Works well. I bought this for my 12 year old nephew who is into cooking. He thought it was a great gift.

Fun to use with the Grandkids
My granddaughter (14) is in love with these mini-appliances. I bought this to use primarily as an ice cream bowl. The Dash Mini Waffle Bowl Maker was easy to use. I made regular pancake mix, added a little sugar, and some vanilla. I sprayed the bowl with a bit of cooking spray and used a scant 1/4 of batter. There is no timer, but I just checked every minute or so to see if the top would open. When the waffle bowl was done, the top lifted easily. It was not as easy to get it out, but I had a small spatula that did the trick. Pluses - easy to use, kid pleaser, easy to clean up, fast, small and easy to tuck in a cupboard, does not take a lot of space Minuses - bowl is not crisp, can be challenging to get it out (not that difficult though) I would, and will, buy this again. Cute waffle cups!
I have a regular Dash mini waffle maker, too, for 2+ years and love it. I have been eyeing on this cup kind for awhile and just received it. I have been wanting to make mini quiches with potato crust. Also wanted to make a bunch and freeze some for later. For the first try, I just used what I had in the kitchen (due for grocery shopping. LOL). I grated a potato, mixed in flour and an egg, S&P. It came out great. One click of the machine wasn't quite long enough for potatoes, but if I am baking with quiche filling later, it should be good enough. (If you want to add something on top and eat it out of the waffle maker, I would suggest you cook for 2 clicks). I am also planning on trying out using rice and add pork ginger. That would be fantastic!

Good value
Works well. Smaller than I expected but makes a nice bowl type of waffle which can add toppings to.

Exactly What I Wanted
Makes the perfect 'small' waffle bowls. Easy to use, I just wish the lid would lock in place when lifted. It fell down almost every time I lifted it...but the bowls came out perfectly. I did experiment with the amount of batter and cooking times. 3 tablespoons of batter was way, way too much. It overflowed and created a mess. I reduced it to 2 level tablespoons and that amount worked perfectly. The timing was a little tricker, but for me 5:45 seconds was the exact color and crispness I wanted. I made the 'classic waffle' batter from the booklet that was enclosed. I reduced the sugar because it was way too much for me. This batter produced 24 'bowls'. I'm very happy with this product.

Like a Bear Riding a Bicycle
Like a bear riding a bicycle, it doesn't perform really well, it's just a wonder that it works. The weakness is in the top edges, it relies very much on your ability to fill the exact amount of batter so it neither underflows or overflows. If you're fussy about the edge be prepared to clean it up with a pair of kitchen scissors. That said, I think any home waffle cup maker is going to have the same problem. Another minor difficulty is that because the iron is on a hinge, there's a tendency to make a waffle cup with one side of the bottom a bit thicker than the other. You can avoid most of this problem by waiting a few seconds for the bottom to cook before closing the lid. Hold the lid down until the batter pops it open again, just a few seconds. The estimated 3-5 minutes cooking time is about right, maybe 2-4 minutes for me. There's a recipe included (1.5 cups of flour, salt, baking power, 4 eggs, milk, vanilla) that takes about an hour to cook up 2 dozen waffle cups. You'll wish you'd bought the two slot maker while you're cooking but you'll be glad you got the single cup when you're trying to store it. One other thing: it gets hot quickly and it's easy to get burned if you're not careful. The highest risk time is when you are trying to pry the finished waffle cup out and trying to hold the lid open at the same time. And you have to hold the lid, it doesn't snap in place. All these things you can deal with and in the end you'll get a couple dozen of wonderful waffle cups that fit perfectly in your hand and can be filled with whatever you can imagine. The cups keep fairly well (a week maybe?) or can be frozen for safe keeping. We like to put a couple of scoops of ice cream into one and then walk around the house eating, a waffle cup can make most anything into a finger food!
