the way you clip it in your hair for different styles.

I had a sturdy “claw hair clip” from Nordstrom that lasted me MANY years in the mid-2000s. I mostly used it at the gym and for keeping my hair up in the shower on days I wasn’t washing my hair. It eventually came to the end of its life, and broke (the metal part was worn out and snapped off). I searched EVERYWHERE for weeks for a similar “claw clip”, but could not find anything sturdy enough for my semi-thick hair. I dislike the “regular” and “long” sizes that have more “claws” or “teeth” - for some ironic reason, they never hold my hair up. I eventually go to Ulta - and behold, they had THIS clip! It looked like an updated version of the Nordstrom one I had. As soon as I checked the sturdiness by opening & closing the claw part, I knew this clip was the PERFECT replacement. It lasted me approximately 5 years (including getting it wet in the shower!) I fell asleep with my clip on the other day and it ended up breaking (it was near the end of its life). I decided to check Amazon for a “claw hair clip”. This clip came up as a *sponsored result*. It seemed too good to be true, so I kept scrolling, but could not find anything similar in style to my recent one that broke… So I go back up to this sponsored one and check out the photos. I realized it’s the EXACT clip I purchased from Ulta a few years back!! I was over the moon to find this on Amazon, and it arrived within two days. No matter what price range you are looking in, I guarantee this is the most sturdy and best quality claw clip you will find!!! I hope they continue making this FOREVER and that they continue to sell it here on Amazon :) This specific claw clip is a daily necessity for my life. No other clip compares or will do for me!!!
