Piscifun Viper X Spinning Reels, Carbon Fiber 33LBs Max Drag, 10+1 Shielded BB, Saltwater Freshwater Spinning Fishing Reel, 5.2:1/6.2:1, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 Series

This is a preliminary review of these reels. I have recently bought three of them, one 500 and two 1000 models. I took them fishing once so far but didn’t catch any fish. However I can say that they are very smooth while using them. I’m directly comparing them to my Daiwa Fuego LT and Exceler LT reels and they are just as smooth and solid feeling as those more expensive reels, but for less than half the cost. What’s more, the Viper X also has a sealed, carbon drag whereas the Daiwas do not. These Viper X reels are well built, and the fit and finish on them is well done also. The cosmetics of the reels are good to go along with the quality, they have just the right amount of flashiness without being overdone or being too plain. Then there’s other little things like the knurled spool for braid, or just the line keeper clip on the spool for storing the tag end of the line when removing the spool, instead of that being triangular like others it is round which makes it far easier to get it to catch and hold the line. That’s not a big thing but it is still a nice touch. Even the EVA foam grip, all of these things add up to make these reels feel like you really have something that’s a cut above others in this same price range, and even above others costing more. Further, these reels are among the lightest in their size range, the 500 weighing 5.4oz and the 1000 weighing 6.0oz. They feel light as a feather. I have three of these reels and they are loaded with 2 pound, 4 pound, and 6 pound mono lines. All cast and retrieve smoothly with good line management. Time will tell how they perform with a fish on the line, but for now I’m very satisfied with them and WILL be buying more for replacements of other reels as well as for pairing up with new rods.

These reels work great, i now own a 1000, 2000, and 3000 and all of these are just as good as the expensive ones( i own some $200 - $400 dollar reels ). I do alot of bass fishing in Wisconsin and these reels are built well, work silky smooth, strong, feel comfortable in the hand, and quiet. these are a great value that i will continue to purchase.

Best reel ever!! have the piscifun carbon x, carbon 2, and carbon xt on my open water rods so I decided to go with a cheaper alternative with piscifun and got the viper x in both green and purple for ice season. Let me tell you, they do not disappoint even though they’re marked at a lower value than the other piscifun reels. The drag sounds superb and it holds up exactly the same as the carbon x! A lot of people get the sienna and it’s a good reel, but for the same price value, you can get the viper with better internals!!

I bought this reel for my wife to use. I took it out today to see how it matched up to a new rod. All seems well. For an inexpensive reel, it casted nicely and the drag felt smooth. The bail kicks back easily. The retrieve was very smooth and silent but unfortunately, not catching anything, I didn't get to load test it. :) My one knock on it is that it is the only reel I own that does not have a lever to disengage the one-way clutch. My wife will often accidently crank the lure too far in. On the old reels, she knows to flip the lever and let a little line out. She'll have to get used to this one. I was surprised Piscifun did not include the lever function on this reel as even the next lower model series (Flame) includes it. Certainly not a major issue, just letting you all know in case like me, you didn't look closely at the photos before ordering.

Super smooth and lightweight reel. I have two Piscifun Flame reels already, but wanted one of the graphite style, to see how they differed. The ONLY complaint I have, is that the 1000 model (and a few others) do not have the anti-reverse switch, which I find myself using for various reasons, every time I'm on the water. I still give it 5 Stars, but I'd give it 6 if the smaller sizes came with the anti-reverse option.

Great value super smooth can’t recommend enough

Great reel! Super smooth and looks great on my hand built 9'6" crappie pole. I went with the 1000 size and balances perfectly. Already purchased a purple one for the pink rod I made my daughter. Definitely will be buying a couple more and a red flame for my red pole I am building

Great little reel. Purchased the 3000 size for trout/creek fishing here in Arkansas. Haven’t been able to go yet, so I can’t comment on how it handles in action, but out of the box it’s very lite and smooth retrieve. Excited to get out there and cast my cares away!

A great value reel. Does the job. Clutch is nice and smooth when playing larger fish. I did get alot of wind knots in the braided line futher back on the spool when using lighter lures (below 1g).
